With Halloween falling on a weekend proper this year, there are already crazy parties happening, even a week before.
This pub crawl is for those of us who are introverted and prefer to chill instead. Costume is not required, I will be rushing over from scuba diving so I am most likely be dressed as the Reddit Drinking Guy.
We will officially start from Not2Sweet at 19:00, though I will try to arrive earlier.
33 Peel St, Central
Note: Their Happy Hour is 17:00 - 20:00 so feel free to arrive early to take advantage. They will have some Halloween specials as well.
At about 20:30 we go to 99 Bottles
Shop B, 59a Peel St, Central
This is a bottle shop with no food option. But there are some food in surrounding shops. They will also have some special Halloween specials.
And we finish at the Globe at 22:00
Garley Building, 45-53A Graham St, Central
While they have excellent food, by the time we arrive the kitchen will be closed.
If I don't manage to get a costume then I will be wearing Reddit t-shirts, with a Snoo stuff toy so we would be easy to spot.
Strongly suggest everyone to pay for your drink as soon as you order it. The bill often get confusing when we have a large crowd.
Please send me your whatsapp number so I can put you into the super secret elite whatsapp group.
Finally, if you had a good time please leave a good review for our venues. Good venues are closing left and right in HK and they need all the help they can get.
meetup link Please RSVP so we have an idea how many people to expect.

I wanted a piece of Hong Kong, and decided to get this tattooed. Cha chaan tengs were my favorite part about the city - the milk tea, the French toast, and the whole experience

核實來電者身分:即使來電者能說出你的個人資料,如對來電者身分存疑,在提供進一步個人資料或付款前應「停一停、諗一諗」。市民應透過商戶官方網站、官方客戶服務熱線或親身到門市核實來電者身分及來電內容的真偽,並留意相關商戶有否發出詐騙警示;
拒絕可疑轉帳要求:商戶在處理賠償或退款時,一般不會要求客戶預先支付任何「保證金」或「手續費」,或轉帳以驗證銀行帳號;市民切勿隨便向他人披露網上銀行帳號及密碼等敏感資料;

What’s the appeal in apps like Taobao / PDD in HK? I recently downloaded both of them because of the hype obviously that seems to be permanent and everything on both apps just seem like it’s marketing towards hoarders. Curious to hear what everyone uses apps like Taobao/PDD for

Heyo, r/HongKong, I'm trying to find fellow Brakence fans to:
I've tried staking the ground in the artist's subreddit recently in a where are you from post, and have gotten 1 local friend, but I'm looking to see if I can get more HK-based friends by asking here directly for better visibility. Plus I haven't really tried travelling without family that far ever, so I guessed I'm a bit scared on that front. :P

Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway is the most profitable transit system in the world. While subways tend to lose money everywhere else, the MTR funds its system through a real estate engine known as “land-value capture.” By directly integrating malls, offices and apartments into stations, the railway has created a self-funding loop that pays billions of dollars back to the government.
Now, the MTR is taking on a massive challenge: funding transport for the Northern Metropolis, a new tech hub aimed at better connecting Hong Kong with Mainland China. But as local real estate cools, construction costs soar and residents shift retail spending across the border to Shenzhen, the MTR is taking on record debt to fund the expansion. Will this ambitious project break the very rule that made Hong Kong’s transit a global marvel?

26F, booked a timeleft dinner for women yesterday in Hong Kong, my first ever Timeleft dinner. Didn't expect to meet genuine cult members trying to recruit me. They utilized the loophole and neither of them booked through the platform (one of the original participants no show and cult member A filled in the place, she then said her "friend"(Cult member B) is nearby and asked her to join in the middle). For your information, at first 7 signed up but excluding the 2 cult members only 3 of us were there. And I personally love watching cult and true crime documentaries which totally saved me from this mess.
A was really good at getting close to people. She was friendly and seemed empathetic. She introduced herself as an occupational therapist and now studying a spiritual coach course. I asked whether it was something related to mental health or counselling, she said no it wasn't anything science-based (at the time I still thought she was just into some fengshui stuff). What started to seem like a red flag to me was when she mentioned she is living with around 10 people in a gigantic house (FYI in Hong Kong it's so rare to live with that many people given its limited space), and they have 13 cats, 4 dogs and a few birds. The 10 ish people are mostly women and they are all single. At first I only thought maybe it was like a dorm, but she said they "chose each other". They would discuss with each other in depth for literally everything, which to me seem very philosophical, like they would ask 6 why's and what each other is going through, even just after assembling a chair...(To me it was really crazy like how do you have so many thoughts for such random things in daily life?).
One more thing, both A and B do not have a legit name, they made up their name. I told A her name is very special, she said she combined two words in bible which means "Unconditional love". Now that I think about it, both using non typical English names probably is a sign. (Edit: I searched all 3 of their weird names on AI turnout their names are all very New Age style and bring religious meanings)
When B joined us, it seemed more and more apparent that it is a cult. She said that A will go through "dealth" in a few days, the table was in silence for a few seconds. We asked her what she meant for dealth, she said she has no idea but she looked enthusiastic. One girl asked B wouldn't they want to get married and have kids, B said she has "passed that phase" and she wouldn't want to meet a guy who doesn't believe in what they believe. And B said they would always challenge the social norms and walk a path less people choose. And A said "if they want to meet someone they could". I was like, if you all are just roommates why would you sound approval to them meeting a partner?
After the dinner the 2 cult members asked me for a drink, which at the time I was regretting I shouldn't tell them I wfh tomorrow. After we sat down almost immediately they started selling me their spiritual course which costs 100k HKD and said it is a journey we can go through together. They said they want me in. I asked why me? They said 1) I seem open-minded to different things 2) I have a flexible job (which I assume they think I can engage in their cult activity) 3) I look like I crave human connection (See? This is typical for a cult, they target lonely people who crave connection). But then I said I don't have that much money. A kept using the Foot in the Door tactic, saying even if I just decided to start with 1k HKD it would be fine. After A went to toilet, I asked B what does she normally do for a weekend, she said she barely steps out of their communal house. I asked, is it because the house was big enough for activities? She said no, there are already too many things going on in it, like they would be in deep discussion for just assembling a chair. At that time it gave me chills.

I know Tsui Wah and International Curry quality has declined over the years, but the curry flavor was still solid when I was last here in 2019. I'm now back in 2026 to find that both have moved/closed/rapidly changed.
Where can I find tasty, classic HK-style curry in 2026? Tell me all of your favorites!

I work in Wan Chai. I'm looking for a gym that I can go to lunchtime. Problem that most gyms have is that they don't have enough showers. Therefore, you have to spend half your lunch hour waiting in line for a shower.
Does anyone know of a gym round here that does not have that problem? I would really appreciate that!

Hi! I just moved to Hong Kong and am loving it.
One thing I miss about my last city, is that I had a great choice of many co-workings. I especially miss that my previous co-working had a "loud" floor. On this floor the idea is that you can take calls and have long conversations without moving to a call booth or a meeting room. (This is annoying for some people, but they are then welcome to move to the quieter floors.)
For me this "loud" setup works great as I spend practically the whole day transcribing my voice using a microphone as this is just much faster than typing. I have checked around and so far I did not find a co-working where this kind of thing would be allowed. Can anyone with experience here help or suggest a location? I am open to moving to any part of HK to be near such a workspace!

There are quite a lot of eccentrics in HK which I think is great as long as no one is being harmed. One of the most common is people obsessed with hygiene. Not saying there's anything wrong with it but some people make me a chuckle to myself.
One I noticed growing in popularity in my office is colleagues bringing their own sponges to work to wash their dishes after lunch, instead of using the one provided.
We also have someone who wears latex gloves almost all day long.
Did you notice any quirky hygiene habits?
