Indiana Jones should’ve been recast after Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones originated from Spielberg’s desire to make a James Bond movie then George Lucas pitched him the idea for Indiana Jones.

So they should’ve made it more like the James Bond series and do a recast after an actors tenure has run out of steam.

Indiana Jones is a power fantasy and Harrison Ford was already too old for Indy in 2008, let alone 2023.

So recasting should’ve been done the same way they do for James Bond.

I think we should've played as Abby first in the Last of Us Part 2

I love the Last of Us but the biggest problem I have with the sequel is them trying to get us to empathize with the people who tortured Joel.

I've seen people say that we should've started out as Abby after having killed Joel, played as her, watched her friends die and then it's revealed that she killed Joel and we switch to Ellie.

I feel like that would've made more sense and helped people not be as biased and also made for a good twist.

Duck is better then chicken

• Upvotes

Duck is just better tasting and easier to cook than chicken. juicier, crispier skin etc. a full duck costs about the same as a chicken soo it’s an easy substitute. Plus it’s naturally more fatty

National Anthems at Sporting Events Should not be televised

These are symbolic presentations for the people in the building. They have never been associated with the start of individual television programs. Broadcasting them is gratuitous and a waste of broadcast time.

Edit- Yes I am talking about pro US sports leagues, not international competition

Acting Busy Is Easy Until Life Actually Gets Busy

• Upvotes

There’s a difference between actually being busy and just pretending to be busy. The funny thing is, when you pretend to be busy, you think you’re fooling the other person, but in reality, you’re fooling yourself, because one day, life will actually get overwhelming. You’ll have so much going on that you genuinely won’t be able to manage everything, and your mind will start telling you that you’re too busy for this, too busy for that, and too busy for everyone and that’s when you’ll realize how easily you’ve turned being busy into an excuse the irony is that when you actually have a thousand things to deal with, you’ll understand that people make time for what matters to them sometimes, I’m busy isn’t about having too much to do; it’s about what you choose not to make time for.

So, to those who pretend to be busy without even knowing what real busyness feels like, keep acting, just don’t confuse pretending to carry a burden with actually carrying one

In The Sopranos, Paulie Walnuts shouldn’t have stayed loyal to Tony Soprano

Tony didn’t deserve Paulie’s loyalty lmao. Like a whole decade treated him like shit, didnt side with him, cut corners with him, made him do his hits, and didnt even visit him in the can lmao. After all the humiliation and disrespect Tony still has the balls to take him on the boat and ask him if he ratted about the Ginny Sack joke. Paulie had way too much tolerance for Tony, any other guy in the crew wouldve flipped.

Amanda Seyfried Does a Horrible Elizabeth Holmes Impression

Firstly, no hate to Amanda Seyfried. I love her as an actress and respect her values as a person based off what I’ve heard and seen in the media. Maybe that’s why I find it so unconvincing when she is portraying Elizabeth Holmes. When the deep voice is incorporated, I think it gets even worst lol. I couldn’t finish The Dropout because of how cringy the acting was. I went to see You Can See Everything, which I absolutely loved, and some scenes were a little more convincing, but still felt off at some points. Does anyone else feel this way?

We should bring smart-casual attire back.

Specific unpopular opinion, but we should bring back smart casual wear similar to what people used to wear in the 50’s and before. Obviously modernised I’m not talking Victorian style attire. IMO when you wear smart clothes or a suit for instance there’s an instant confidence and importance you get that you don’t have with any other clothing, and when you look at old timey footage of people going about their day theirs such an elegance to it and I’m sure they felt it in themselves and at the sight of other people wearing smart clothes.

Throwing this out there but the government should run a program where for atleast a year or half a year they make it mandatory for all clothing boutiques to sell smart casual clothing and only that clothing, just to see how the public reacts to it. Maybe small at first in like a town or something, just to see how people react.

Also there would be good incentive for this aswell, you think about how much waste the clothing industry makes. Atleast for a while make it mandatory they can only sell high quality clothes.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a bad sequel, but a good video game

Woah mama, Last of Us 2, no one ever talks about that! I get it, this topic is old and has probably been tired out. But I wanna share my opinion because I don’t think many people are on the middle ground position I’m arguing for. SPOILERS below.

Most people think this game is either one of the greatest masterpieces conceived by man or the worst abomination in existence and may as well have crawled out of Hell itself.

But what if I told you that this game is neither good nor bad when you weigh the evidence?

The game’s voice acting, gameplay, and graphics are great, and so much so that this is relatively non-controversial. Even the story could be considered good for a video game if you pretend like this game is an original story and not a sequel. Video game stories are not supposed to be that great in my opinion. Many “movie games” wouldn’t really pass very well as actual movies or tv series.

The problem with this game is that it’s a horrible sequel, it takes the original game’s characters and disrespects them so much that it reeks of the nihilism this game doesn’t want to admit. You don’t just take a beloved character who was the main one in the original story and make a sequel where he’s tortured and killed 2 hours in. Ultimately this game’s story and dialogue seem to be a mouthpiece for the writer’s philosophical or retrospective views on the original game.

The apologetics for this game can get really annoying and dishonest as well. Some of it feels so rationally forced because people want to like it. TLOU2 fails the sequel test and the cinema test. But it does not fail the video game test or the independent (video game) story test. The game is aight.

Dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals can sense bad people.

Especially dogs and cats. they've had to rely on us for food. but how would they know they wouldn't become the food, or encounter a psychopath who kills just cause?

Pheromones. dogs and cats can smell the pheromones for empathy and reason in others. and they avoid people who don't give those pheromones off.

i CANNOT stress how many times my dog must have saved me from bad men and people in general by barking at them and telling me whos right to be around.

Taskmaster should just....end.

With the UK version on Series 22, and the international series still going, the law of diminishing returns has been in effect for many years now. The worst comedy is unfunny comedy, and if there is still a space for the market for 'nice' comedy, what is stopping Alex Horne doing another format. Maybe he'll be funny again. Rigidly sticking to Taskmaster when you know its gone sour prevents you doing another show that could still include new and diverse talent, although SNL UK has that remit now as well. Please stop. Please.

Mike Flanagan is *the worst*.

• Upvotes

Now, I am sure he is a genuinely nice fella. But every single one of his movies and shows are pretentious and reeks of entitlement (similar to Ari Aster's work). Kate Seigel (again I am sure she is a lovely person) is not the gods' gift to the world. The monologs are nothing but "I'm 14 and this is deep." posts. Not everything has to be some kind of tramatic life-affirming catharsis. And he honestly would not be anything without his go to D.O.P. Michael Fimognari.

But the worst thing is the absolutely insufferable cult following. Come at me Flanastans.

Now.......*sigh*.....all that being said I do have to ashamedly admit.....I will watch his movies/shows because godsdamn...they are pretty good.

Edit: example of my "conflicting" view. Picture an artist you cannot stand. Now picture a song put out by that artist that makes you think "Damn...that's catchy." Hope that helps.

Comedians are not funny

• Upvotes

There aren’t any funny tv shows, sitcoms, or stand up comedians who genuinely make me laugh. At least that’s my experience towards comedians in the United Kingdom.

I’m talking about the last 10-15 years at least. When I hear comedians talking to radio hosts, or something like the ‘Last One Laughing’ tv series which seems to be a global hit, or in The Traitors there are comedians, but they really are not funny. Perhaps mildly entertaining at best, but if I want to be entertained, there’s plenty of better ways to spend my time while being productive at the same time.

It seems at least from my perspective, comedians are really are trying to be funny and perhaps that might be the issue because it’s very forced. Or on the other hand, someone makes a social faux pas which some people seem to find funny.
