This upcoming balance patch got me thainking...
We're gonna have 6 types of caliburs now:
1.) Leviathan Blade/Scissors: Highest normal damage, 3-hit charge attack
2.) CIV: Slightly less normal damage, 3-hit charge, higher damage against undead (Is that really useful tho?)
3.) Celestial Saber: Leviathan Blade but with stun
4.) Sweet Dreams: CIV but with stun (+ less knockback, I think?)
5.) Fang of Vog: Elemental calibur; insane 4-hit charge attack - comes with obvious self-burn drawback, but normal attacks are OK aswell. (+ Slower = higher range!)
6.) Amputator: Normal version of FoV; 4-hit charge attack which could be cool, NO self-burn, very high damage bonus against slimes.. Is this really needed? it's very hard to use these types of weapons against slimes, imo.
Now, ask yourselves, will anything other than the FoV and Amputator see unironic use?
-The Leviathan blade is gonna be slightly weaker, all things considered, because of the 3-hit charge attack instead of 4 - and the increased knockback which can fuck with teammates heavy (on certain levels) or hamper the damage of the sword itself against certain mobs.
-The CIV and the stunny reskins are gonna be buffed as well, in addition to the Sweet Dreams having less knockback (?) so this could be a very potent all-rounder weapon if actually getting it doesn't scare the player.
But still: The FoV and Amputator will outperform all of these simply because of the 4-hit charge attack...
That's why I propose that the Amputator should stay as a brandish so the strongest calibur would still have some valid drawbacks for deleting everything, while Amputator could get really stronk for free esentially. Admittedly, this opens up another can of worms of Amputator being the worst brandish, but that doesn't sway me from thinking that this re-classification is a very strange idea in the grand scheme of things.
Thots?
