(Asynchronous Play By Post Game)
The Time of the Red is a veritable gold rush for edgerunners, with corps, gangs, nomads, posers, execs, fixers, and everyone in between hiring help to scratch and claw their way up the Night City ladder. But you know better than that, the way to get rich during a gold rush isn't to mine, it's to sell shovels.
Our party has a simple goal; to open the best goddamn bar in Night City. While every other gonk with a handgun is looking for their next big contract so they can blow it all on synthcoke, our players are going to invest. Own the place slinging drinks, hosting fixers, hooking up solos with their next new piece. Even among the best of the best with their iron, your life expectancy gets a lot longer when you don't have to use it.
Let's get into some quick rules for the campaign before we go any further. No bigots, no AI (for text or images), no out-of-character assholes. Cyberpunk is a dark setting, but I don't want any monsters in the party. I'm not looking for anyone who's character is some sort of serial killer, predator, or anything else. I'm only looking for folks 18 and older for this campaign.
I'd like to shy away from extreme or especially dark content being shown on-screen. Some things will be referenced, but they won't be depicted. To give an example, a character could mention a child in their family's death, but there'll be no scenes in the campaign itself where we describe harm to children. Player-specific lines & veils will be collected before we play and made publicly visible so that everyone knows what lines not to cross.
Cyberpunk is similarly a sexualized setting, but the game itself will not involve erp or explicit sexual content. We'll be drawing the line at suggestive references, flirting, and fade-to-black for any time characters would actually engage in it. If you would that other characters not flirt with your PC, that's a completely fine line to establish and it will be respected.
I'm looking for players who can commit to frequent posts during the day for the central time zone, at least a post a day. I think PBP is easier if we can commit to consistent activity! Format wise, the players will not always have to adventure together. I think that it makes narrative sense if we have times where everyone works as a party and times where we split off into smaller groups or solo scenes as people chase different leads and check out different scenes! In cases like this, I'll split the group up into different channels and if one finishes early, we'll wait up until the other scene(s) are done. I'm thinking about six players total for this.
This is being played in the Time of the Red, specifically 2045. Night City 2045 is our lore bible for this, I'd prefer players with some familiarity with Red's world specifically over people coming from just the game/show as Night City's quite different here than it is in 2077.
As for allowed mechanical content, basically all of the CP:R expansions are on the table save for content specific to the Edgerunners books, since those are set in the future. Most of these little expansions are free and can be found on R. Talsorian's website for download. One thing to note is that I am -not- interested in Netrunners for PCs, sadly I just don't enjoy CPR's netrunning rules very much and I find it can bog down play. The party is going to have plenty of opportunities to recruit NPC netrunners to help them out so that those mechanics can be left off-screen.
The party is not being held together by some sort of external force like a shared employer, so you'll all have to know each other at the start of the campaign, somehow. One of you could be hired help, a friend of a friend, or just happening to be there for a first job before getting wrapped up in things. We can obviously talk details together and work things out as a group, but somehow, you will all decide to open a bar together. It's entirely allowed for that not to be your character's goal at the start of the campaign, but that's something they must come to pursue at some point.
Our first arc of the story will be simple; raising the money to open the bar. The amount required depends on the district chosen, which'll influence a lot of who you're rubbing elbows with as you go about everything you have to get done in order to get the place kicking. There'll be a large emphasis on characters, connections, and roleplay during this campaign, with who you choose to make friends with having a large impact on the opportunities available to your characters.
Starting with our act 2, the bar can have it's grand opening and we can focus on all the drama and complications that come with. Getting caught up in gang disputes over turf, corps trying to muscle in on your business opportunities, reaping the benefits of your various connections and learning that making a friend can sometimes make you an enemy you didn't know existed. All of this attempts to serve the goal of your bar becoming the hotspot for edgerunners in the city, a place where they can make teams, get contracts, and live life in NC to the fullest. You'll get to witness and impact the arcs of the folks at your bar; maybe you're slinging drinks to the next legend of Night City?
If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them, otherwise, the form to apply is right here.
