Android (android) My default comment sorting is "top" but when I open comment sections, sorting always reverts back to "best" despite what it says in my settings (version 2026.42.0.2642020)

Is anybody else having this issue? I submitted another post a couple weeks ago but I didn't get any comments or notifications from anybody. Losing my mind over this issue.

Desktop Web [Browser] Firefox: Home feed recommendations are back on my feed and the option to remove them is gone

I had disabled home feed recommendations a while ago, but noticed that they are back on. I went to remove them again and now the option is missing from my preferences. How do I remove the home feed recommendations so I can actually find the posts I care about?

Android Reddit [Android]app stops showing chat request message previews after a few hours- version 2026.43.1

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm using the Reddit Android app. My chat requests show only “[username] invited you” instead of the actual message preview.

The messages are visible when I open Reddit in my mobile browser. I updated the app and cleared its cache, but neither helped. Uninstalling and reinstalling temporarily fixed the issue, and all message previews appeared again. However, after a few hours, the same problem returned.

This seems to be a recurring Android app issue. Please investigate why chat request previews stop displaying correctly.

No matter what I try on my phone whether it’s the mobile app or the webpage on Safari or Chrome I get this message or nothing at all and can’t post videos yet I see others posting videos that are 5 minutes or longer.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, logging out and in, updating the app, and still nothing.

iOS [Firefox] I am unable to mute subs reliably - version 153.5.1esr

In the Popular feed, I keep muting subreddits, but they reappear. When I check my settings for muting, they disappear. It happens in the app as well. It's been happening for at least a year. What can I do to stop seeing these terrible subs?

Dev/Admin Responded [Desktop & Mobile Web] Recommended posts from subreddits I'm not subscribed to appearing in home feed even though I have that setting disabled

I downloaded the app and opened old.reddit.com just to check the settings again

(Which, sidenote, why aren't all the same settings available on all forms of reddit? Annoying that you have to know which platform has which setting)

and confirmed that:

  • "show recommendations in home feed" is off - app
  • "show trending subreddits on the home feed" is off - old.reddit.com

And yet I am getting a recommended post like every other post on my home feed

It only happens on mobile web and new desktop web

Old desktop web and app seem to be working properly

Android Searching for the "Aniimo" game here shows me Insest content [android]

Post image

It's to be a bug, as it's auto correcting to something foreign. Aniimo is a creature catching game, like Pokémon and has NO RELATION TO INSEST AT ALL.

Also this content is going to be illegal in my country soon I ain't getting in trouble for this

Mobile Web [desktop web] Account reinstated after wrongful spam suspension, but all posts and comments are still automatically removed

Hi everyone,

A couple of days ago, my Reddit account was mistakenly suspended. After appealing, Reddit acknowledged that my account had been incorrectly caught by its spam filter and restored it.

However, ever since the suspension was lifted, every single post and comment I make seems to be automatically removed, regardless of the subreddit.

Before the mistaken suspension, I had absolutely no issues posting or commenting. I don't spam, I don't post excessively, and I haven't changed my posting habits.

I understand how Reddit's reputation filters, account trust, and spam prevention systems work, but it's practically impossible to rebuild account trust when literally everything I post or comment gets filtered out.

Since this only started happening immediately after Reddit acknowledged and reversed the mistaken suspension, I strongly suspect that some automated restriction or spam flag is still incorrectly associated with my account.

Could a Reddit administrator kindly review my account and check whether any restrictions remain in place? I would really appreciate having my account fully restored to its previous working state, before the erroneous suspension.

I've already gone through the appeal process successfully, so I'm simply trying to understand why my account is still being treated as suspicious.

Thank you so much for your time and any assistance. I'd genuinely appreciate some help resolving this!

iOS [iOS] Missing back button when following links from modmail [App v 2026.43.0.671524 (AppStore)]

[iOS] Intermittent issue with missing back button when following links from modmail [App v 2026.43.0.671524 (AppStore)]
___

Problem: When following links from modmail, the back button is missing from the upper-left corner to go back to the modmail message.

Workaround: Swiping back from the edge of the screen will usually work, but that’s where problem 2 comes in. Sometimes swiping back doesn’t do anything and you have to restart the app, or navigate back there manually.

Desktop Web [Chrome] Uploaded profile photo reverts to the default cartoon avatar

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Platform: Chrome on Windows, desktop web. Same result in the Android app.

What happened: I uploaded a profile photo under Settings > Profile > Avatar. It showed briefly, then my profile went back to the default cartoon avatar Reddit assigned when I created the account today. Uploading from the Android app gave the same result.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Settings > Profile > Avatar, upload a JPG photo and save.

  2. The photo shows on the settings page.

  3. Open my profile or any other page. The default cartoon avatar shows instead.

Expected: My uploaded photo replaces the cartoon avatar.

Actual: The cartoon keeps overriding the photo, including in a private window, so it isn't browser cache.

Screenshots attached.

Android Android app feed showing old posts

For the last month or so, the most common posts on my feed are usually 3-5 days old. Thought this was an interim issue, but has not returned to normal.

I can see there's a few posts on here reporting the same issue across various platforms/operating systems, but can't locate any responses/further info

Assuming the silence means that it is a new ~feature and not a bug - can someone please confirm or advise otherwise?

Thanks!

Desktop Web Desktop Web (Chrome 151.0.7922.109, macOS 26.6.1) - Avatar save fails: No profile ID

Description:

On reddit.com/settings/profile, uploading an avatar image appears to work: the preview loads in the Avatar image dialog. Clicking Save displays the banner “There was a problem saving your avatar.”

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Sign in on Desktop Web.

  2. Open https://www.reddit.com/settings/profile.

  3. Choose Avatar > Select a new image and select an image.

  4. Click Save.

Expected result:

The avatar is saved and replaces the current avatar.

Actual result:

A generic save error appears. Chrome DevTools Console shows:

- Uncaught: No profile ID for profile settings page

- Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'state')

Environment:

- Reddit Desktop Web

- Google Chrome 151.0.7922.109

- macOS 26.6.1

Notes:

I reproduced it with a small JPEG (192 KB, 1254×1254), so the issue does not appear to be file size.

Dev/Admin Responded [desktop web] Archived posts appear to be allowing comments

I noticed this yesterday in one sub that I moderate, but chalked it up to a fluke. But I just noticed it again today in another sub that I also moderate.

In both cases, the post was archived. One post I'm talking about is 7 months old and the other is just about 1 year old, yet people were able to leave new comments:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Entomology/comments/1oh0gxe/fly_eggs_in_pomegranate/19rrmjb3rypsy/

https://www.reddit.com/r/askswitzerland/comments/1s9i57b/should_i_leave_my_job_or_go_into_rav/19rp3ks4nobc1/

When viewing either post with Old Reddit, there is the usual banner at the top that says "This is an archived post. You won't be able to vote or comment." The "Lock" button is also not present, as one would expect. The form to add a new comment is also missing -- again, as one would expect.

I don't use New Reddit a lot so I can't remember if there should be a similar banner. The "Lock" button is present, so I tried to click on it to prevent further comments, but clicking on it says "Lock failed". The form to add a new comment is also visible and I was able to use it to post a test comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entomology/comments/1oh0gxe/fly_eggs_in_pomegranate/19rseibzyqrz9/

I also tested this in the iOS app and was able to post another test comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entomology/comments/1oh0gxe/fly_eggs_in_pomegranate/19rselivn4ppd/

Android [Android] Mobile app not able to play YouTube videos - version 2026.42.0.2642020

Post image
1 Upvotes

Description: When opening a post that is a youtube video in the official reddit app, after pressing the play button on the video youtube requires you to confirm that you aren't a bot (see screenshot). If I follow the link to log in it opens the youtube app on my phone (that I'm already signed in on). It does not open the video, and if I go back to the reddit post it asks to verify again, basically soft locking the video from being viewed. This seemingly happens for any youtube video, regardless of content. I am able to copy the link to the post, open it in a browser and then watch it on the web version of reddit no problem. Attached is a photo of a post from the app that has the message from youtube. I'm using a Samsung galaxy s24 ultra on the official reddit app.

Device model: Galaxy S24 Ultra

Steps to reproduce: Attempt to open a youtube video from the official reddit app on an android device

Expected and actual result: it should open the video, instead get stuck in a soft lock loop of verifying you aren't a bot without being able to view the video.

Screenshots(s) or screen recording(s): attached screen shot of reddit post with youtube video prompt asking for verification.

Dev/Admin Responded Desktop safari and more- Automod and other tools not working

Hello, it is evident that our tools are NOT working as should.

Our automod, is not working correctly. Felt this way for a while but other things like inline removal BUG took precedence. We have folks checked for subreddit karma , new to reddit AND MORE - I know there are more. These are NOT working.

Our subreddit r/retirement has jumped from about 85k to about 115k recently. A post a few weeks back hit 930k views (and we have short of 160k members!). We need automod to work.

We need inline removal of comments, the bug I have reached out on a few times, to work.

We need the check the box removals in queue, which come and go on working (had both results recently - which is why inline is a good back up) to work.
