3D Printed Ruined house for Mordheim/Wyrdcry/Warhammer

I printed and painted this ruined house from the Forgotten Towns set as I've gotten "Mordheim curious" lately.

The paint job followed steps from norwegian Mordheim terrain builder Boredheim, which follows a super simple recipe using only four paints:

- Liquitex Raw Umber Spray as a base coat on everything

- Mixing Liquitex Basics acrylic black and white to a medium grey to overbrush the stones with

- Dry brushing the wood with Liquitex Basics Raw Sienna

- Mixing Raw Sienna and white, starting with 1:1, and adding more white for successive coats to both dry brush the stone, wood and painting the plaster walls.

- The tiles on the roof are base coated black, then lightly overbrushed with grey and then lightly downward dry brushed with the white and Raw Sienna mix

- Glue on some birch seeds and tufts and it's done!

I've added some zombies I'm painting up for a Mordheim undead warband for scale.

Scratchbuilt Hand-sculpted medieval bakery with a full interior, brick oven and removable roof

Here's another build from Dexter, the maker behind the Cat & Fiddle tavern: a hand-sculpted medieval bakery, made for 28mm miniatures. I'm sharing it for him.

It has an outdoor brick oven with loaves cooling beside it, a layered roof, two stone chimneys and a hanging sign. The roof lifts off to show a fully detailed interior with a stone floor, a workbench with a wooden spoon and a bowl of flour, and shelves of pots. Dexter built it in about two weeks and filmed the full process on YouTube, as part 2 of his Crafting a Mediaeval Village series: Crafting a Mediaeval Village Part 2 The Bakery

The last photos show it in a village scene with miniatures.

Happy to answer questions about the build, and I'll pass them on to Dexter.

Scratchbuilt Sci-fi Trees from 3D supports

Had all these 3D supports that I was going to toss but started to save them for making tree terrain. Also had a bunch of cubes and decided to make some digital/sci-fi trees with them.
If you have thoughts or questions about them, ask away. Very easy to make

Here’s a little reel I made showing more of the process:

Hi everyone - I printed and painted this piece for our gaming group's collection (for Mordheim, specifically). It's the "Medieval Clocktower" from MiniatureLand available on myminifactory. The only parts not from that file are the clock hands, I just crafted them from the ends of zip ties. Hope you enjoy the photos. Thanks for taking a look! Any feedback/criticisms always welcomed.

WIP – Handcrafted winter village diorama with a thatched cottage, windmill and Christmas carolers.

A few new photos of my winter diorama project, Sylvester.

The scene includes a snow-covered cottage with a thatched roof, a traditional well with a wooden crane, a windmill, handmade fences, and Christmas carolers carrying a festive star.

The landscape is built mainly from XPS foam, with handmade textures, miniature vegetation, snow effects, and individually painted details.

I've also added warm LED lighting inside the cottage.

Still working on the smaller details and final finishing touches.

Everything is part of my ongoing project at Three Black Cats Studio.

WIP Project update - some sort of secreted resin

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Yeah but secreted from what?

Bondall universal adhesive sealant (very strong pva sometimes used as a concrete binder additive. Hardens like stone when neat). Various egg carton pulp, newspaper, tissue for the bulk. Experimenting with different skins - wet pva tissue (the white) and another using somr leftover airdry clay mixed in (grey).

I found that adding the clay gave a longer working time and finer control on detail while the pulp gave the clay better adhesion to the armature base. Probably the most fun I've had on terrwin pieces. If you havent sculpted before i suggest you try it!

Will reprime and paint everything once done. Thought I could save time with painting the metal base structures and then jusy focus on the hive resin later but it interrupts my creative process too much.

3 months into the hobby. All my peices are used in my DND campaign. This is a WIP abandoned Druid cove. An Owlbear and its cub...owlet?.... cublet? Has made it their home. What do you think? Obviously as a WIP I have much to add. What do you think would be cool to see? I plan on adding some wet mud spots, leaves, and a few more columns w/ vines.

KICKSTARTER My folding, quick-print ruins terrain project is live!

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a few more pics of my project where my goal is to make terrain as affordable and approachable as possible, by making it possible to print a whole gaming table with a single 1kg reel of PLA and fold it away for easy storage afterwards.

The goal isn't to create perfect realism, but to create something that can be a definite step-up from flat MDF ruins that are all too common in the wargaming world. A ruin can be printed in 1 hour with 20g of filament making it one of the easiest terrain projects to get stuck into for someone starting out with 3d printing.

The project is called "Shardstone City: Shattered Streets" is now live, with lots of stretch goals funded, links are easy to find in my profile if you'd like to check it out!

Finished my set of ruined walls from Printable Scenery, printed by Nerd Stuff. Not much more to say, except that it's a super cool set with lots of variety and character. A great, versatile addition to any modern wargaming table.

Scratchbuilt Finale for my 5 year campaign and first terrain build!

This is a terrain build that I am doing for my upcoming finale to the story my friends and I have been crafting for 5 years. This version, this timeline of the Forgotten Realms has been around since I was in college and it’s been quite the joy to play and bring the adventure to life with this group.

The board is made out of XPS foam and a hot knife. Each one hand painted; the altars are 3D printed and purchased, the large tree was imagined and handcrafted. More to come!

Valhalla Wolf Rune Stone

I made this Assassin's Creed Valhalla inspired Wolf Rune Stone out of XPS foam and Sakret. What do you guys think?
Hey guys! I wanted to share my latest creation. It looks like a heavy, carved stone block, but it's actually made from high-density XPS foam, coated with Sakret for that rock-solid texture, and hand-painted with acrylics. It weighs only a few hundred grams, so it's super easy to hang on any game room wall. Hope you like the Viking vibe!

Questions for the Community How do you deal with mica flecks in wild-sourced ground cover?

I just took a hike on my wash-filled desert property looking for some good washed sand deposits to sift for ground cover on my model railroad. My first batch was great but I forgot where I got it, and these two loads have sufficient mica/something shiny that it sparkles obliquely in the sun. My layout won’t have that kind of sun, and since this is going onto ground goop and will be a base under other covers I’m thinking it may not matter. Anyone deal with this? Maybe a shot of flat clear once I’m done (if the diluted matte medium doesn’t kill it)?
