Edited to add: We’re going to make it fit. When he gets home from work tonight we’ll give the people what they want.

For context:
I’m getting married to my fiancée in April. My mom and dad have not been on speaking terms since early 2020 so this will make my wedding a little more tense than I’d like it to be. My parents were never married and did not raise me or my sister. Both of my parents (and my older sister) have asked me for money in the past. My father has stopped after several times of me telling him to and my sister hasn’t asked in a long time. My mother is the only one that still consistently asks for money, even after many times of telling her to stop. As recently as two days before receiving this text. This whole situation makes me feel very cold towards her. Whenever she reaches out after a long time of not reaching out, I know what comes next. She has had a boyfriend for a long time, probably longer than my parents have been separated because she cheated on my dad with this man. I recently asked her not to bring him to my wedding as this will only cause more tension between my sides of the family. This text is from said boyfriend. I feel no obligation to make my mother feel better about our relationship, in fact, she’s lucky to be invited at all. My grandmother will be there in the mother-of-the-bride position because she raised me. Letting her bring this boyfriend would have been quite the accommodation; one that I don’t feel I have to make.

I'm not okay with uploading my selfie (followed by my ID) to an already data hungry company like Meta

In 2026, I paid $270/mo for health insurance + dental. It's no longer available, and this is the cheapest I can get. I also don't qualify for any tax credits.
EDIT:
EDIT 2:

riding the train in China and the girl next to me gets up, grabs her bags, and just... leaves her cup of water sitting on the tray table. not empty either, like half full. it takes two seconds to grab your cup. it's not even about being tidy, it's just that the seat isn't yours anymore.

Ordered from First Club India (Bangalore). Assume this is a metal manufacturing part or something. Fortunately I pour content into a plate to eat usually and don’t directly empty into mouth.

My daughter is in kindergarten. It's a gifted and talented class and she is doing really well. She was very upset that she got this wrong. I asked the teacher. Teacher says it's a ram. I pointed out the goatee and that it's horns are not curved. I pointed out the goat next to the Gg worksheet title. Nope. It's a ram. I asked what the fifth item was that starts with G? It's the girl. I thought that was a doll.
G is for Ram.

As someone who has to make quick notes all the time, its so mildly infuriating having to rotate my note pad after or before every use just to make sure my next note isnt upside down

I was talking Christmas plans with my coworkers and mentioned that my uncle Serg, who immigrated from Russia in the 90s, makes a huge deal out of Christmas and came up with a bunch of traditions. Before I even finished my sentence, the new guys cuts in with "Actually, its pronounced Sergei, and Russians don't celebrate western Christmas, because it's not a festival for the -oh, what's the word in english, OH- Orthodox religion. I lived in Russia for a while in my 20s, it was a really weird culture shock." We all just nodded awkwardly and carried on, but dude. I will call MY uncle the name he asked me to use, and he may not have grown up celebrating western christmas, but he has for the last 30-some years. Quit acting like you know my family better than I do just because you lived in his home country for a hot second. And don’t act like you forgot the word "orthodox", weirdo.
Edit: Serg's full name is Sergei, so my coworker didn’t correct my pronunciation so much as assume I was mispronouncing it. So using the word "pronounce" in the title was a little misleading. Serg has only gone by Serg for my entire life, I've never heard anybody-family, friends, acquaintances-call him anything else.
