Politics Political violence

Post image
194 Upvotes

I’ve seen all this stuff in the news about political violence and saw it first hand for myself today.

Where did this all come from? I’m quite politically minded myself but since when has it become so violent. Most noticeable incidents being the independent in Indi and the old firie with the bullet incident

I’m most certainly not rooting for Labor at the election but what are your guys thoughts? Is it getting too out of hand?

FYI this photo was taken in St Albans. Literally on the busiest street which is even crazier

EDIT: my bad violence is probably too far for vandalism. It does show the state of politics at the moment though and the lack of trust.
Sad for all parties to be honest. Let’s see what happens in November 😂

THDG Need Help CANNOT get a job interview!

EDIT: Thank you all so much to everyone putting in their two cents, I definitely feel better with a bit more perspective and different approaches I can try. It's been a really depressing few months so greatly appreciate everyone's effort to offer advice. All the best to you!

-

Am I missing something??

Had to quit my job in June this year (toxic small business situation) without a backup. I’m 30, and have extensive administrative experience in community health, grants admin, family violence, the arts…

Everything I’m applying for is entry level, I’m mostly looking at council and VPS roles, but ZILCH! I’m really starting to feel crazy, and poor. Have been getting by on Centrelink and fixed roles at the Census and upcoming election but man I don’t know what else I can do.

Are there many others in a similar posi? Any HR/recruiters have any advice on how to stand out?

Real estate/Renting About to buy a 52m² unit for my 3.5 year and I… am I crazy?

Hi all, I previously asked Reddit whether it was “ethical” to have my 3.5 year old and I in a 1 bedroom unit/apartment that I can fashion into 2 smaller rooms. The advice was wonderful and I’m very grateful for so many great ideas.
I’ve now found a place for under 400k which is 52 m². Is that insanely small for a mum and her 3.5 year old? Is anyone living in similar circumstances?
I don’t have a very large deposit or savings account so I’m trying to do my best to make it work.
Option 1) don’t take this place and save more to afford something a bit bigger
Option 2) say f#@! it and go for this place because it’s 100k cheaper than my pre-approval amount
Help please!
Thank you

Update to add: the area is not considered inner city by any stretch. It does have plenty of green space nearby and also has a courtyard.

Om nom nom Best Parma & Sticky Date Pudding pub/hotel/restaurant

As in title.

Where would you go if you're craving a bangin' Parma, and to finish on a sweet note, an ecstatic Sticky Date/Toffee Pudding?

It could be a pub, it could be a hotel, it could even be a regular restaurant, it doesn't matter.

This Melburnian is craving the goods - help a brother out.

Bonus points if the venue is on EatClub or similar, that would be epic if so.

Cheers!

I wasn't even aware this was on until now, and have seen that the tickets are reasonably priced at just $69.

Anyone else going to see Megadeth and Iron Maiden?

THDG Need Help New old number plates

Noticed one and then couldn’t stop noticing them on my drive home. About every second car had slimline black number plates with white lettering, but the old style of 3 letters followed by 3 numbers. And all of them started with either A, B or C Is this a trend? Do you have to buy these plates?

Edit: just to clarify, I’ve seen slimline plates before. I just hadn’t realised we had gone back to the 3 letter 3 number system

Understandably many of them don’t have websites so I need to is if you have seen any recently?

Anything like this. Flying duck trio

They can sometimes be called Beswick Mallard ducks or Jemma Holland flying ducks.

THDG Need Help Viable career options within disability support work

Hey everyone. I've been working in disability support for almost 5 years. I've been supporting 1 client during this time but their support funding is being cut for the 2nd time this year as of next week. I'm earning less than when I started. I don't drive so my options for taking on new clients are slim, and most work seems to just be for a couple of hours at a time. I'm pretty stressed as a result. For anyone in the industry/worked in disability support, would it be worth it to move on to a different support role within community services or as a care coordinator/admin role? Just thinking of viable career opportunities. I'd love to know what others moved on to and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Light and Fluffy News “The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart”

After years of hardwork and since landing here 8 years ago as an eighteen year old,
I have finally had my Australian Permanent Residency granted on Monday.

That was truly a surreal feeling and I am extremely grateful that I will now be able to call this beautiful country my home.

Employer Nominated Scheme, same employer for last 8 years almost.

The sky is the ceiling here,I don’t think many people realise that how good people have it here and despite few issues that every country has, it is still probably the best country to live in.
How do I become more Australian tho btw?

THDG Need Help Actual Home Doctor visot

I’m trying to help someone access healthcare in their home. They require in person assessment so Telehealth or virtual ED isn’t appropriate.
Their clinic has withdrawn hone visits and 13SICK states they don’t have doctors in the area.

Have you successfully had a doctor come to see you at home recently? Which service did you use?

bonus points for inner north west.

Light and Fluffy News I walked from Melbourne CBD to Dromana

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Have seen a couple fellow lunatics post their long walks here, so figured I'd show mine from back in April. 24 hour walk, 102km covered (24 hours elapsed, 22 hours moving between shitting, eating and dying). $2,000 raised for RCD foundation. Why? Why not. Unimaginable pain. 10/10.

Also seeking ideas for other stupidly hard fitness expeditions. I'm thinking 10 laps of the 1000 steps in Ferntree Gully a day. I have already ridden 100 laps of the MCG before, so no need to suggest that one
