Take with a grain of salt but seems legit to me

Every game thread lately is people saying Bob is washed so I went and looked at more than just his save % and GAA, because honestly those stats mostly tell you how bad the team is infront of him tbh

And the team in front of him has been bad lol. He’s facing the 4th most high danger shots in the league and the 5th most shots at 5v5. We’re giving up the 8th most shot attempts at 5v5 and we’re tied for 2nd most 5v5 goals against. Our top 5 D averages like 33 years old and although talented, this is basically the same leaky team that led the league in shots against last year.

On the other hand, Bob is at +2.7 goals saved above expected. That stat already accounts for how dangerous the shots are, so being positive means he’s actually stopping more than an average goalie would behind this mess. Not to mention being 7th in the league in it after his first 4 starts too.

I’m not saying he’s been amazing. He’s 22nd out of 46 goalies in GSAx per 60 so he’s pretty much average right now. Also, giving up 3+ in 8 of 9 games isn’t fun to watch, last year in Florida wasn’t great, and yeah he’s 38.

But 9 games is nothing and calling him bad when the D is hanging him out to dry every night feels targeted .

I am a finance professional who works literally right next to Scotiabank Arena, and decided to purchase 2 Tuesday Leafs tickets, a) to make Tuesdays after work more fun/as a way to let off steam after work by watching a live event; b) because one of the players (Kirill) is named after the same Saint as me.

However, I will admit that I am not exactly a huge hockey fan. I’ll be sure to review the rulebook pre-game, and have seen some games on TV, but I’m not ultra familiar with the rest of the players.

Given this, how can I maximize/optimize my viewing experience as a casual fan? What can I do in Scotiabank to maximize my enjoyment (besides gambling!), and also maybe learn to love hockey in the best way possible.

I think this looks clean! First time in the modern era they've featured a leaf at centre crest without the inner writing, I believe. The vintage white is sharp, way better choice than those old Reverse Retros with the gray/silver.

You are forgiven if you didn’t see the first-period result and overall outcome coming, given how this game in Calgary started from the Maple Leafs’ perspective.
