Facebook has optimized to the Duo!

I'm the developer of OpenTV, a free TV and film tracker, and I rebuilt it for the Duo.

- Closed: the tab bar and controls move to the side bar, so your list gets the full height.

- Open: every page uses the whole inner screen, Watch Next, show pages and stats included.

- Upright: the horizontal bars come back and the show page gets its big poster header.

- Folding and unfolding never loses your place.

The app itself: one tap to mark an episode, an upcoming calendar, stats, widgets. It works like TV Time did and imports a TV Time export, plus Trakt, Simkl, Letterboxd and IMDb. Free, no ads, no account needed, open source, and your library stays on your phone.

Anything sit too close to the hinge on yours? That's the part I'm least sure about.

Somehow opened up that Apple Store app and it said one was available near me. Picked up a white one. Coming back to iOS for the first time since the 6S.

Couple questions: is there a way to make TouchID faster? I’m really glad for TouchID coming from an Android, but it feels really slow compared to my Z Fold. Additionally, does Apple have a setting where I can swipe down on the TouchID button to reveal the notification tray?

Last question: is there any way to get the native keyboard to have a number row? Or do I need to install a new keyboard?

Otherwise besides the horribly optimized apps this thing is crazy good!

Why can’t other hide the side bar?

I’m using an iPhone Duo running iOS 27.2, and I’m having a problem with my Apple Pencil (USB-C).
The Pencil connects to my iPhone, and I can see the battery percentage, but it doesn’t write or draw on the screen.
The weird thing is that it works perfectly fine on my iPad. I’ve tried reconnecting it, but the problem is still there.
I’m living in Germany, and I’d appreciate any help or suggestions. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Could it be a software bug or a compatibility problem?

Had the opportunity to use a medical grade Xray today and had to take a peek at the internals of the Duo.

I found out through chat that you can’t change the setting to place the tabs at the bottom when the screens are open.

What a silly “bug”.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Hi, I have mild psoriasis, it's a skin condition where parts of your body have very dry skin and depending on flare ups skin can become quite flakey and come off quite easily.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with foldables and psoriasis or any other skin conditions and if this would be a worry around the hinge as this is my biggest worry, since seeing that the hinge has no IP rating, I don't wanna be 6 months in and have something like this effect it.

If there are any cases that could help mitigate hinge exposure, I'm a big fan of DBrand and their case looks like it offers protection. I'm just not sure and any experience people have had would be a great help.

You spend your entire life using inferior technology, convincing yourself that customization, better specs, and a lower price somehow make a product superior.

And then you wonder why Apple charges what it charges.

The iPhone Duo isn't for everyone. It was never supposed to be.

Some people buy phones. Others understand industrial design.

Some people look at a €2,000 price tag and ask, "Why?"

I don't want to hear about Android. I don't want to hear about Samsung. I don't want to hear about how your $700 phone has a better camera, a faster charging speed, or a feature that Apple will introduce in 2029 and market as a technological breakthrough.

I don't care.

You could give me a phone with a 10,000 mAh battery, a 300-megapixel camera, and the ability to cure cancer, and I would still ask one question:

Does it have the Apple logo?

No? Then congratulations on your very impressive electronic waste.

People keep asking whether the iPhone Duo is worth the money.

Wrong question.

The real question is whether your money is worth being spent on anything else.

Hi, I'm looking to understand if you all know if some of the cheap Apple Pencils that are on Amazon will work for the Duo

I have a cheap $20 one that works on my iPad Air 11 using the Apple Pencil protocol, but I'm unsure if it will also work.

When you deploy an Android mobile phone, that app is not optimized for that specific phone (even if it looks good), but rather means it is adapted to tablet mode, which can be a complete mess (special mention to Instagram on the Fold8, what a terrible optimization). Moreover, Samsung phones have a specific mode to avoid problems with this, which forces the screen adjustment, resulting in crashes of all kinds or poor scaling (special mention to Pinterest, which crashes on the Fold 8 when you switch from the external screen to the internal one).

On the Duo, Apple forces the developer to optimize the app for the specific Duo, it's not the same version for the iPad. That means there is more quality and detail in the app. I love that.

Let’s just say I’ll be keeping my preorder (estimated delivery November 6 to 13). Any concerns I had over front screen size have been thrown out the proverbial window. I actually like the smaller form factor of the front screen and the size of the inner screen is just perfect. When I compared it to the Pro Max that was right next to the Duo display…that’s when I realized just how much that extra 40 percent screen size matters…IM IN!

iPhone Duo and the Monitor+ App = Great setup.

I've been using this rig for a while but with a Pro Max iPhone (15/16/17) and happy to report the Monitor+ App actually fits well on the duo as of launch day (10.23). The Sony Monitor and Control app - not so much (third image).

Personally I like using it for false color and keep the native display for other info.

Made up of a few custom bit's I've frankensteined together over the years. The Magsafe mount I'm using doesn't work with a case unfortunately, but the tolerance is so close that it prevents the phone from falling down, so that's kind of a nice trade off.

Played for about an hour. Full brightness. Got slightly over ambient temp below the camera bump.
While fast charging and playing another 20 min it was starting to get more warm but was smooth as butter.

VLC hasn’t been updated yet for the duo, and I want to be able to watch my own downloaded videos, so mace this using Claude and the VLC toolkit.

Planning to get the iPhone Duo from the US, but the whole “crackgate” situation has me a bit worried.

If something goes wrong with the phone, especially the cracking issue everyone’s talking about, will Apple India repair or replace it under warranty? Or will I have to send it back to the US?

Has anyone bought an iPhone from the US and gotten it serviced in India? Would love to hear about your actual experience with Apple’s international warranty.

The price difference makes importing it tempting, but I don’t want to end up regretting it if something goes wrong.

Would you take the risk or just buy it in India?
