Local's survival guide to Huaqiangbei for first timers

I live in Shenzhen and I'm basically in electronics for work, so friends always ask me to take them to Huaqiangbei. Here's what I tell them:

  1. Go on a weekday afternoon. Weekends are a contact sport.

  2. The big malls (SEG Plaza, Huaqiang Electronics World) are better for components and gadgets. Phone stuff is everywhere, quality varies a lot.

  3. Test before you pay. Plug it in, turn it on, check the ports. Stalls are friendly until the money leaves your hand.

  4. Ask the price, then walk away slowly. Prices get updated in real time.

  5. Set up Alipay before you come. Cash works, but you'll be the main character.

  6. 'Original' has a very flexible meaning here 🙂

Happy to answer questions if you're planning a trip.

26m Singaporean in Shenzhen Looking for Climbing / Bouldering Friends!

Hey! I'm a 26M ENFP and I'll be here till 2 Nov for a a business trip. Business is done, so I pretty much have nothing on my schedule until I go back. I like climbing and gymming, and I can speak conversational (albeit somewhat awkward) Chinese!

Happy to meet some new friends and climb together! Preferably near 福田 / 南山. Cheers!

Does Shenzhen have halloween parties?

Hello 👋🏽 So this will be my first time in Shenzhen during halloween and I was wondering if there are any cool places to go to this weekend. I’m guessing Coco Park and Sea World are going to be the best places to go but do people dress up? And other than these places do you have any other recommendations? Thank you

Hello! I'm planning to visit Shenzhen in November. Is there a gym that sells day passes and welcomes foreign visitors?

Wedding dress shopping

Hello!

I’m a CBC coming to Shenzhen to try on wedding dresses for rental. So far, I’ve been recommended by our planner to visit shops like MuseMary and was wondering if anyone has any insight on their experience with MuseMary? Did you visit multiple times to try on dresses before making a decision? Are prices negotiable at this type of higher end store for rentals?

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations 2 days in Shenzhen

Hey guys

Stopping over in Shenzhen on the 1st until the 3rd

I'm planning to also go-to Guangzhou to go-to the jade Street to buy something.

Specifically looking for a few recommendations and some local knowledge:

any 10-15k scenic flat running routes?

What's good to do at night that doesn't involve drinking ?

Where are some good places to go shopping for men ? Ideally non branded per local brands would be cool, but good quality is a must.

Any other recommendations in Guangzhou ?

Places recommended for a massage or pampering

I'm staying in Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen Longgang Yonghu.

Thanks locals !
