My wife has been enjoying her Duo since D day Friday, with no crackgate in sight.
Fam. My brand designs, manufactures and sells innovative products to US customers. In mass production, there’s a term called production yield. Basically means out of 100 completed units, a percentage will not meet quality standards. This is normal. Good yield means most units pass the QC test to sell.

Now, couple that with the fact that unless a product is literally awe-inducing, only angry people are ever compelled to leave a review, hence making bad reviews very popular.

This surge in cracked screen videos and photos you’re seeing is not telling you most Duos are prone to iCrack, it’s only saying a lot of owners who reviewed bad units televised it. But I bet you that number is LOW. Because they greenlit the product for mass production and sales, while they cancelled the glass iPhone they were working on for the same logic: production yield was too low (too many produced units were faulty, meaning tech or design wasn’t there yet)

I mean, how many nuked Duos do you see online VS the millions of units picked up and shipped?

You’re misled into canceling your preorders because you’re more and more scared the more screengate posts you see. But I’m one of the millions who bought and would never have posted here, I’m doing this to literally help some of you abate your fears lol.

Let me start by saying I loved the iPhone Duo. Having such a big screen whenever you want it is powerful, and depending on what you do, it can really change your productivity. But the outer screen makes it a bad phone. Here's why:

1. It's bad for killing time. I use my phone for content, but more often than not, I just want to pass the time: on the toilet, in transit, or peeking at Twitter during a boring meeting. With the Duo, all of that was a hassle. Folded, it's heavy and the outer screen is too small to be useful. Unfolded, the experience is great, but it feels like full immersion when all I wanted was a quick break from boredom.

2. No Face ID. This frustrated me a lot. I set up my Apple Watch to unlock it, but everywhere else Touch ID meant hunting for the power button, which I kept losing track of depending on how I'd opened the phone. Once, it frustrated me so much that I went back to my old phone to get something done.

3. Going back to my iPhone 17 Pro was a relief. I immediately realized how easy it is to use. No hassle, no tiny screen, no hand gymnastics to find the Touch ID button, no heavy folded phone.

4. The one thing I loved was running Claude full screen. It meant I didn't touch my laptop at all. But I already spent CAD $3,300 on that laptop, and the phone was $3,200. Even though price isn't really an issue for me, I couldn't justify it, and after less than a week, my hands are tired from holding it.
I think I would have kept it if only it had Face ID.

What a wild ride the past week has been!

I've been waiting for an Apple foldable for years now so I'm bummed that cancelling feels like the right move right now.

I tend to own my iPhones for a fairly long time before upgrading (rocking a 12 Pro right now). Aside from my absolute disdain for Apple's new outer-screen-side-bar design language, I just don't feel like this first iteration has the legs to take me nearly as many years.

So I've freed up inventory for you brave souls and ordered a refurbished 17 Pro to bridge the gap until next year (12 Pro camera gave out).

I hope I'm wrong, but I wanted to post this for anyone else on the fence. If you're sure-footed and love your Duo or are excited to get yours, then I'm happy for you but this post ain't for you!

I also happened to pass by an authorized Apple store, iStudio, in Singapore, and I noticed that their only Apple Duo unit had been removed from the display. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture, but I swear it was gone after just two days!

Only to find out it also had a green line issue from its hinge according to its staff.

I stopped by to pick up an 18 pro max. This was my second trip to the Apple Store in the last few days.

On Saturday, I went to check out the duo display to see if I wanted to keep my preorder. After seeing the news and getting hands-on with the device, I decided to get the 18 pro max for now and wait and see how the next couple of months go.

Chinese scalpers (spending almost $3k per phone) are having trouble reselling their Duo’s due to the increase of software issues and screen cracking

Has anyone else had this issue. Placed for pick up through att financing and what not. It cancelled with no notification or anything. I was told something about information verification but positive everything was correct. Could it be because I have a Att and Best Buy pre order in progress ? Was planning on cancelling when I got the phone but glad I didn’t jump ahead. Just wanted to ask if anyone had this problem and has any idea what happened ?

How do I get the cracked screen feature? I've been using it with greasy fingers, lotions hands, on my MagSafe stands in my house, shower, car, tent mode on a hard table, played games on it, I even dropped it a couple times, no issues.

Title: iPhone Duo – Does anyone else notice slight creaking when applying pressure to the sides?
I’ve noticed something with my iPhone Duo and wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.
When I hold the phone and gently try to move the two halves in opposite directions with my fingers (as shown in the picture), I can feel a very slight creaking or clicking sensation.
It’s barely audible, but I can definitely feel something slightly shifting or creaking inside.
Yesterday, I went to an Apple Store to test a display model, and interestingly, it had a similar sensation, although it was much less noticeable than on mine.
I understand that the iPhone Duo consists of multiple components, including a hinge mechanism, and that some amount of play or movement between parts might be completely normal.
So I’m curious: Does anyone else experience this with their iPhone Duo?
I’m not necessarily calling it a defect, since it might just be normal behavior due to the design. I just want to figure out whether this is something all units have or if mine has slightly more play than usual.

Basically 90% of the apps on DUO are nightmare apart of Netflix and since I know Plex are lazy to do anything other than make worse updates I decided not to wait and make my own version that connects to my Plex server over the internet and here its.

The app made specific to my room and my room automation and apps available inside my room from games to media apps and more, also the gaming section is basically games script on my PC when I press on them in the app they will switch my home theater input to PC and also start the game with the light and sound settings I picked for this specific game.

I made also custom player which I can control my room lights and AC with pre set modes on it.

Have it since Friday, for the last days I checked a lot for bumps and could never see anything.
Today I saw the bump at the bottom.

So I received the Spigen screen protector yesterday and today I got this email from Amazon. Didn’t know there’s an issue with this particular one because mine installed perfectly. Although I can’t fit the Apple front casing now which is fine for me since I don’t like it, it’s too thick. Just sharing this.

I’ve had the Duo for a couple of days. Loved the design, multitasking and versatility. Unfortunately, it’s not for me. Face ID is a must. Especially in the car. Also, when it unfolds and you have to press buttons for Touch ID is disorienting. I’ll wait until it’s implemented next year hopefully.

Planning to get the iPhone Duo from the US, but the whole “crackgate” situation has me a bit worried.

If something goes wrong with the phone, especially the cracking issue everyone’s talking about, will Apple India repair or replace it under warranty? Or will I have to send it back to the US?

Has anyone bought an iPhone from the US and gotten it serviced in India? Would love to hear about your actual experience with Apple’s international warranty.

The price difference makes importing it tempting, but I don’t want to end up regretting it if something goes wrong.

Would you take the risk or just buy it in India?
