I've been obsessing over naming a future kid after the street / neighborhood I grew up in.
The street name itself (which I'm not sharing, that would dox me down to about a block) is the original landowner's surname, and it also works as a first name.

I am 6 months along and am very visibly pregnant, and every single day that I’ve commuted to work on the metro since my pregnancy has become obvious, I have stood in a crowded car while everyone seated stares at their phone. A few people have even looked up, registered my big belly, and then quickly looked back at their phones.
While I will survive my commute at this stage of pregnancy without sitting down, being pregnant is uncomfortable and it would be so nice if an able bodied person, especially one sitting in a seat reserved for people with disabilities, offered me their seat.
There will come a point when I’m further along in my pregnancy and am less able to stand for long periods, and at that point I’ll have to ask people to let me sit down. It would be so nice if people could just have an ounce of situational awareness so that we can all avoid me having to ask you to move. And for what it’s worth, you’ll look like a hero and put all the other metro riders to shame if you offer a pregnant lady your seat.
(And before anyone says they don’t want to offend a non-pregnant person who might just look pregnant by offering their seat, I promise you: 1) that ain’t me! I look very pregnant, and 2) you don’t have to explicitly reference pregnancy as the reason for your kind gesture.)

Seeking couples resentment therapy in the DMV area. Virtual is okay. Preferably takes insurance.
Struggling to let go of issues related to spouses poor financial decision making, personal business decisions etc. Decisions that have caused major impacts to our current and future finances.
General couples therapy has only been affective at improving day to day communication and only scratches the surface of the deeper issue.
Thanks!

I live near the Chinese embassy and often I will drive past it on Van Ness St NW to get between Connecticut Ave to Wisconsin Ave, sometimes at very late at night, around 2-3am. I have noticed there is always an Asian man standing across the street no matter the weather (rain, cold, etc.) that seems to be on the lookout for something. I am just wondering if anyone knows why this happens because I find it very odd the embassy just wouldn't watch their perimeter with CCTV cameras. I noticed they put up razor wire around their fence line about 6 months ago.
Sort of an odd question, but it crosses my mind every time I drive past.

Hi, I'm Lissette, I have been working with these cats for a year trying to get them adopted. They are pretty neat cats, most people just don't want to adopt 2 cats at once. Let me tell you about my goofball roommates. They came from Afghanistan in 2024. They were a bit nervous being in a new country but they have now adjusted and are showing us all of their personality!
Sweet is a huge hugger, loves being pet when he hugs you. He loves his food, goes crazy for big toy wands or laser pointers. He and Charlotte both love catnip toys. He got 20 teeth removed due to gingivits but eats like nothing happened. His adoption fee is waived! He makes the best biscuits. Even does it when you pet him while he sleeps. He loves sleeping with his human at night and both cats like sitting with you to watch TV, play video games, sew, etc. They think your cooking is their personal food show so they love watching and having opinions on that too!
Charlotte is the chatty one. Loves chatting, frilling and rolling around as you pet her. She will give you headbutts in return. She's down for playing too. Loves her catnip toys. A bit jumpy so neither cat can do dogs or little children that run around most likely. Good with older kids that respect their boundaries. Charlotte also loves food and especially loves bunning up on your desk next to you, or even in front of you, if you let her. Both cats need strong scratch posts made with rope or stronger material.
Sweet isn't good on his own and has, opinions about other cats , (and the vet but what cat doesn't?) Charlotte is the one cat that doesn't trigger his chase instinct cause she aint afraid of no cat. Charlotte for a long time pretended to be this too cool for other cats cat, until she met Sweet and they are now ride or dies. That's why we are trying to get them adopted together.
Thanks for reading my schpeel about these goofball roommates of mine. This is NOT a rehoming situation. These are foster cats, this arrangement was meant to be temporary because I want to keep saving cats through the foster system. They are great set and forget cats that tendf to do their own thing most of the time but are great cuddlers and have entertaining zoomy sessions. Message me or comment if these sound like your kin!

I know outdoor cats are a thing, but with Halloween coming up it's better to be safe than sorry. [Another picture](https://i.imgur.com/XO14pat.jpeg)
He/she did not allow me to get close enough to read the tag, and unfortunately I did not have food or water to offer.
Please let me know if this is your cat so I can help! (Or please let me know if it is an outdoor cat so I can stop worrying)

Hi.
I, 26 and blind, currently live in very rural Alabama and am trying to escape my not good, to say the least, home situation. I know that DC has solid public transit and I have career hopes of getting some kind of entry-level job to start with. Once stable, I plan to go for law school, and then eventually congress.
The place where I've lived my entire life doesn't have any good jobs, much less ones that would hire a blind guy because employers see us as liabilities or problems to be managed.
My plan is to find entry-level jobs, apply under schedule-A, and finally move.
Thoughts?
DC is one of the few places across the country that I can live independently without worrying about having to rely on someone else's car or timeframe. Rural America is depressing if you can't drive yourself.
Thanks for reading my rambling LOL.

The outline has a $25 million two phase redevelopment plan from Ein and co. while the district contributes $9.5 million. Ein’s Rollingwood Sports would rebuild the main court, outer courts, replace lighting and electrical, locker rooms, offices, rest rooms, recreational fields, and do the landscaping. The second phase would replacing the five-court tennis bubble, add a second indoor bubble, and additional viewing stands.

Seriously, exceptional healthcare professionals with wonderful personalities are hard to find. Casey O’Bryan is loved by many—I’ve heard that firsthand from people I’ve met who casually mention One Medical at DuPont Circle. Somehow, she always comes up, or someone knows her.
I’ve been seeing her for years, since the DuPont Circle office opened or shortly afterward, and I’d follow her wherever she goes. I truly prefer her as my PCP. Although I know she’s technically an FNP, she’s far better at treating and connecting with patients than many PCPs and physicians with a god complex.
If anyone knows where she’s practicing now, please share the details. Exceptional healthcare professionals—like great hairdressers, attorneys, and mechanics—are hard to find, and Casey is one of them.

UPDATE (10/28/26, 11am) : I called DC Police and US Marshalls this morning and after confirming twice, the tags are FAKE!!! the vehicle tags turned out to be fake. The individuals identified themselves as U.S. Marshals, but the tags are not real--please be safe everyone--they did not take anyone this time but please be careful and safe and if you are a bystander, stay, record, question, take photos!!!
Heads-up: possible ICE activity near 5432 Connecticut Ave NW
Posting to warn neighbors: October 27, 2026, I encountered people at 5432 Connecticut Ave NW wearing vests labeled “U.S. Marshals.” The vests looked fake.
I approached them and asked what they were doing there. They identified themselves as marshals, said they were looking for a sex offender, and then left.
A few of us witnesses are concerned this may have been ICE activity. I’m sharing what I personally witnessed so neighbors are aware. Photos of the vehicles are attached.
Stay safe everyone!

Local hospitals used to offer free classes for expecting parents in labor prep, breastfeeding, and care in the first 4 months — but now I can’t find anything and my doctor had no referrals other than an NP in the practice that does private (read: expensive) classes.
Thanks for the recs

I know there are a lot of mixed feelings on tiktok about Ira J, but I was curious what the general consensus on here is.
If you’re unaware, Ira J is a man with around 160,000 followers on tiktok, and he frequently posts videos of himself filming random strangers on the street (usually around 14th St and Dupont) and narrating their lives. Part of me finds it amusing, but the other part of me is uncomfortable for the people who have no idea they’re being filmed and broadcasted to almost 200k people.
I’ve actually met Ira in person a couple times out and about when I recognized him and he’s very nice, but I’m still not sure how to feel about the whole filming strangers aspect, even if it’s done in a silly way.
Thoughts? Would love to hear more opinions than just tiktok comments!

My friend Juan’s cat escaped and is roaming the neighborhood. We’re trying to bring him home! Juan lives in the Potomac Gardens apartments near G St SE and 12 St SE. The cat’s name is Ninja and is wearing a collar with a bell and info. Juan is offering a small reward!

Hi all,
I hope this is appropriate, please delete if not. I am listening to the Audiobook “call me god” and as an Englishmen I cannot comprehend how scary it must of been, any firsthand experiences would be fascinating,
Please delete if not suitable.
Thanks
