discussion The San Diego metal scene has gotten so bad that i'm throwing in the towel
Our premiere metal venue just got shut down, every good local band has called it quits, and all I see now is AI generated flyers for boomer bands with American flags everywhere. Most good metal tours skip us now and I don't blame them at all
End of an era. Glad I was here when it was fun but good gravy what a shit show it's become

discussion Have you ever had a live music moment that completely changed how you feel about a genre?
I’ve been a die-hard metalhead my entire life. If it wasn't heavy, fast, or aggressive, it usually didn't hit the spot for me. Studio recordings were pretty much all I listened to.
Then a few nights ago, I was sitting at a local bar just trying to unwind. A local band came on stage and started playing live blues and jazz.
I’m not exaggerating when I say it blew me away. For the first time in years, I literally got goosebumps from music. There was something about the raw room acoustics, the improvisation, and the sheer energy of human beings creating sound right in front of you that no studio mix or high-end headphones could ever replicate.
Has anyone else had a single live performance completely open your eyes to a genre you used to ignore?
