SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE

Your locally-elected representatives that serve as the community’s advocates for public education. They are responsible for student achievement and well-being, for ensuring effective stewardship of the board’s resources and for delivering effective and appropriate education programs for their students.

WHICH BOARD AM I VOTING FOR

In Ontario, there are English public and Catholic (separate) school boards, as well as French Catholic and public boards. People are assigned to the English Public school board by default.

You can only be a supporter of a French or Catholic board if you are of the Catholic faith or speak French as a first language.

You can set your school support designation through MPAC:

June 1 was the deadline to update your school support designation so MPAC could provide accurate information to Elections Ontario for the creation of the Preliminary List of Electors, in accordance with election timelines. You can still update your designation after June 1 using MPAC AboutMyProperty™ or MPAC’s online portal for tenants. Your change will be recorded by MPAC, but it will not appear on the Preliminary List of Electors. After submitting your update, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Share this with your municipality so your information can be updated on the final Voters List.

Bylaws, Permits & Municipal Politics Mississauga is getting double screwed on Peel Police funding.

Peel Police's 2026 budget is $837M, up 9.9%.

- Mississauga pays 62% ($519M), Brampton pays 38% ($318M), despite roughly equal populations.

- Mississauga estimates we're overpaying by $104M annually compared to a population-based split.

Annual police cost per resident:

- Peel: $525

- Toronto: $442

- York: $385

- Halton: $384

- Ottawa: $372

So Peel policing is already significantly more expensive per resident than comparable Ontario regions, and Mississauga pays a disproportionate share.

Why are Mississauga taxpayers paying so much more? Is the funding formula justified by actual crime rates and policing demand?

Looking for psychiatrist/ GP that knows about mental health

Long story short, i was in mental health crisis earlier this year and ended up at the outpatient clinic. The psychiatrist from the outpatient clinic dropped me while prescribing me a type of medication that needs constant monitoring. My GP isn’t familiar with mental health for some obvious reason like i asked him few times referring me to a psychiatrist he declined my request with reasons like he doesn’t know what to do next or he will do some research on it.

I would like recommendations for family doctor that’s currently accepting new patients or what can i suggest my GP to do for me. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you!!

Lost phone in the Miway bus! Please help

Today afternoon (October 27th) I accidentally hopped off the 4W bus at [camilla rd at cherry post dr] at 4:00pm.... it wasn't until right when i stepped on the sidewalk that I suddenly realized I left my phone on the bus. Then the bus took off and I thought I could chase it but my backpack was too heavy. Yet another reason to hate school.

I marked my phone as lost through find my hub google, simply because my phone location is turned off so I can't even track my phone now!

My phone is green and leathery with a black case on it. The black case has this sliding door that covers the cam lens. My phone is a third party phone, motorola but its OS system is android. My phone has a yellow wallpaper on it however because i marked it as lost, you might not be able to see the wallpaper... but there is a written message i typed on it which is if somebody does find it.

If you took the 4W and saw my phone today and use reddit please let me know PLEASE. I'm so fucking cooked, I feel like the most irresponsible pos in the world rn

ISO personal trainer who can come to me

Hi guys! Not sure if this is the best way to find one, but I’m looking for a personal trainer.

Ideally someone who could meet with me 1-2 per week at the gym in my condo building. I’d like to focus on strength training.

Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Shopping, Fitness & Recreation Advice Needed: Activities for 60+?

My moms birthday is coming up and I want to pre-purchase some sort of course / fitness program for her to attend.

She works from home, and outside of work does not have any friends or hobbies. She also is very inactive health wise, so as she gets older I am more and more concerned about her future in Mississauga living alone and would like to get her a gift which will invest in her wellness / help her build a community. She also generally isn’t a gifts person so I figured I would try something new this year

I know the city of Mississauga has some drop in classes, but I want to pre-register her for some sort of course (arts or low impact fitness) so she has no choice but to show up. As with her the biggest issue is getting her to kickstart these types of things - if the ball is in her court she will not go. She is very reliant on us her kids for company and other than going to the grocery store and occasionally the office she does not leave the house for much :(

Example of what I am looking for : a multiweek fitness course happening once a week or a multiweek arts course happening once a week. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! Hoping pre-registering her in something like this as a gift will help kickstart her into wanting to do these things on her own.

She is in her early 60s, and would also not want to attend a course which is mainly older seniors, so looking for something within the 55-67 year old age group.

Local News How is allowing a deferred tax payment on property tax increases for Seniors, fair for young people who are renting or paying hefty mortgages + property tax?

What am I missing here? It's also specifically for seniors who've owned their homes for 20+ years, meaning they bought in 2006 or earlier.

Also, doesn't the shortfall in not increasing one group's taxes, mean the money has to be made up elsewhere somehow?

What can be done to put an end to this menace? They're easily going 60-70+ in 40 kmph areas. The city installed temporary bollards last year but they've since been removed.

Suggestions for places that still have kids Halloween costumes

My child's diy costume didn't work out last minute and I'm trying to find something for my kid. Most stores have barely anything left. Looking for places that I probably haven't thought of!

It takes courage to run for public office. Many of you had great ideas to make our communities better. I hope that today's winners champion your good ideas.

Don't let today's results deter you from staying involved.

To those that didn't run for office: consider offering your services to the public. Volunteering is the first step to civic engagement. It's the UN year of the volunteer. We all benefit when we have good people working together.
