Petition to address the environmental impact of hyperscale AI data centres — including Lorneville
There is currently an open petition on the official Parliament of Canada website concerning the proposed Lorneville AI data centre.
The petition calls on the federal government to strengthen environmental and community protections for hyperscale data centres, including applying federal impact assessment requirements to certain large facilities and requiring stronger environmental standards.
The proposed Lorneville project involves a 390 MW data centre, a 190 MW natural-gas generation facility, and another 200 MW of electricity from the NB Power grid.
I think it's reasonable to question whether the environmental impacts, energy demands, and economic benefits of a project of this scale have been adequately assessed before it moves forward.
The project has implications for local communities, New Brunswick's electricity system, and Canada's climate commitments.
If you agree that stronger federal oversight and protections are needed, please consider signing the petition.
Link to the official House of Commons petition:
https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Sign/e-7553
The petition is open for signatures until November 7, 2026.
Please read the petition and decide for yourself whether you support it. Every signature helps bring the issue to Parliament's attention.

The Saint John Cruise Scene
I don't think New Brunswicker's outside of Saint John appreciate the cruise ship industry like SJ does. When I lived there for a year I was blown away by the massive ships that would rock up, often blasting their horns for like literally no reason at 6 AM.
It was a sight to see. I loved it. I had many questions. To generalize, I think we in the maritimes hear the word cruise and think the Bahamas or the Caribbean. Get me somewhere warm.
And that generalization had always left me with the question: Who are these people that get on the big boats and come to Saint John New Brunswick.
So I looked into it. All 58 ships that hit the port this year, where they went before, where they went after.
A view of the cruise industry and the City of Saint John.

NBCC Supply Chain Management – Job Prospects?
Hi everyone! I'm an international student from China considering NBCC's Supply Chain Management program.
I'd like to ask a few questions:
- How difficult is it to find a full-time job after graduation?
- What entry-level jobs do graduates usually get?
- Are there opportunities in Moncton or Saint John?
- How good does my English need to be? Are there jobs that don't require much communication?
- Is it realistic to find a job and eventually get PR in New Brunswick?
I'm willing to start in a warehouse or entry-level position, but I'd eventually prefer an office-based role in logistics, inventory, or purchasing.
I'd really appreciate honest advice from NBCC graduates or people working in these industries. Thanks!

Looking for advice getting into diesel mechanics (Saint John, NB).
I’m looking to get into diesel mechanics but have no experience in the field. I’m wondering what the best place to start would be for someone in my position.
Would you recommend applying for entry-level jobs, trying to get on as a shop helper/apprentice, or going to school first?
I’m willing to learn and put in the work. Just looking for advice from people in the trade about what route they’d recommend and which companies around Saint John might be worth looking into.
Any advice is appreciated!

Why is there a perception in New Brunswick that there hasn't already been an extensive oil and gas industry in certain areas of the province?
In all the debate around oil and gas in New Brunswick, people seem to forget that Albert County has produced oil and gas for well over 100 years. It can be argued that Gesner's distillation of Albertite into Kerosene was the start of the entire petroleum industry. There were well over 300 wells drilled in the area over the years. Moncton used to be supplied with natural gas from the Stoney Creek field.
Can someone point me to any reports of issues surrounding oil and gas development in that region?
Here is a link to a map showing modern location of recent wells in New Brunswick.

This is a list of wells that have been drilled in the region.

New Brunswick Accent Help Please!
I'm a author writing a few New Brunswickers and really struggling to show how they speak. Can anyone recommend movies, books, podcasts, anything with great NB accents I can listen to and mimic?
Does anyone want to read my dialogue and "translate" it for me?
Looking for a variety of locations and backgrounds.

Golf Courses Still Open in NB
Many courses are now closed for the season, but some of the Southern courses, and the not-so-fancy courses, are still open. Which ones? If possible, list the course, if there’s a known closing date, and if they have abbreviated layout (some switch to 9 holes, no pins, temp greens, etc).
