Political Question Americans: Trump says Norway is a shithouse country. How many of you would give your left nut/left ovary to live there instead of the USA?
I personally dream of norway. Forests, oceans, mountains. I could handle the higher taxes for the lifestyle given there, happily. The people are known to be quite attractive to both sexes too so there is that as well.
and before the "then move there!" maggats post, we would love to. Believe me.

General Question I’ve been getting a minimum of 5 RNC campaign texts a day and reply “stop” to each and every one. At what point do I get to call this harassment?
I never gave them my number. I keep replying stop. But they’re like the freakin’ hydra, stop one and 3 more take its place. I just want them to stop.

General Question What made you lose your faith?
I was a hard core Christian for decades. Worked at a church. I felt my faith slipping and did everything I could think of to reverse it; went to Bible studies, lead bible studies, got baptized, got up at 4am every morning to study the Bible, prayed and prayed and prayed.
I was listening to a podcast one day where someone asked about losing their faith. The host said that God would restore his faith and show him that faith is a gift and not something he can manufacture. So that’s where I am now. I’m agnostic but open if God wants to restore my faith. I just don’t really believe that’s a thing anymore.
If you were a strong believer before what made you lose your faith?
EDIT: There are many hundreds of replies. I can’t go through them all at once. I’ll read as many as I can. If you wanted to engage with me directly and I didn’t respond please dm me.

Political Question What ever happened to the Board of Peace, and more specifically the money that was raised?
There was $10B pledged by the US. These were taxpayer funds. Other founding countries pledged $1B each, meaning about $18B was pledged overall.
We're told that only about $280M was ever handed over.
According to this article, the World Bank account established holds exactly zero dollars.
We know that millions that were actually raised were routed into a private J.P. Morgan Chase bank account controlled by the President, who is also the chairman of the Board of Peace.
There are no transparency requirements because the money sits in a private corporate account.
There is no legal obligation to report its financial position to outside groups.
The administration has filed budget requests for Fiscal 2027 that include roughly $1.25B from existing disaster relief assistance.

Political Question What is with this recent trend of people trying to rehabilitate George W Bush's image on Reddit?
Pretty much every post I've seen that features him is loaded with comments like:
- "He was a bad president, but the kind of guy you could sit down and have a beer with"
- "I don't think he was a bad person, just misled by the people around him"
- "He did the best he could considering the cards he was dealt"
Or some other variation of that plus a nostalgic longing for the days of his administration. This is the same guy who opened up torture camps (literally), bombed/invaded a sovereign nation under false pretenses, created a mass surveillance program on the citizens of the US, and plunged the globe into a deep recession. Amongst other things
I never thought I'd see the day where people defended Dubya on this website. Please do not whitewash and rehabilitate the war criminal

General Question Does anyone else find the “first amendment auditors” on YouTube annoying, they’re always antagonizing random people when many of the times they’re not even rude and simply ask them why or to not record them but instead they look to cause trouble for views and not just “record” like they claim?
Why aren’t they charged for disturbing the peace when they’re doing exactly that? And no I’m not against people recording in public, especially when you don’t feel safe. These people make it their whole personality and purposely antagonize others for their views and even call them names and then end it with their annoying smug “I’m just expressing my first amendment rights“ phrase. A lot of them hide their identity and when you give them the same energy they give others like when they follow and hyper focus on those they harass, suddenly they value THEIR privacy and personal space.

Political Question Examples at bottom of post. Does anyone else think Nicki Minaj aka Onika Tanya Maraj, whose brother is a pedo and so is her husband, and other MAGA pedos/ enablers are now openly Republican because they are trying to normalize pedos and what Epstein did to even Trump claiming it’s all fake?
They claim “parental rights” are for the safety of children yet look at what happens when the religious “think” their kids are gay like 8 year old Gabriel Fernandez parents did, they gleefully TORTURED him for MONTHS and murdered him and the same Republicans/ Religious who not only push for this but go out of their way to harass these same kids in schools that already have it hard at home! But at least they give their fake “thoughts and prayers” after right? So evil!
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/prosecutor-mom-killed-son-4-because-she-thought-he-was-gay/
Here are some examples of the disgusting things Republicans/ Religious continue to support well knowing all this, while claiming to be holier than thou while discriminating against and foaming at the mouth over LGBT people existing to “protect women and children” while actually hurting them and all proud with a smile acting like they’re some kind of “patriots”.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/investigation-reveals-doj-withheld-epstein-files-mentioning-trump
https://www.theguardian.com/books/article/2024/jul/24/trump-nephew-book-disabled-son-die
Not a coincidence MAGA/ Republicans/ religious are hyper focused on children and their genitals.
https://abcnews.com/amp/US/man-barred-school-allegedly-accosting-9-year-claiming/story?id=100067135
And conveniently never mention it’s CHILDREN they are discriminating against and trying to dehumanize or not talk about all these anti trans legislation that affects mainly CHILDREN in schools! They want to normalize ADULTS like them groom and bully others children in our public education system and then blame it on their religion like they always do and then somehow when held accountable and come out of prison they “find god” the same god they believed in when they abused children. These ADULTS are real ballsy when targeting children!
But are no where to be found while they are being abused until after giving their fake “thoughts and prayers” acting like they couldn’t have helped and spoken up when seeing or hearing about the abuse. Instead they harass and target children!
https://www.wmur.com/article/anti-trans-althete-bow-parents-ask-to-expedite-lawsuit/74252744
That’s why their smugness and why they feel comfortable doing all this. Their ADULT church buddies will forgive them for something that didn’t happen to them but to a CHILD, even their own and go out of the way to harass the victim to forgive them and just “pray” it away while still allowing more CHILDREN to be abused and then acting all surprised or going out of their way to silence the victims!
Instead of involving the police, many of these churches cover up the abuse towards children and are even trying to legally fight to keep pedo confessing to abusing children private! So disgusting! These religious organizations don’t pay taxes yet heavily involved in our government and given a lot of freedom to abuse others over THEIR sky daddy they STILL can’t prove real yet we have to respect their delusions. Their cult causes more harm then good so why are we still allowing even our government officials aka our EMPLOYEES force this pedo criminal agenda on us!! They do not care about kids!
Look up all the legislation they are passing that negatively affects CHILDREN specifically, they even demonize giving kids free school lunches while they put their hundred bills in their church hat they pass around that ends up in these pedo religious leaders pockets. Look into the many people who needed help and have spoken up that were refused help at these religious “shelters” because they wouldn’t join their cult and most are empty yet still receiving hand outs including from our government aka our money that should be going to actual social services that help ALL! Same with adoption centers, most are religious and only allow religious people to adopt them yet claim no one but religious people adopt kids. Why do we as a society keep allowing this smugness and normalization of Republican/Religious ADULTS harassing and abusing CHILDREN and not only that, letting them cover up CHILD abuse while they claim to “care about children”.

General Question What State Is It Least Bad to Be Poor In?
I see New Mexico as one of the states with the highest poverty rates, but then I see pictures of New Mexico and suspect it might feel worth it for the scenery. Being poor in Jackson, Mississippi must be much worse than being poor in Albuquerque, for example. (And at least it’s warm in Mississippi. West Virginia is cold and poor.)

Wondering if people are openly drinking a beer at work lunches, and if anybody has a corporate environment that openly supports moderate cannabis consumption (in rec legal jurisdictions)?
