Question Girlfriend going to Rust themed halloween party, should I be worried?

So my girlfriend just told me she got invited to some halloween party and that the theme was from this game called rust. When I asked to see her costume said she was going as a “naked from the beach”? Not quite sure what this means. Is this normal in the Rust community? Have you guys been to any halloween parties where everyone is the “naked from the beach”

Suggestion Align reload “click” with the finish of the reload

I like many rust players also play quite a bit of CS. Anyone who has played a fair amount of CS knows that when you hear the click, your reload has finished and you can switch to your knife/util/etc. In rust you seem to have to finish almost the whole reload animation in order for it to register, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve switched to a med after a reload because I heard the auditory click just to have accidentally canceled my reload.

I just made the t3 workbench and researched everything. The sewing kit is still locked? I put 1 into a research table and the part that says "t3 workbench required" is still red.

Help?

Discussion Cows are so buggy

I've lost 3 brand new calves to unloading. It seems like they get stuck when I have 2 loaded in the back of a truck and hit unload on one. It makes this pathetic "bleat" sound, a quick blood splatter, and then it's just gone. No body, no calf.

Also, they overlap each other in a completely ridiculous and immersion-ruining way.

And they are so dumb that they will follow me and get stuck, in a pasture full of grass, with a trough full of food, and die of starvation because they can't find food. Or get hung up on structure, or each other, and die of starvation. I have to literally check them every 15 minutes to make sure they're not starving to death. If they are, I have to lead them toward the trough and let them go, then hop over the fence before they follow me and get stuck again.

Typical FP rush to live without proper testing. I was happy to see all the new stuff coming out after Alister left, but now it feels like FP needs an adult in the room.

Discussion Binds that cycle between two different settings, e.g. voices 5 and voices 0(mute)

bind <key> ~meta.exec "audio.voices 0" "showtoast 0 'audio.voices 0'"; meta.exec "audio.voices 5" "showtoast 1 'audio.voices 5'"

~ - in the front, allows you to cycle through commands

meta.exec - allows you to combined commands to execute together, such as "audio.voices 0" + "showtoast 0 'audio.voices 0'"

audio.voices - changes voice volume, useful to instantly mute voice

showtoast <style> <text> - displays a pop-up message, style = 1 for blue, style = 2 for red, put text in single quotation marks for multiple words

bind <key> ~meta.exec "audio.master 0.1" "showtoast 0 'audio.master 0.1'";meta.exec "audio.master 0.5" "showtoast 1 'audio.master 0.5'"

audio.master - changes volume, useful for lowering volume when using tools

bind <key> ~meta.exec "client.lookatradius 0" "showtoast 1 'lookatradius 0'";meta.exec "client.lookatradius 0.4" "showtoast 0 'lookatradius 0.4'"

client.lookatradius - changes look radius, use 0.4 to help find dropped items, use 0 to precisely target things

bind <key> ~meta.exec "graphics.drawdistance 500" "showtoast 0 'graphics.drawdistance 500'";meta.exec "graphics.drawdistance 2500" "showtoast 1 'graphics.drawdistance 2500'"

Obviously, everyone hates the fragments, we'll see how the next wipe turns out, but i'm curious what would be a really good way to make progression better balanced

Discussion Solo players complaint about Zergs

I see a lot of solo players complaining about Zergs getting loot too fast or raiding and getting ak too fast. I see a lot of these comments on update post such as “oh now Zergs will be raiding with aks 1hr in because of this update”. I don’t think these solos understand that no matter any update if it isn’t an update to team size or clan size nothing will “nerf” Zergs. They will always progress the fastest and being raiding within 2-3hrs of server being wiped. I think solo players need to stop complaint about stuff like that because if the devs make loot harder to get it’s only really affecting you as a solo player and not any of these clans. So keep that in mind next time you see an update that nerfs a way your getting loot, it’s not nerfing any of these big clans because they still are gonna accumulate so much being that they have the advantage of more teammates but it’s definitely nerfing you as a solo because now you have to grind way more and still have to fight these Zergs.

I think solos should be complaining about team Ui and clan Ui sizes more than anything. Back in og rust pre team Ui, being solo was actually very nice as you could just kill anyone you saw and not have to worry about killing your teammates. Having a successful clan back then meant that your clan was very locked in and aware of where their teammates were on the map and what clothing they had on. It added more of a “skill gap” to managing a clan and didn’t just make it a numbers game because the more players you had the more likely you could get insided or get ghosted. I think this is the only way to “nerf” clans if that’s what the devs wanted to do.

So let’s put an end to these stupid comments about Zergs because the devs will see your comments and nerf loot spawns or nerf ways of getting loot because “Zergs will get aks and raid to fast” the only players that are getting hurt from this is solos so these comments basically shoot yourself in the foot. Instead of defending your base ak vs aks it will be defending your base p2 vs ak because you’re hard stuck on p2 because their isn’t enough loot to go around on the map because “Zergs will aks to fast”. Even though they will literally always have loot fast no matter what lol.

Suggestion Wolf Taming

Im thinking like cows, but, different.

Capture live with either damage done, food bait, bear trap idk. Not sold by anyone.

Must feed water and meat.

Train to use basic commands like go here, stay here, attack, etc.

Roaming around with a pack of wolves would just be a lot of fun i think.

Obv needs balancing. Cows sell for T2 guns so not that broken compared to cows even.

Dogs could have genetics like how well they follow orders, get along with others, vitality, fertility (breeding).

Might take me all day to breed a 6 pack of dogs and then another to train them, then go on a fun roam with them behind me.

When kept indoors without being interacted with, played with, given space to roam - stats lower.

Choose a cow farm for the income, wolf farm as a higher risk gamble to make a solid play.

Also, they can defend your base and small chance to sniff hidden stashes out maybe, also alerting of threats - got a DB grub? Dog starts barking lol

Question Good at everything but pvp, how to improve.

This will be possibly one of many or simmiliar posts, but id seriously want to get better at the ingame pvp part. The main issue is aim and adjusting my aim on enemy. My spray is pretty good (90m) but before i adjust i am either very low health or dead, and im not 40yo dude.

I have 1.6k hours on rust, solid knowledge of all ingame monuments and their mechanics, rust mechanics, electricals, building, crop farming, and added to that i can use enviroment to my advantage very well (2.5k hours on dayz). but i always lose in the pvp aspect of it.

I can win some fights, but if they are not inside monuments (i know all monuments and their peeks/spots very well) i 70% of the time still lose the fight even with better weapon like SAR vs P250, if its duo im already dead. I often try to use enviroment to run away/dissapear from some fights, and is the only strat that helps me survive.

I already tried playing in smaller groups, always the weak pvp part in them, but in clans when roaming 4+ i actually was good and even got some kills. but when in lower numbers i always kept dying and then hate started coming towards me as the bad pvper, so that was the end of it.

I have spent some time on hellis lately, as i heard it was very good server for pvp practice but i only kept getting trippled by pvp gods to that point it was unplayable. So i switched to rustreborn duels and actually improved a little. but in normal enviroment i still keep dying and losing.

How to fix/improve my aim overall and be better than some of the 300h pvp beamers? I dont want to give up on rust as i really like playing it, but cannot enjoy it as much as others who know pvp.

Last thing, if you want to comment something like: "skill issue get gud" or "ur bad dont play", rather dont comment at all. I want to improve and will appreciate every helpful comment under my post.

Discussion Building a pc mainly for rust how much should i spend on the cpu vs gpu?

I'm planning to build a PC mainly for Rust and I'm trying to figure out how to get the best FPS possible without wasting money on components that won't make much of a difference.

From what I understand, Rust benefits heavily from L3 cache, which makes AMD's X3D processors especially good for it. However, I'm not really sure how much the GPU matters when paired with one of these cpus.

Right now I'm debating between the 5500X3D, 7600X3D and 7800X3D. Is the 7800X3D really that much better than the other two in Rust, or would I be spending a lot more for relatively small FPS gains?

My other big question is about the GPU. Since Rust is so CPU dependent, how powerful does my graphics card actually need to be before spending more stops making much of a difference?

For example, if I paired a 7800X3D with a 1660ti versus an 5070, how big would the FPS difference actually be when playing on low settings? I know that's an extreme comparison, but I'm trying to understand just how CPU bound Rust really is.

Basically, I want to get as much fps as possible for my money, and I'd rather spend more on the cpu and save on the gpuu if that's what makes the most sense.

Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who've tested different CPU/GPU combinations in Rust.

If you ask what's my budget, Yes, i can afford a 7800x3d and a 5070 but if a 5500x3d and a 2060 make for a 10 fps difference id pick the second choice all day

Discussion Random "Low" Fps "Fix"

So I have noticed a few times that its like the game runs bad and almost feels like micro stuttering.
One solution I found is to set in Windows 11 to "High Performance" inside your "Power Options".

First Screenshot is with Balanced, Second is same location with High Performance

High Performance

So for anyone that may experience weird fps decreases randomly, give it a try, but do remember to set back to Balanced to not waste electricity, when not gaming.
Normaly balanced should push to high performance mode when gaming, but sometimes Windows 11 + Rust fails to do this. This does not always happen to me, but when performance seems lower than it should, it often is the cause.

Other performance improvements
If you right click properties in Steam Library for Rust and go to Game Versions & Beta and then select "test" gpu skinning. It can sometimes improve the fps aswell together with above.

I play with mostly all settings on maxed at 1440p

PC
AMD Ryzen 9900x3d
AMD 9070 XT 26.10.1 Driver (been the same with older drivers)
32GB DDR5 7200mhz

Discussion "New" Blueprint fragments update

By now, everyone has probably heard that they're bringing back the old system where you can unlock T1, T2, and T3 workbenches with scrap, which I personally think is a good change.

However, they recently revealed how you'll be able to obtain the new small and advanced blueprint fragments, and I'm honestly a little concerned. Before they revealed the drop rates, I assumed small blueprint fragments would be relatively easy to obtain. I figured you'd be able to collect 100+ of them and craft them into advanced fragments, giving you 10 blueprint unlocks, which is barely anything when you consider how far the tech tree goes.

But apparently, there's only a 20% chance of getting 2 small blueprint fragments from a large underwater crate. That means you'd need to open 25 crates on average just to get 10 small fragments, which is equivalent to a single advanced fragment.

Previously, blueprint fragments also had a 20% drop chance, meaning that after opening 25 crates, you'd have a very high chance of getting what you needed for a T2 workbench. By that point, you'd probably also have collected enough scrap to progress pretty far down the tech tree.

My biggest concern with this change is that everyone will have access to T2 workbenches, but almost nobody will actually be able to progress through the tech tree at a reasonable pace. Instead, players might end up relying almost entirely on finding the items they want and researching them directly at a research table.

I like the idea of bringing back the old workbench system, but I'm worried that blueprint progression is going to become unnecessarily grindy, especially considering how many items there are to unlock.

What do you guys think? Am I missing something, or could this actually become a problem?

Question Rust. Why do players carry armor instead of wearing it?

Why do so many Rust players run around naked after leaving their base and only put on their armor or hazzy right before a fight?

Wouldn't you be way more likely to die if someone started shooting at you before you even noticed them? You'd have a much better chance of surviving if you were already geared up.

I get that it's probably to avoid looking like you have loot on you, but they're still running around with a gun instead of a rock, so I don't really get the logic.

Maybe I just don't have enough hours in Rust yet, but can someone explain this to me?

ru:
