Swing voters are the most valuable voters in America.

If you’re a swing voter, it probably means you’re willing to think for yourself rather than blindly vote for the same party election after election. You understand that economies have natural ups and downs, that neither party is responsible for everything that goes wrong, and that neither party deserves your vote simply because they have an R or D next to their name.

Frankly, blind loyalty to any political party is dangerous. It discourages critical thinking, excuses bad behavior, and allows politicians to take their voters for granted. If a party knows it has your vote no matter what, why should it bother earning it?

Your vote should be earned, not inherited. Being a Republican or Democrat shouldn’t be a permanent identity. It should be a political affiliation that you’re willing to reconsider when the facts, the candidates, or the circumstances change.

Politicians work for us. They aren’t our sports teams, and elections aren’t loyalty tests. If they want your vote, make them earn it.

Tip of the hat to all the swing voters and independents.

Voter transport efforts

Yesterday I donated $5 to help Texas Dems shuttle disengaged voters to polls. Is Ohio doing anything similar? Are churches shuttling voters? NAACP? Colleges? Can Dem party shuttle voters? Not just on voting day to long lines but early voting? IMHO If a fraction of lazy ad money was poured into boots on the ground action we’d have more humble successful results. Every vote counts.

Just got this phone call... "conducting a poll...."

I just received this call. They said they are conducting a public opinion survey. He started to ramble on about what's important and I cut them in the middle of a sentence and said who is this pole for? He said it's just a public opinion poll. I responded with sponsored by who? He responded with I don't know who this is that is sponsoring this. I said who do you work for? He said I am just calling for people's opinions.... I asked who wants to know my opinions, that pays you to do this?....again he wouldnt admit or commit. So i simply said "You aren't evem aware of who your company(your employer) is,? who is paying you?, who the sponsor of your survey is???, and yet you want to try to influence me, or answer your survey questions of multiplequestions.... yet you can't answer a single question of mine ??? "Lose my number, I am reporting you as my number has been on the "Do Not Call" registry for years and has beem regularly updated and renewed far within legal requirements. You have a nice day, hope your "unknown" sponsor is fined, and never call me again. CLICK!"

Did i handle this correctly???

Looking at moving to Stow, OH. Wife is concerned about racism?

Hi! As the title says, I'm looking at moving to Stow in a new apartment. My wife is concerned about racism. I am currently living in North Canton. I would like to be close to work. My commute is about 45 minutes. It would be cut down to 15. I'm a project engineer for a major construction company in the Cleveland area.

My wife is concerned about our changing environment being racist since we are black and have a young daughter (3 years old). She will eventually have to attend school and simply go outside for us to play.

Concerns came from her friends and a family member saying that Stow is apparently racist? Idk I don't feel like this is a big concern, even if it was because we live in OH lol and the state gets the same rep in general.

I have lived here for 20 years and the only time I ran into a racist, they helped me jump my car, told me they were racist during the process and us having convo and they were white using the hard r btw but this happened in another area where my car broke down. They seemed like decent human beings, so idk 😂 is it really a major concern these days to reconsider a nice place that meets our growing family's needs? I think it's kinda silly but she's really upset I'm not taking it seriously.

Looking for Indigenous Photographer in Cleveland, Ohio

Hello all!
This is my first ever post on Reddit, so I hope you can extend me a bit of grace (haha)
My name is Nicole, and I'm looking to hire an Indigenous photographer in the Cleveland, Ohio area for a project. I live in Louisiana, so I had no idea where to start looking, but Reddit seemed like a good place to begin.

If you or anyone you know fits this description and is interested, I would love to tell you more if you send me your website/portfolio/whatever you have.

Thank you so much in advance!

How a lifelong Republican came to lead the data center battle in Ohio

Two years ago, Nick Owens served as a Trump delegate at the Republican National Convention. He won't say how he's voting this fall, but he says no doubt the data center issue, along with $6 diesel, have dampened Republican enthusiasm.

Throughout Mt. Orab, the absence of campaign yard signs is notable.

"Two years ago you would have seen Donald Trump signs left and right," says Owens.

This county, like much of rural Ohio, voted 80% for President Trump in 2024.

"You always have depressed votes in the midterms," says Owens. "But I think the enthusiasm gap for Republicans in particularly rural areas is going to be a lot more pronounced… than any type of enthusiasm gap for Democrats in the cities."

This election does not end with Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown

While most of the attention is being paid to the marquee races, remember that there are down ballot races for Ohio House and Senate seats. Ohio government can't be reformed unless we turn over the legislature as well. Without change at the State House, nothing will change in the state.

Shontel Brown (D) vs Mike Kirchner (R)

I don't care about party affiliations, but I tend to vote Democrat. I'm filling out my mail-in ballot, and I'm torn between leaving the Congress Representative race blank or voting for Mike Kirchner (R). I will never vote for someone who takes AIPAC money like Brown. I want to vote for Kirchner just to punish Brown, but I don't know Kirchner's stance on the matter or whether he will start receiving AIPAC money if he wins. Ethically, I cannot vote for Shontel, but I also don't want to vote for a Republican who has no issue taking AIPAC money in the future. Should I just leave it empty?
