I like growing crystals at home! I first started growing them in high school chemistry class, and itâs become this addictive hobby of mine.
The crystal above is made of a compound called copper sulfate.
I make the crystals by dissolving copper sulfate powder in water, letting the solution evaporate and waiting for small crystals to form. Then I hang a small crystal in a jar of solution and place it on my cupboard. The crystals themselves form quite fast, although it takes months to get this big. Theoretically, thereâs no upper limit to how big you can grow them, given enough time and solution.
The crystal isnât cut or faceted, it just naturally forms this shape. The blue in the photo isnât edited either (although the sunlight does make it seem like it glows a bit).
If you guys are interested, I wrote a guide about my whole procedure: https://crystalverse.com/best-way-to-grow-copper-sulfate-crystals/
Hopefully you guys liked it. Chemistry is super cool!
