tl;dr the fine print of Rule 3 has been adjusted to explicitly forbid modern indie games unless playable on original hardware (homebrew)
It's my own fault that this change has to be made, I allowed a few "psx-inspired" indie game posts to remain up despite breaking the rules because of the large amount of upvotes they received.
I'd post and sticky comments like "It's off topic but y'all like it so I'll leave it up". My approach to moderation has always been to let the community make content decisions when appropriate. Unfortunately adjustments need to be made to protect the subject matter of this community.
Due to the massive influx of shovelware indie games that are "psx inspired" getting posted here, I'm sorry to say that Rule 3 will have to be more strictly enforced.
From this point forward, for indie games to be posted here they will have to be playable on PSX hardware or an emulator. Games that run on real hardware fall firmly into the category of homebrew, which is perfectly appropriate to discuss here. Games that run in PSX emulators but not real hardware are also allowed. "Retro Inspired" or "PSX Inspired" games that do not fulfill either of those 2 requirements will be removed and the poster will get a 24 hour ban.
The ban is meant to be informative to the poster, not punitive. However repeat offenders will be permanently banned.
Here is a friendly flowchart to help you decide whether or not it's appropriate to post your indie game in this community:

Thank you for reading and thank you for posting. Best of luck in all your indie dev adventures.

Something is moving inside slightly when I tilt the box. Is that normal? Could it be just the manuals or something else?
It was packed very very well when I received it.
Should I keep the seal intact or break it and have a look inside to make sure everything's alright? The box looks perfect. No damage on it whatsoever.
I bought two PS one screens from two separate sellers, one of them I bought intentionally with the seal opened.

It's insane how far the GTA franchise has come! Now it's one of the biggest videogame franchises ever!

Did anyone actually win prizes from this? If so what did you get, and how did you redeem it?

So I bought a cheap wireless controller off AliExpress for my ps1 and discovered it lets me use the analog sticks in old games that don't support it, I've tested a few. I think it's just reading it as D Pad inputs but kind of a cool unattended feature from something super cheap.
Works in unsupported games when analog is turned off, doesn't work when analog is turned on.

Trying to update to the latest RC5 build but cannot for the life of me get it to work.
I downloaded the latest build from GitHub, extracted it and placed it in a folder titled "UPDATE" on the root of the SD card.
Bu it just boots as normal into the old version of Picostation.
I can see the SD card and files, games boot as normal too.
What am I doing wrong?
I really dont want to have to take it apart to get to the USB.
It's important to clarify that I'm relatively novice to retro gaming and especially new to CRT TVs. I was doing some browsing and I saw two people selling CRT TVs around my area that peaked my interest. Images of the TVs will be show in the images above.
The first offer is a 10 inch Sylvania CRT TV. Although the poster did not post an image of the back of the TV, it does offer audio and video output as seen on the front. It may be a Sylvania SRT2213 model from 2002 based on some research that I've done. Seems like a decently sized option. The seller is asking for $50.
The other offer is a 13 inch RCA TV that was manufactured February 1999. I can see on the back that it's model E13332BC. The seller says it's in good shape, but doesn't have inputs. Would not having inputs be an issue? The seller is asking $100 for it.
I would love to know what you guys think about these offers. I'm honestly impressed to even find such CRT TVs on marketplace since I live in a weird part of my city, but I don't want to give in to a crappy deal. Are these good CRT TVs for their price?

I still have my psx pal SCPH-1002c. At some point in its early years it really struggled to read discs and the optic bloc was changed entirely.
Nowadays, it has problems again but not exactly the same. At first it seemed the console could read discs randomly, but I've discovered something peculiar. Once the console has been switched on for 20~25mn, it can read discs, sometimes immediately, sometimes after a couple of resets. And once it read the disc, it just works perfectly. No lag in FMV, or abnormally long loading times.

I'd definitely say it is. Not only is it my favorite sports game, it's one of my favorite games of all time!

I have started on a project to make a detailed wiki for the Codemasters PSX game Micro Machines v3!
If you are familiar with the game or are interested in it, you should check it out!

Which do you prefer? I just got the one without joysticks. Never used one before today at all. always had joystick controllers as my PS1 was given to me for Christmas 1998.
Wanted to get the joystickless controller for the 8bitdo mod kit to make it wireless. I never really used the joysticks that much anyways. But I also wanted to add this controller to my collection just to have one.
Does anyone actually prefer the Original? I actually kinda like that they are lighter. But of course having the joysticks is a great option if you play a game that allows them.

I’ve recently taken an interest in retro gaming. I tried firing up my old PS1, but when I press the power button, the green light just flickers on and off—there’s likely a short circuit. Upon opening the console, I noticed that the wire I’ve marked in red is disconnected, but I can’t figure out where it’s supposed to be soldered. I’ve looked for reference material, but I haven’t found a soldering diagram that matches my unit; the connection points for these wires seem to be different from what I’m seeing in other examples. Could you help me out?
