Had a rather unusual experience while looking for a flat to rent in Kolkata, and I wanted to know if others have faced something similar.

I came across a Reddit post advertising a 3 BHK flat for rent. The rent seemed reasonable, so I contacted the person who posted it. They gave me their mobile number and asked me to get in touch there for further details.

When I texted in WhatsApp and asked about the availability of the flat, the very first thing they said was:

“It is available, but issue with non-veg food.”

And then, “Sorry.” That was pretty much the entire conversation.

Honestly, I was quite surprised. I've lived in Kolkata, and this is the first time I've encountered a landlord apparently making non-vegetarian food a condition for renting out a flat. I understand that landlords can have their own preferences and house rules, but I genuinely hadn't expected this to be an issue here.

So, I'm curious: Has anyone else in Kolkata faced something similar while looking for a rental? Is this more common than I thought, or was this just an unusual experience?

Would like to hear your experiences, especially from people who have rented flats in different parts of the city.

Hello guys, I rescued a 4weeks old kitten in August from my hospital, she had an eye infection. She has been staying under my care for last 3 months and currently because of the job that I do, it's difficult for me and my roommates to take care of her.

my cat has been missing and i genuinely don't know what to do anymore. keep hoping she'll randomly show up like nothing happened. keep going out to look for her. keep checking everywhere. and then come back home without her.

it's such a horrible feeling knowing your cat is somewhere out there and you have absolutely no idea if she's okay.

i miss her so much it's actually insane. i just want my cat back man. 💔

Recently since last few months, The costs of every single item are going crazyyy high. Like name.any item , be it rice , pulses, Eggs, onions ,cooking oil soaps and what not??

I live away from my home and studying engineering in a private college and can feel the rising prices of every thing every single day. And let me leave the costs of eating out in a cafe or restaurant. Honestly it has gone crazy but I can see my parents salaries has not increased to that level at all.

Right now, I can atleast eat out once or twice a month in cafe's and restaurants sometimes with friends. But what about after few years if it continues like this ?? The IT industry is in worst state rn and especially for a private college guy like me and probably if I don't get a job what will i even eat ???? And not even IT jobs, the state of govt exams are also worst. Tahole korbo ta ki???

My father works private job and he will retire in 2 years and he doesn't have huge savings or land either. That time I won't even have the ability to fulfill my own basic needs. R erom crazy level er inflation hole beche thaka o mushkil.hoe jabe. R on top of that I already have a disability ( Bipolar disorder), so it's more tougher for me to stay sane and sustain a life.

I don't know if I am overthinking too much since last few days or its a real problem but ig future is too scary ...
