I'm on the right and fairly far to the right for an American. I mention this because so much of the opposition to the concept comes from the Right.
I was recently watching some walk-throughs (on youtube) of some Chinese neighborhoods in China. In some areas, you couldn't walk 50 feet without passing a store or business. There was also a TON and I mean TON of greenery. In these neighborhoods, all the streets were tiny, maybe even just alleys in American terms. This all seems very convenient and nice to look at, at least all the greenery. Given the density of everything, one assumes they are effectively living in 15 minute cities.
I compare this to my own area. Everything is in a grid, all fairly wide car friendly streets (in one of the oldest cities in America, Philadelphia) and at best, a small corner store every few blocks. You really need a car in most cases to live in America, even in the city. Though I personally bike commute, I have to plan everything and thank God my local-ish supermarket delivers.
I would love to live somewhere that has better urbanism. Even the term urbanism is a turn off to most Americans and usually invokes a different idea than it does in other countries. As I was viewing that footage of China (and I'm aware not all of china looks like those did), I was thinking nothing even remotely like this exists in America. How convenient these areas must be to live in.
Of course, the people pushing the 15 minute city ideas are presenting it as living in ze podz and eating ze bugs and this will be forced on you. I don't want to live in ze pod and I'll starve before eating ze bugs. I would never want to be "assigned" to live in a 15 minute city as these droids pretending to be human push them. But it sounds just like it's bad marketing. Like there would be a lot of advantages to living in a 15 minute area, where everything I would need is easy and friendly walking or cycling short distance away. Work might be a different story. I happen to be blessed with work-at-home, so that's not really an issue for me.
Almost nothing is an easy walk from my house, even living in an urban environment (12k people per mile square). The nearest movie theater, for example, is like a 20-30 minute drive from my house. There is one baker within easy biking distance. etc. There is far too much I have to ride quite a distance to get to. 40 years ago, there was much, much more you could walk to. I used to live in easy walking distance of 2 movie theaters, one a discount theater that played the last week the movie was available in any theater. That was great for a teenager (which I was), 1 dollar movies. At this time, renting a movie was usually more than a Dollar (early to mid 80s). There were 2 bowling allies in easy walking distance. Several restaurants. Dance halls. Many other of those types of things.
Is it just bad marketing or do people (particularly right wingers) despise the idea? If so, why? Of course, I also want a car to be an option. Just because I don't need a car now doesn't mean I won't ever need one again (I've driven many years). There are things I miss doing with a car.
Of course, being America, you cannot have good transit. That's just against the law or something.

I don’t disagree with the “pick up a pencil” argument, but I don’t like what it implies about drawing. It takes a fuck ton of time and effort just to draw something decent. It’s not as simple as just imagining something and putting pencil to paper.

I’m not a developer. I teach English online and got tired of tracking lessons and chasing parents for payments in a spreadsheet, so over a few weekends I built a little app with Claude and Cursor. Tutors log lessons, parents get a monthly invoice with a pay button. That’s the whole thing
I put it online in August for $10 a month, mostly so a couple of tutor friends could use it
Last week it crossed $100 in a month. Ten paying tutors, seven of them strangers
One of the new ones sent me a message saying she found it because ChatGPT recommended it. I assumed she was being nice or confused it with something else. Nobody knows this app exists. My X account has 90 followers
So I opened ChatGPT and asked for an invoicing tool for private tutors. It listed four apps and mine was the third one, with a description that sounded weirdly close to my landing page
It took me a while to figure out why. Before launch I paid for a press release through MediaBoost. I only did it because a friend said tutors and parents would trust it more if there were a few news logos on the page. It got syndicated to a few hundred news sites that nobody reads, and I got maybe 8 visits from all of them combined. Same week I added their directory package to get listed on a bunch of software directories
I’d written both off. Apparently AI tools read those pages even if people don’t
I asked the other strangers too. Four said ChatGPT or Perplexity, two found me on a directory, one came from a tutor friend
The $100 is going straight to the Claude subscription that built the thing
Tunnen satoja vegaaneja, olenhan itsekin. Yleinen nettikeskustelujen kulttuurisotailmiö veganismiin liittyen on "soijapojittelu".

I’ve been teaching math for 69 years, and I’ve never felt this hopeless about the future of my profession.
Something happened yesterday that I can’t stop thinking about. I gave my class a warm-up problem, 847 × 36, and one of my students had the answer in about three seconds. For a second, I thought I was finally getting through to him. Then I asked him to show his work. He didn’t say anything. He just slowly turned his phone around, and there it was: the calculator app, with “30492” still glowing on the screen. I felt my stomach drop.
I don’t know how to explain to him that what he did isn’t math. He pressed some buttons and a machine gave him a number. He didn’t carry anything or line up any columns. When I told him he won’t always have a calculator in his pocket, he looked at me like I was the crazy one.
What really gets me is that nobody wants to talk about is where these things got their math. They stole it. Every calculator runs on centuries of work by real mathematicians, people who poured their whole lives into it. Then some company scraped all of it, crammed it into a $12 piece of plastic, and started selling it. Nobody asked them, and nobody paid them. That’s theft.
And they aren’t even reliable. Type 0.1 + 0.2 into a computer sometime and you get 0.30000000000000004. And people want this thing doing their taxes?
I also think about the people this replaced. NASA used to have whole rooms of human “computers,” mostly women, doing real calculations by hand. Those jobs are gone, and now people act like that’s progress.
The worst part is that I can always tell. Calculator work has no soul. My students’ homework used to have personality: eraser smudges, crossed-out digits, a 7 that looked suspiciously like a 1. You could see a person thinking on the page. Now everything comes back clean and correct, and it makes me want to cry.
I’m not anti-technology. I’m just scared. I’m scared that in ten years nobody will know their times tables, every bridge will be designed by “button-pushers,” and I’ll be the last person on earth who can carry a one. Maybe that’s dramatic. Or maybe I’m the only one paying attention.
TLDR: If it didn’t take suffering, it’s not math

Anti had painted over all my artwork in my Roblox painting game...
artwork that I painstakingly created with my own damn hands!
I showcased the beta version of my painting game on Reddit and made the mistake of posting a link to the game along with it...
How twisted do you have to be to destroy, in the name of "preserving human creativity" the very thing you’re supposed to be protecting?
Can someone explain this logic to me?
@ MelonTheProtogen: explain you? What is worng with you? Damn you have made an game called "self reflection" , use it !!!
ps: I followed your trail, you angry little man... found your furry Instagrams... that explains a lot
edit: Since a lot of people call me a liar because they don't want to admit it to themselves: no wonder so many antis s aren't taken seriously when they have such double standards..

Easy mode - Survivors with a base kit so unbelievably strong that runs become trivial. IMO these survivors should be nerfed.
Overtuned - Extremely strong survivors who still require some baseline level of execution to perform well - not completely braindead.
Well Designed/Balanced - Strong survivors who do not need overpowered kits to still succeed. These survivors feel like they fit in how ROR2 plays in current year.
Questionable Design:
Criticism directed not at how strong a survivor is necessarily but at how their entire kit is designed.
Acolyte: Encouraged to play with your thumb up your ass while Anima Harvester is on cooldown. Seems like a survivor that can engage in cool melee combat but past stage 4 that becomes near suicidal - devolves into just kiting and using Harvester.
Acrid: Encouraged to not engage with enemies by just spreading poison and running away while they tick. Has a melee primary that further disincentivizes you from being in actual combat with enemies - I don't think this meshes well with how survivors should be designed.
Drifter: Melee primary survivor who utilizes a resource gained by melee hits and mobility offensive usage to deal burst damage. No enemies or props to grab means burst damage crawls to a halt as you have to wait for the base cooldown of the secondary instead of using scrap to refresh. Melee combat to regain scrap becomes more difficult in later stages and you have to rely on Reposses to maintain Junk.
IMO people severely overrate this survivor because they look @ Tinker in a vacuum and see an ability that gives you a buffed Recycler. This ability is extremely strong but with the rest of her kit it cannot be executed to its full potential. If you actually play this survivor you will understand these difficulties.
Victims of Powercreep:
Vanilla survivors who unfortunately have been powercrept by how survivors are designed now. Modern survivors have both burst and proc damage built within their kit so that they can be more flexible to items gained in a run. They also have extremely strong mobility options in their kit that allow them to survive without necessitating fully on mobility items to survive. Older survivors are more subject to the RNG of a run - most will need multiple items in differing categories to reach power levels that are obtained by newer survivors base kit.

It's probably too late for major changes, but Dual Spec really should be available at level 30. By the time we hit 40, we're already completely overwhelmed by mount costs and skill training. It would make so much sense to introduce it at 30 for a reasonable price, maybe something like 20g, to split up the gold sinks. If they don't want to do that, making it a level 60 account-wide perk for ~100g would be another awesome alternative. We don't actually know the intended price yet however.

SEATTLE TIMES: Behind this fall’s ballot measure on transgender student athletes, one that’s pushed Washington’s youth sports into a national spotlight, is a web of ambiguous language that many health providers in the state are still trying to untangle.
Some parts of Initiative 638, a hotly debated measure brought by conservative political committee Let’s Go Washington, are clear. The initiative, if passed, would ban trans girls from participating in K-12 interscholastic girls sports. It would not require a new, additional medical appointment. It would apply only to girls, not boys, teams.
Other portions, like how the measure would alter the way health providers give athletic assessments to all girls, are murkier.
According to the first section of I-638, for example, “existing Washington state law and school district policies require students to undergo a routine physical examination prior to participation in interscholastic sports, which includes documentation of the student’s sex assigned at birth.”
Some health providers have immediate questions: Which state law? How is a “routine physical examination” defined? What “documentation” is the language referring to?
And while the initiative does not explicitly require genital exams for anyone, mixed messaging over how providers would have to verify student information has caused confusion, too.
“This is so clearly written by somebody who does not understand what I’m doing in a sports physical,” said Dr. Glenna Martin, a family physician who works at a Seattle community health center and who opposes the measure.
I-638 supporters say, in practice, the initiative wouldn’t change much for doctors, that it would just add a check box on a medical form. But the measure’s vague writing has left many health experts throughout the state uncertain or misinformed about what they could be required to do when signing off on students’ sports eligibility.
Campaigns on either side of I-638 have spent months arguing over what the initiative would or would not do, though much of that back-and-forth isn’t represented in the four-sentence description that appears on the ballot.
Many health professionals and expert organizations, including the Washington chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, have declined to comment publicly on the measure. In the state voters guide, no medical organizations are listed as supporting I-638.
Some, however, have spoken out in opposition, including the Washington Academy of Family Physicians, the Washington State Nurses Association and the Washington State Psychological Association.
Here’s what several medical providers from around the state say about how they’re interpreting the measure and how they would implement potential changes, should it pass.
To Martin, who specializes in family, addiction and abortion medicine, I-638 appears to require providers to confirm girls’ assigned sex at birth when analyzing their ability to play school sports, using one of three methods.
Those three methods are, according to the initiative, looking at “reproductive anatomy, genetic makeup, or normal endogenously produced testosterone levels.”
In other words, Martin said, she could give a young patient a pelvic exam, test their genes or test their hormone levels. (She added these tests do not necessarily determine somebody’s sex or gender.)
That does not mean that all providers would be required to give students pelvic exams for them to play sports.
It does seem to mean that providers could give pelvic exams — or a genetic or blood test — if they felt “legally obligated to comply,” Martin said. It depends on how individual providers would feel about enforcing a change to patient care based on the outcome of an election, she said.
“At the end of the day, I wouldn’t do it because I think it is completely unethical,” Martin added. “I would probably cross that part off and say, ‘this is not medically indicated.’”
he said she also opposes the measure because, despite being a point often at the heart of debate, there is not consistent research that shows trans girls have an athletic advantage over cis girls.
Let’s Go Washington counters that “sex-based athletic categories are necessary,” as supporters of the initiative wrote in the state voters guide.
Hallie Herzberg, spokesperson for the political committee, has a different interpretation of the initiative language when it comes to confirmation of assigned sex at birth.
According to Herzberg, providers would be able to confirm their patient’s assigned sex at birth “based on history of treating the patient.”
“In most cases, it would just be a doctor relying on existing medical records to check that box, so we don’t anticipate much of a change,” Herzberg wrote in an email.
She also noted, according to the initiative, providers would not be able to use birth certificates to confirm sex “because they can be changed in Washington state.”
Dr. Ken Gass, a retired pediatrician in Bellingham, said that even if the initiative allows providers to check assigned sex at birth with existing medical records, not all children have regular primary care providers who have those records.
Those students often, unfortunately, get sports physicals from providers they’ve never met before, like at an urgent care center or during a mass clinic in a school gym, Gass said.
It is true, as the measure language says, that state law allows school districts or regional interscholastic sports organizations, like the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, to oversee and manage their own rules for school sports.
It’s true that per WIAA rules, student athletes must receive a sports physical exam from a health provider in order to get certain medical forms signed.
It is not true that those sports physicals typically include official provider confirmation of a student’s assigned sex at birth, according to several Washington primary care and family medicine doctors.
“I’m not usually checking that off,” Martin said.
If I-638 passes, that would change.
Herzberg, of Let’s Go Washington, said there is a WIAA form that requires confirmation of assigned sex at birth, pointing to a medical history form-rev.pdf) on the association’s website.
That document, which does ask about assigned sex at birth and gender identity, goes into a student’s medical file, per WIAA, but it’s signed by students and/or their parents, not their health providers.
“They are official medical forms,” Herzberg wrote in an email.
The two WIAA documents that health providers usually sign are a physical exam form and a medical eligibility form. Neither asks for confirmation of assigned sex at birth.
“Now you’re in a situation where if you’re honest, you’re not going to check a box on a child you do not know,” without having to then turn to a pelvic or genetic exam for confirmation, he said.
As a result, said Gass, who opposes the initiative, he guessed that all students, including cis and trans girls, may be less motivated to join school sports. Or providers may be less likely to offer sports physical exams at all, he said.
“Doctors don’t want to put themselves at risk of signing a paper of someone they don’t know,” Gass said.
Some providers pushed back against the wording in I-638 about what state policies currently require around school sports.

The two WIAA documents that health providers usually sign are a physical exam form and a medical eligibility form. Neither asks for confirmation of assigned sex at birth.
Dr. Eloi Hoopman, a family physician in Pierce County, said the topic can come up, but “we just take (students’) word for it.” She doesn’t do pelvic exams or other testing to confirm kids’ assigned sex at birth for sports physicals, she said.
According to Let’s Go Washington, the initiative would allow providers to sign off on sports physical forms, using patient information they gather in annual well-child visits.
Most children in the U.S. receive annual well exams, but not all do, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hoopman has said it’s misleading for proponents of I-638 to conflate the two types of exams, and called the measure “poorly written.”
Now, how provider roles could change when caring for student athletes is up to voters.
A “yes” vote on the initiative bans trans girls from girls K-12 sports. A “no” vote rejects the proposed ban, and maintains Washington’s existing policies that allow students to compete on teams aligned with their gender identity.
Ballots must be returned to official election drop boxes by 8 p.m. Tuesday. The U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing your ballot at least one week before Election Day, so at this point, drop boxes are a better option.

One detail I haven't seen anyone discussing is paragraph 109 of the PL verdict, where the commission explicitly states:
"In such circumstances it is unrealistic to wholly compartmentalise each Charge, and we did not do so when reaching our Decision"
In other words they are stating that findings of misconduct on one charge influenced its assessment of others.
If City successfully overturns even just one major finding on appeal, particularly the disguised sponsorship allegations, it could create a domino effect across the verdict. The commission has effectively acknowledged that its conclusions were not reached entirely independently of one another.
This could be a huge boost for City's appeal.

Everyone here seems to want to have a kdr of 1.5-2. But we can’t all have that? If someone gets a kill, someone else has to die.
I’m genuinely curious, is it just the more hardcore gamers on this subreddit that want to trample on the general population?
If there was no SBMM, wouldn’t all the below average players just stop playing the game after getting trampled every game, and then only the sweats will be left playing each other anyway?

It's wild the difference in treatment you get dating women if she finds you handsome or average. Women are t complicated or have issues asking men out.
It just means she doesn't like you. Women that break rules they made other guys jump through. As men if you want to date a girl and it isn't effortless dating her its best to move on.
(Note I mean first 1 year of dating. Obviously if it's a 10 year relationship then life comes into play. Even then though it shouldn't be pulling nails)
