no politics Amazon Prime AU $99 price hike lists "Amazon Luna" as a benefit — but there is zero cloud streaming in Australia
Got an email from Amazon AU announcing the Prime membership price hike from $79 to $99/year. In their justification email, they explicitly cite "games with Amazon Luna" as one of the growing perks included in the subscription.
I decided to actually check out this "Luna" service, expecting a browser-based cloud streaming platform (similar to GeForce NOW or xCloud where you stream games instantly without local install).
Turns out, it's completely misleading for Australian users:
| Feature | What "Amazon Luna" implies globally | What Amazon AU actually gives you |
|---|---|---|
| How games run | Instant browser streaming | Third-party key giveaways (GOG / Epic) |
| Storage required | 0 MB | 50 GB to 70+ GB local downloads |
| Extra requirements | None | Must create third-party accounts & launchers |
When you open Luna from an Australian IP, there is no "Play Now" cloud streaming option. Instead, clicking Luna links redirects you to a claims portal that passes out GOG or Epic keys.
To actually play something like DOOM you have to download 50GB–70GB+ installer files onto your local drive and install third-party store launchers.
Using downloadable third-party PC code giveaways "games with Amazon Luna" as a benefit included with an annual subscription price rise—when there are no actual Australian cloud streaming servers hosted for Luna—feels like pure marketing spin and a deceptive omission of hidden disk storage costs.
I will pay the increased Amazon Prime annual fee as I use it mainly for the free order shipping but this kind of deceptive marketing has no place in Australia.

image Aussies — did anyone get one of these Marvel popcorn tins back in 2010/11 or 2015?
Long shot, but I'm hoping someone in Australia might remember these.
I'm chasing three metal cinema popcorn tins, and I think Australia is where at least two of them came from.
- Iron Man 2, 2010 — the silver tin in the first photo. I know this one was released in Australia.
- Captain America: The First Avenger — the one in the second photo, the one that says "Only at the Movies". Also an Australian release as far as I know.
- Fantastic Four, 2015 — the dark one in the third photo,
Not the 2025 First Steps buckets. I don't know where this one came out — could it have been Australia too? If you saw it at a cinema here in 2015, that would be a huge help.
I'm in Chicago now but I'll pay shipping from anywhere, so location isn't a problem if you've got one or you've seen one for sale.
I've already searched Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Gumtree, Trade Me and Vinted pretty thoroughly, so I'm really just hoping someone here has one tucked away or remembers where they got theirs.
If you've got one or you've seen one, drop a comment with a link and I'll take it from there. Condition isn't a dealbreaker. Cheers and thank you in advance.
