[Request] Electric cargo truck that never needs to be charged thanks to regenerative breaking
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I guess the figures from the video are inflated, but does the principle still hold ? With current technology, do they really never need to charge the truck ?
The idea is that this Etruck goes uphill using it's battery, get loaded with a cargo doubling total weight of the truck then goes downhill and recharge the battery fully using regenerative breaking.

[Self] Is this joke accurate?
So I was wondering if you would resize a snail to this big (putting aside why physics would not allow that) what would it's speed be. For my scenario I wanted to assume a length to speed ratio. I chose a fairly average snail that's basically a 4 by 4 cm square for ease of calculation. I've read that max speed of snails on competitions is usually around 2 mm/s (average speed is 1 mm/s, but I want a top athlete snail to be upscaled to give it some advantage).
In the picture the tallest building, which seems to be the same height as the snail looks to me like a 5 storey high building, google says average 5 storey building are 15 m high. So the upscaled snail is 15 m long. If the 4 cm snail can go 2 mm in a second it means it can go 1/20 of it's length per second.
15 m divided by 20 is 75 cm/s which is 2,7 km/h (1.67 mph). That is actually a very casual walking speed. Even if the building is twice as tall, that would still be within walking speed. Joke approved. Cool.

[Request] how long ago did this boulder fall?
This hill has many massive boulders fallen from the cliffs above, but no one really knows or cares when exactly it happened. The rock is some type of braggo(?) and is rather crumbly in some spots.
This particular boulder has crushed a huge tree underneat that hasn't entirely rotten yet (see the last 2 photos) which tells me that it's fallen quite recently.
And the live tree growing up against it (photo 1 2 3) can also give some clues.
The reason why i ask is because people live in houses below this hill and they don't think it's a danger that rocks fall within their lifetime.
So how long ago do you think this boulder has fallen?

[Request] Would the cube really be millions of degrees?
Also would you be full? What would happen if you tried to eat it?
I suppose that first question could be disregarded if the grilled cheese cube is in fact millions of degrees lol
Feel free to answer it anyway tho!
Edit: Phrasing

[Request] What’s the longest my shadow can be? Where and when would I have to stand?
Waiting for the bus this morning got me wondering how long my shadow can be, unobstructed.
My first thought would be a sunrise on Mt. Everest but only at a certain hour my shadow would appear down the cliff side. Maybe the Salt-Flats? Vast distances of calm bodies of water?
I’ve been pondering this all day, can’t figure it out. Thoughts?

[other] Free beta + free months for top testers: an education app that explains math the way you understand
I’m a young founder, and I built Savant, an education app that starts wherever you are, even if that’s “I never understood fractions,” and adapts as you go. It’s built on 250+ researched learning techniques.
I’m looking for 1,000 beta testers, especially people learning math, to try it free and tell me where it falls short.
Beta perks:
- The testers who give the best feedback and improvement ideas get 1–3 months of Savant Standard free.
- Bring friends: get 1 free month of Pro for every 5 people you get to join the beta.

[Request] In the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, how many people would've been outside when the collapse occurred?
For context if you're unaware, the inciting incident of Dungeon Crawler Carl is that aliens come to Earth and destroy everything that has a roof - buildings, cars, planes, boats, etc. Convertibles, bikes, and anything that wasn't roofed was spared from the Collapse. If you were inside during the Collapse, you died. Everyone outside was then given the option to enter the "World Dungeon" and the plot continues from there.
What I'm trying to figure out is a good ballpark estimate be for those who were awake and outside when the Collapse occurred. It happened at approximately 2:23 AM Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 (the year is speculation, the rest is canon).

[Request] Treasure Planet Diameter and Rings, Ancient Alien Megastructures
So Far, in searching for the Treasure Planet's Diameter, i have only found several articles positing a Tech Core ≈900 ft in diameter.
The more in-depth articles also explain the treasure "surface" of the Tech Core is ≈20 ft deep, thus making the Tech Core ≈860 ft in diameter.
AI summaries only quote the 900 ft diameter of the Tech Core as if it were the true diameter of the overall structure.
I am wondering if anyone tackled estimating or calculating the actual diameter of the planetoid structure of the Treasure Planet/Ship/Station.
I am also interested in the two Ring Structures.

[Request] If Earth is the only planet in the visible universe with life on it, what percentage of matter in the visible universe is alive?
This was a mind-blowing question (to us) that came up in discussion while walking my daughter to school today. As an extra bonus, I expect this is probably going to be some unfathomable number to an adult, how do I make it relatable to a 7-year old's understanding of the world?

[Request] How many bananas would it take to raise the temperature of a standard room by one degree Celsius?
So I left a banana in my zipped lunchbox for a few hours and when I went to eat it, I noticed some condensation and my lunchbox was noticeably warmer on the inside.
I thought that was strange until I googled how much heat a banana releases. And now I wanna know, could we heat a room with just bananas?

I just watched this on YouTube. And it’s pretty insane, considering the amount of packs, sets and collections there are.
The customer comes asking for a card. The guy working at the stand does not have it but decides to open a pack where the card could be. He ends up pulling the exact same card!!
