Moi kaikille,
I'm looking for perspectives on how applying for a second masters degree in Finland for a careers change.
I got my MSc in the UK 10 years ago and there it's quite common to go back to uni at a later stage and study something even potentially unrelated to previous studies, if one can demonstrated that they have enough motivation and/or basic knowledge.
I lived in Helsinki for 3 years, I have a MSc in Industrial Engineering and I've been working in Data Science and AI for 12 years but I'd like to get some more foundational knowledge in more "Physical Engineering"-related topics: interesting programmes are for example Embedded Systems, Electronics, Telecommunications, or (stretch) Biomedical Engineering. Of course my study background is in Engineering but it's from quite some time ago, and also foundations are probably not extensive as a BSc in EE.
Based only on what I see on Finnish university pages it seems that they are quite strict about programme requirements, and some even actively discouraging applicants who already have a Master's degree. However at least 10% of my Finnish colleagues seem to be enrolled in their 3rd or 4th degrees at any time, sometimes with very little commitment.
How strongly are the programme requirements usually enforced, and does it even make sense for me to try to bother with the admission process?
Thanks in advance 🙏!
