Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002) is a real time strategy game set in the fantasy universe of Azeroth. The game combines classic RTS mechanics with RPG elements as you play through the Human, Orc, Night Elf, and Undead campaigns.
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (2003) is the expansion pack for WC3 and builds upon its story and features expanding the world with new heroes, units and campaigns.
Warcraft III: Reforged (2020) acts as a graphical remaster accompanied with major infrastructural upgrades and many new features. And later gave us the 2.0 update with QoL features such as the new Hotkeys and Classic(HD) assets.
Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom (2026) is the first ever DLC for the game adding a new Forsaken campaign and alongside the 3.0 update a new hero and other QoL features.
2a. Gameplay and Game Modes
Warcraft III presents itself as an accessible yet highly dynamic game. Besides the melee mode, there exists many different ways of playing the game - solo or in multiplayer with up to 23 other players. It is a fusion of lore-heavy campaigns, competitive match-based gameplay, a diverse custom game selection, a thriving esports scene, endless modding and artistic possibilities, and more.

Can I play Forsaken Kingdom DLC with a Classic Installation of WC3:RF? No it requires a full Reforged version of the game.
Does the Definitive Edition graphics work with the older Classic/Reforged RoC & tFT Campaigns? No the Forsaken(DE) does not currently work for any other campaign aside from the Forsaken Kingdom.
3e. State of the Game FAQ
WTii's videos Warcraft 3 Reforged ONE YEAR Later..., TWO YEARS Later…, THREE YEARS Later…, FOUR YEARS Later…, FIVE YEARS Later… and most recently SIX YEARS Later goes over some of these points and makes a number of observations and highlights.
However the Warcraft 30th Anniversary with the Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest alongside the 2.0 Update did change some things for the better. And a hopefully a future to look forward to!

I'm interested in playing through the campaigns of Warcraft 3 (RoC and tFT), but I have no intention of ever playing WoW. I read that WoW is a continuation of the story of Warcraft 3, so I wonder:
Does the story of Warcraft 3 stand on its own, or is there some big cliffhanger at the end, and it's hard to appreciate the story without continuing with WoW? In other words, is Warcraft 3's story worth it and enjoyable in isolation?

Sorry if this has been answered already, I've been searching and keep finding completely unrelated posts. I want to replay the campaign but I'd rather wait till the new models are playable in reforged, do we have an eta on this?

Hey guys,
I'm playing BM because I'm not really a fan of FS, but I'm struggling a lot against Human.
I've tried fast teching and putting pressure on my opponent at T2, but nothing seems to work.
Any tips on how to approach this matchup? What strategy or unit composition would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I still keep thinking about WC3, played it at different stages in my life and still never found any better. Maybe Starcraft 2 WoL was close to it.
What are your recommendations?

I've finished the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and I enjoyed it. It's true that, like many people, I would've preferred it to have more RTS elements, more in line with a classic Warcraft campaign, but it kept me hooked and I had a good time all the way to the end.
That said, I have mixed feelings about it, and it left me with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Partly because, as I mentioned, it lacks more traditional RTS gameplay, but also because I can't shake the feeling that the expansion/campaign is incomplete. Shouldn't there have been more campaigns? I mean, both the base game, RoC, and the TFT expansion have 5 and 4 campaigns respectively, whereas FK only has 2 (and one of them is a prologue, like RoC's Exodus of the Horde, while the main one feels more like a "bonus" campaign due to its similarities to the Rexxar campaign).
And what about this plane?

Am I the only one who thought we were going to get 4 campaigns when we saw those four banners? From left to right:
In the end, we got what we already know: 2 campaigns centered around Garek, one serving as an Alliance prologue and the main campaign structured in acts featuring the Forsaken.
And this is where I'd like to throw an idea out there... Could Blizzard update Forsaken Kingdom and add 2-3 more campaigns? We already have a precedent with TFT, which initially introduced its 3 main campaigns (Sentinels, Blood Elves, and Scourge), and was later updated with the Rexxar campaign acts. Some possible ideas could be:
The last two campaigns could perhaps be merged into one, but the important thing is that adding these campaigns could help redeem FK a little by giving it a more RTS-focused style rather than leaning so heavily into RPG elements. The current campaign structure might need a bit of reworking, placing these new campaigns somewhere in the middle while keeping the Forsaken campaign as the final one, serving as the conclusion to Garek's story arc.
It's unlikely that Blizzard will do any of this, for several reasons:
But hey, dreaming is free! What do you guys think?

To Blizzard Entertainment:
You have have done an amazing job at remaking some unit models. These models really stand out from the rest and look very faithful to classic.
Nether drake | Ogre Magi | Shadow Hunter | Chimera ... and many more that are not shown in this post due to file-size limits such as Demon Hunter - Far Seer - Lich
Please make every other model as faithful as these!.
For community members: If you know any other DE model that is loyal in design to classic, feel free to type its name in comments below.

What are your favourite custom Maps to play with friends? We have tried element td, pumpkin td and legion td. I know there must be a lot of other fun ones.

RTS Storyteller did an excellent video on the Veterancy mechanic in RTS games that is very much worth the full watch:
Adding the Veterancy mechanic to all non-Hero units in WC3:R would be a low hanging fruit way of making WC3:R so much more interesting and dynamic.
It would allow entire storylines of specific units to happen in matches from start to finish and showcase how skilled players are with certain units or unit compositions in matches.
So many non-Hero units in WC3:R might end up scaling better or being more useful if they could level up.
It would also add so much new value to all the WC3:R campaigns since each time you play them it would be a completely different experience.
This change would do wonders for WC3:R in the long term.

hey everybody, does anybody know that one deathmatch custom game where you play as one character and you just kill other characters in a fast-paced small and dark map with powerups scatter on the map. one of the characters I remember was a wolf named fenrir with the cold ability there was also another wolf, a black wolf whose ability is to one shot you or something. and when you die, you just respawn randomly on the map, you win by how much you killed. I really I can explain it better.

Hello Community,
I’m highly enjoying the game, with almost all good things to say about it. However, as feedback intended for Blizzard Developers and the Community intended to spur discussion, I highly recommend that the Grim Conviction “Ultimate Spell” for Garek Bandarion during the Single Player Campaign be 100%, completely reworked.
Ultimate Spells are supposed to be flashy, fun, and effective. That's why there's a whole one or two minute cooldown, after all. Instead, this “Ultimate Spell” basically takes away a third of your hitpoints and replaces it with 33% lifesteal. That’s it. I actually don't use the spell since it is a waste of mana. Even the animation isn’t new or unique, it’s a lazily borrowed and reskinned Bloodlust. So the spell almost does totally nothing and the visual effect isn't new (.... or even good).
Additionally, I'm looking at the Talents submenu and none of them demonstrably affect Grim Conviction much, if at all. Of the three Talents that supposedly buff Grim Conviction, the "best" merely adds a few extra seconds to the spell. Compare that to Captain Landen's Weighted Net and Mass Arrest, which completely changed the functionality of his Apprehension spell. Mass Arrest even gives the User Interface a brand new targeting icon where you throw the net, that wasn't there before. It's that special attention and love of detail briefly shown to Captain Landen on a common ability, that I expect to see over on Garek's side too. That is the level of attention to detail and professionalism that is the Expected Behavior for a AAA game, not what we got with Grim Conviction.
An Ultimate Spell is supposed to be useful and fun, this is neither. In fact, this one is a HARD NEGATIVE on the experience because it takes away from another concept that could be there instead. In fact, this one is so bad I’m not really sure why this made it into the game, it doesn’t pass standard industry QA controls, let alone the vaunted “Blizzard polish”. It’s like a developer typed up placeholder, throwaway spell just to have something iterative for the day’s build. It made its way into the developer and Change List, but then they clearly forgot to replace this placeholder with something real.
I'm really hoping that Blizzard prioritize reworking this one ability from scratch ASAP. It really stands out from an otherwise pretty solid product as a glaring defect that still needs to be fixed after they admittedly rushed the game out for launch in order to make Blizzcon. Blizzard, please don't forget to clean up this mistake! Give us something fun and cool right here.

By no means did I have a perfect run, but Ginsi is still so far ahead it's crazy.
Pretty fun game-mode though, I wish there were more maps, though.

I've disabled automatic updates and today I couldn't launch the game without clicking the update button. Is this impossible?

Enjoyed going over this very high mmr orc mirror - massing taurens is so often the end game of the match up and the resulting micro is always brutal!

Hello folks
From previous post i understood that clan in warcraft are pretty much dead , however we could still create a clan for Reddit or discord channel and organised some event to play ladder in team or other mod ?
Does some of you would be interested ?

The short answer is I didn't like it.
I didn't like that they added locations that don't exist in wow such as Dawn's Watch in western tirisfall.
I think the whole story steals credit for the founding of Undercity and is given to Garek and the Argent Dawn.
I didn't like that Undercity was saved by the Argent Dawn. The whole campaign makes Sylvanas look less cool than what she was established in the Frozen Throne. She also acts way too human and cheerfully.
Forsaken paladins feel a bit shoehorned but I don't mind it that much.
Act 1 was very good, act 2 was ok but I didn't like that we almost killed Morgraine and Whitemane. Felt more like fanservice than anything.
Act 3, I hated it. Bandarion and friends defeating Kel thuzad was lame. The last fight should have been Ilastar followed by the sacrifice.

I guess clarification here whether this is a bug, or another multiplayer only thing with incorrect tooltip.
Using it on enemy undead towers 2nd mission of human elves campaign.

Hello, I have to point out this model as a GRAND ILLUSION. Its similar to classic. People say its better than Reforged. But DE is not to be compared to Reforged, its to be compared to classic.
I think something has to be done about this model, the only thing I can offer here as some solution to developers is a community model. Pictures tell thousand words. Also my intention is not to glorify community models here, I just want developers to take care of this DE model
Even WTii pointed this out in his video

Guys, this is very worrying, I'm concerned about the future of our beloved game.I just checked Liquipedia to see the latest matches, and it’s nothing but Battle.net tournaments. They provide a summary of the main ones, listing events like Kaho or Eer0, ikely due to sponsorship reasons, but honestly, there’s no real difference between, say, Eer0 "Tech Fiend" playstyle and the skill level of the players I encounter on Battle.net.
The last "real" championship to take place was the Dolphin Warcraft Super League Season 2, which Life won and earning him the right to play a match against Happy (and lose, of course). But how can you call it a UFC light heavyweight title fight if Jon Jones isn't competing? How can we look forward to a World Cup if Brazil isn't in it? What we’re seeing in our scene is truly concerning. I recommend that you just as I do drop by "yesitshappy" on Twitch to catch some Warcraft; there simply aren't players like the ones from back in the day anymore.
