how do yall survive a particular bad, draining and js horrible break up during like exam seasons and stuff. i’m really trying to move on and pick myself up but can’t rlly seem to. it’s been a whole semester of straight misery.

Just want to know the various recre clubs or groups that play on campus and your general experience. I went for the recre ulti clinic by varsity last sem, but it seems to be a sem2 only thing, so are there any others that are open to people joining on campus?

I'm a y3 SoC student and will do a credit-bearing internship next semester. I have signed a contract which lasted 7 months which will ended during June. However, I was offered another internship for the summer period and really want to do this one also. Have anyone tried to ask the company to cut short the period of the internship before and how does it go? Thank you in advance

Not my car so I censored their license plate.

so i'm some1 who applied for NUS last year but failed. I didn't really have correct documentation at the time so I wasn't expecting to get accepted anyway but now a lot more things are clear so I really need help from someone who has been through this! This is technically my third gap-year and all I have to show for skills is two certificates from Coursera from last year (2025). I want to apply again in 2027, so are there any specific courses or anything I can add to achievements to improve my chances? I'm aiming for the Sociology course and any help is a big help 😭

pls feel free to ask questions if u feel the need

Oh, I will also be applying to NTU so if u think my chances r better there lmk 😭

Hi - as per the title. What’s the admission process for international A level students where application is made with predicted grades? Are conditional offers issued subject to submitting actual grades before enrollment ?

i’m currently in y1s1 and recently applied to transfer from CDE to FASS. i’m a former poly student from a stem-related course. the past 2-3 months have been really tough and dreadful for me. i think i did phenomenally bad for cs1010e, and for my other modules i’ve scored slightly below the mean / median.

one reason attributed for my poor performance is post-ns brain fog. another is the steep learning curve, since in poly i was used to studying practical applications rather than the mathematical side of things. and i could foresee myself dreading every second of it for the next few years of my life since my interest in this field is quickly fading, which is affecting me mentally.

the only module that interests me, and that i’m doing quite well in, is a chs-related UE. i’ve always enjoyed humanities subjects since secondary school and even in poly (as a side elective). however, i’m slightly below the 10th percentile cut-off for chs, so i think my chances are quite slim.

are there any seniors who have successfully transferred faculties, especially out of cde? and if not, how do y'all cope? would really appreciate hearing about your experience. thank you!

I will be applying for the Economics and Data Science course at NUS. On the programme prerequisites for IBDP, it requires a very good pass in HL MAA. I currently sit at a 43 PG but with a 6 in AA HL, so would it impact my chances, or is it barely dependent on PGs.

Good day everyone,

So housing applications for sem 2 will open soon, and it would be really beneficial to get a place to stay here. (the commute to and fro home is an hour + each way!).

The issue is that the housing guys rejected my application for semester 1, and I am scared that they will do the same again for the application this semester.

So... what can be done to increase the chances of getting a spot in NUS? Which hostels/locations have the highest acceptance rate (which are cheap as well!). and are there any strats/ things that should be said?

Finally, what actions can be taken if they do decide to reject the application again? Whose desk can I go bang on!

Anyways, thank you all for reading. Looking forward to your replies!

Ok people so listen up, how did yall do for midterms? Idk how but i somehow got 60/100 which is fking crazy because I dont know WHAT was going on in the exam like im gna be so for real. Whattt was that exam??

Anyways so like i clearly need to lock in and shi, can people tell me how to study for this subject 😔 i dont even unds whats going on until tdy plspls

This might lowk be the hardest mod i take other than hsi grrr

hi, y1 fass major here! i have two questions about submitting assignments in NUS:

firstly, for academic writing assignments in nus, how do our tutors generally assess/tell if we used AI improperly and/or did not declare it? from my understanding they don’t use AI models to detect AI writing anymore so do they just eyeball it and like infer from writing style/sentence structures?? oh and also maybe from our reference list/citations? im kinda confused like how do they tell?

and also a more specific question to my current predicament…. are nus TAs or profs generally understanding when it comes to genuine careless mistakes in our citations? for example, in my recent essay submitted, for like two of my in-text citations, turnitin flagged like 5 words which i GENUINELY forgot to put quotation marks for 😭 i have my footnotes in that sentence + mentioned name of author and ofc had the reference to the article in my bibliography but i just forgot to put quotation marks for those few words in-text and so it was flagged.. its not that those sentences were standalone and like without footnotes and/or author name 🫩 btw i had to use chicago citation style for this assignment so i genuinely was so busy with the stupid footnotes that i made these careless mistakes

this is my first assignment with turnitin so im genuinely worried and scared now that im going to get accused for plagiarism 😭 my overall similarity score was about 1% for this assignment pleaseeeee helpppppp

Hi again, I posted here a few weeks ago about Milo, the Telegram AI companion I’m building.

Last time I focused on project chats. But he’s also meant to be someone your group can have fun with

You can joke with him, make fun of him, drag him into your group’s completely pointless arguments. He can take a joke and answer back

Basically, if your group chat is 90% nonsense and 10% trying to organise something, that also works

He remembers what’s said after he joins, so you don’t have to explain the whole story every time. He replies when tagged or replied to directly.

Still useful for plans, looking for stuff or decision-settling and catching up. But I think the fun is important too 👀

I’m the developer. Would genuinely like to know whether your group enjoys having him around or kicks him out after ten minutes, and how bad he roasts you or he's too nice

If you’re keen, let the roast begin: https://addmilo.chat

hellooo!

does anyone wanna sell me a lanyard? not the co-op one, something more specific (i.e., for faculty of science, or math department)

can also be any variant/design of nus

thank youu!

I tried both, they identified as GPT-6 (No version explicitly stated) and presumably on instant levels of effort. Chatgpt has workspace locked out for NUS, whereas free plans still have workspace with GPT 6 Luna with extra high effort on the slider.

What exactly is the advantage of the university provided plan versus the free plan for non CS students? Feels kinda limited???

i myself use ai heavily to guide my writing, and I try to direct the ai as much as i can and reword my writings. But I've heard of people just straight up ctrl c+v their whole report and getting a higher grade than my grp.

Does NUS really not use the turnitin ai detection feature or are profs actually aware but not care as long as AI usage is declared?

Could anyone give me a brief overview of what each hall is like and their speciality? I read another post but it’s like 6 years old and if exchange students are allowed to participate in the activities like sports and arts

Hello! I'm keen on starting an RAssoc position next year-ish (I hope!). I sort of have an idea on how it goes in NTU but I'm curious if NUS is different.

Looking for any past/present Research Associates on this Reddit with anything to tell me about the experience, specifically the workload, expectations (was it WFH/flexible or very in-office policy), general lifestyle, lab members/team bonding, PI relationships, other processes or surprises you encountered, etc. Any RAs or Research Fellows also more than welcome to chime in!

Thanks a lot!

It's been at least 3 months since i enter uni. I have been trying enough to do decently for this mod. I am getting cooked by this mod. I am lost anything after Strings. If i cant do this mod, I am not able to do well for CS2040C next sem. Please suggest some ways I can study or even understand what the code is trying to ask ?

Please dun cook me. I am Y1S1 CEG student.

Please take care of yourselves when exercising and don’t over exert. There will always be another day to train.

Just wondering cause I remember seeing from somewhere that they did consider, but google is telling me they don't

I (23m) met my gf (from Taiwan) online in 2020. She was the one who motivated me back in poly to the point where I am now in NUS.

This is happiest thing I can ever have. The feeling of the heart pounding fast or ache in response to my gf's emotions is a real thing and it's insane how unreal that feels. We feel so connected that it has motivated both of us to do our best in school and it's quite insane how far we've went.

Before my gf, I always wanted to find someone who's interested in me in Singapore, cause it's more intuitive. I'm a Singaporean so I should look for a Singaporean. That's the natural tendency.

But then, no girl was interested in me. Every girl either friend zones me or finds me boring af, and I'm still not sure why because I'm not telepathic. I don't know whether someone really means what they say or how the demographics here really think about my kind of profile.

So, my guess is that it makes sense, because I'm "nerdier" (though my acads aren't that great). For example, I like to talk about astronomy, economics, sociology, psychology, or whatever that's under the sun honestly. I'm a generalist rather than a specialist.

I'm also really short for a guy (like 162cm or something) and look pretty ugly (as what my guess is; other guys I spoke to in SG think I'm like a 2/10 or something).

I don't really care though. The internet at least provided me a safe space to talk about all kinds of topics while I learn more about myself and find parts of me that can still improve on.

Then came my gf whom I met online, who instantly fell in love with me before I told her physical traits of me. I was thinking like, "Damn, you serious?" in my mind. Then I told her about my physical traits and she doesn't care because she told me, "You will 100% be a good father." Holy. What a sudden statement.

We've met multiple times already, and no, she isn't cheating on me. I have 100% confidence. She will be protected and she told me as well, "I will also protect you." (She's taller than me; but we also have a thing for mutual respect and care).

I thank my lucky stars for this girl, as I now have motivations to fulfil my ambitions!

I believe that, with the right amount of luck, direction, and working with your inner self, y'all can grab too.

Based on the reviews on Nusmods, both modules seem to be covering on fundamental game theory concepts (Nash Equilibrium, dominance, static and dynamic games, auctions etc). Anybody knows if there are any major differences between the 2 modules especially since they dont preclude each other?
