Ask Malaysians Bad seller? How to report?

Post image
56 Upvotes

I recently bought a preorder oneplus at a good price imo. I thought it was a win! But the seller keeps on poaching me to cancel with rude communications and finally they cancelled it. What a sad case!

It was not my fault shopee are giving out discount vouchers, thats the main reason we are using the platform anyways. Now it’s just a joy killer knowing your items that you bought using vouchers might be cancelled due to shop do not want to own the prices.

Casual Conversation 🎭 There’s this guy at work that is willing to talk to me in private but not in a group setting

Hi everyone, I’m (22F) and work in an office setting where there’s multiple companies in the same floor. There’s this guy (I think 25M?) from another company that I used to have occasional casual chats with in the office pantry. Although our chats were never too personal, but it happened 2-3 times as we somehow decided to take a tea break at the same time.

However, work has been keeping me busy so I haven’t had the chance to talk him much during tea breaks anymore, however I sometimes bump into him alone, or together with a few of his other colleagues. I have been noticing that he tends to be friendlier when I spot him alone, but if his colleagues are around he tends to let them talk and keeps to himself, or pretend he isn’t part of the conversation. Just today, we had an inter-company sports event, and he just sort of ignored me when I waved to him twice, even though I bumped into him yesterday and he asked if I was coming to the event. He also avoided talking to me but talked normally to his colleagues that were there when we were having a group conversation.

I’m wondering if this is normal behaviour, and I’d also like to think that it’s not anything weird as we literally just talked for a few times and I also literally have forgotten his name… Just wondering if anyone has faced similar situations too and what did you do next

Casual Conversation 🎭 Are female bosses generally harder to work with?

I have worked with a fair share of male and female bosses. Honestly, I have generally had a much better relationship with my male bosses. They are more chill, easygoing, approachable and willing to joke around.

With female bosses, I have often found them more prone to micromanaging, being stricter, controlling and demanding.

Is it just me or anyone else experience the same thing?

Why so many? Each state got their own apps. Sabah got 2 summore (sabah pay for KK and flexi pay for penampang)

Rant currently stuck at a Giant, their parking system by Matrix Parking failed. nothing can override it, no one from HQ answers, not even the 24hr emergency numbers, over 30 cars now stuck. FML

UPDATE: This is not Matrix Parking’s first rodeo. They’ve done this to a british man, he was stuck and their machines couldn’t accept payment, the operator was of no help and he opened it himself and was arrested the day after because Matrix did a report. Passport taken away and he was stuck in Malaysia for months. Was forced to pay about Rm20k for bail, fees and fines. i finally managed to squeeze my car out from an opening to the left of the gate, thankfully i was driving a small car. others not so lucky.

Mildly Menarik Racer snails, one of our native freshwater species

Post image
43 Upvotes

Vittina waigiensis, the red racer snail or siput timba merah.

A small (3 cm) freshwater snail that lives in clean coastal streams with high flow and many rocks. It is not tolerant of turbid water and silt.

It feeds on microalgae, filamentous algae, diatoms, cyanobacteria, and organic biofilm scraped from hard surfaces using a specialized radula (“tongue”). They are the natural cleaners of their habitat.

They have separate sexes. When their white eggs hatch, the planktonic/veliger larvae wash downstream where they require brackish water to develop.

Their bright colours, peaceful nature and algae-feasting tendencies makes them popular aquarium inhabitants.

Rant Motorcycle hit my car and made a false police report

And police concluded case as Refer to Magistrate (RTM). Found out off record that the motor party made a false report.

He was a foreigner, and his owner immediately came and took him away from the scene. Later found out that it was reported as a Malay guy riding and injured. They also claimed bodily injury on my insurance. And the scene was reported wrongly, it was a two way road and i was turning right, he hit me from the back, right side because i have already half turned. In his report, he wrote as junction and i made a turn without looking.

As for insurance, obviously lost my NCD, but i’m not happy he made a false report and is claiming everything under my insurance

Unfortunately, no dashcam and there’s nothing i can do

I made a police report the first thing after my car was towed. The police who took my report even told me it’s clearly not my fault and i won’t be summoned. My report was very detailed of the damages too.

When i went to collect the keputusan siasatan after 2 months, they told me it wasn’t ready because the pegawai got transferred. And i was waiting there for quite some time until another pegawai called me over, saw my original police report, and told me the exact words “oh kes ni report nak kena buat ammendment ni. Takpe nanti kita update bila dah ready”

*Reposting it here

Rant Life feels.. interesting

Im at an interesting place in my life. Halfway through college, recently started my business that im starting to see progress in, just silently working towards my goals, gave up on asking girls out, so no stress about relationships. Im surrounded by a motivating and supportive group of friends (they my brothers at this point) i have a good family, amazing relationship with my parents and siblings, i’ve been accepted into a russell group university, started my diet a month ago and i feel much healthier. It’s like.. everything is so mundane yet, it’s exactly where i wanna be at this point in my life. Sure i would love to date. But I’m not at the moment, and I’m okay with that. Everything in my life is something that i’m eternally grateful for. And for someone at 20 years old, I’m happy with absolutely nothing to complain about. Anyways, that’s it! Just a little post to everything im grateful for.

Help ⚠️ TNG E-wallet, facing Fraud/Scam

So earlier I’ve made a small amount of transaction (about RM40) online through Tiktok, it was supposed to be a trade between MYR with an in-game item. The seller had multiple proofs and people vouching for their legitimacy, so i caved in and bought the item, but in the end they blocked me after receiving the payment.

Here’s the transaction background: I am from Malaysia and made a payment through TNG E-wallet using the QR code they gave which directs to an Indonesian bank account. This is a red flag I should’ve noticed earlier because if a scam occurred, it’s usually really complicated and hard to retrieve or file a report.

I have filed a report to TNG through the fraud/scam report form, however I’ve noticed one of their policy stating “an authorised payment despite being tricked/scammed is not eligible for a refund.” Now i’m seeking for advice if there are any ways to receive a refund? I know it’s only a small amount (RM40), which is why I am hesitant on filing a police report that involves international authorities, i tried to called the 997 line, but they told me they’re only capable of freezing local transactions.

I am hoping to grab some advice or hope from people who too had such experience and managed to get their refund.

I have all the evidence of the scam, including the communications/messages, the QR code they gave, the transaction ID etc. Please tell me if theres any additional needed

Ask Malaysians As a Form3 UASA student, is it OK if I get into the Accounting Stream if I want to be a Data Engineer?

I will get an A in English for sure, and for Mathematics, probably over 55, 66 if lucky, for Grade B? I just know I did all the questions with ease, but I don't know if I did any careless mistakes.

For Sejarah, if I do get full marks in KBAT, I counted the guaranteed marks. If my objectives and other questions are correct, I can get extra marks and get 40+.
Science as well, I counted the guaranteed marks and it's 46+, same as Sejarah if I score extra then I'll get over 50+.
And I know I'm passing BM.

However, my grade has smart students so, 76 will be getting into Science. and 5 competitors that I know of, that means 79 can get in. I don't know where I stand in this case, and I'm not sure what other students may have decided to lock in and take that 80th place.

That is because my Science Stream has 3 classes, 30 + 30 for the two Pure Science, and 20 for the Computer Science. So it's 80.

But I don't know.. if I can get in. My maths are above average, English is A, but Sejarah + Science + Malay are roughly passing...

I want to be a data engineer not for prestige, but I've been passionate for it. Plus, if I'm in Science Stream that means I get the Add Maths, Chemistry, Physics.

If I get into Accounting (Which is a guaranteed. I'm wrestling between Science Computer and Accounting.)
That means it's Arts Stream. It's not a bad thing but not the path I'm going for.
My UASA marks have not come out yet, but this is just my prediction.

So.. just in case, if I do get into Accounting Stream, how should I do this? Focus on studying a lot and score A's until SPM? Hopefully they have Mathematics, I know they have General Science, but is that really enough for my Engineer desire? I don't know much about this, so... please tell me what you know.
If I can still go about that path in Accounting Stream, then I don't have to worry, even if it's not what I wanted initially.

But if it means after graduation, I have to take a one year in Computer Science or Engineering to make up for my Arts Stream subjects (Because I didn't have Add Maths, Chemistry or Physics) It's not going to be good. It costs more, and takes one year? I don't want to be a hassle to my parents... because of money and then having to study one more year because of my stream outcome.

I know time will pass away, but please help me with what you know.

Quick Question Are there any other markets around Johor Bahru with this kind of atmosphere?

I visited Pandan City Wholesale Market recently and really liked the atmosphere there. Busy, noisy, a bit chaotic and very local.
Are there any other markets around JB that feel similar?
I filmed a walk through Pandan City as well if anyone wants to have a look:

Ask Malaysians As a Form3 UASA student, please tell me about how the stream works.

I read a few posts about Science Stream and Arts Stream.
Some people ask "Should I get into Science or Arts stream?" I'm confused because they can pick. My school strictly needs Sejarah and Malay to pass, and great in Maths and Science.
Now I'm confused, if you pass these subjects, but in batch ranking you're not in rank 80, will you still get in?

For example, you get a high maybe 60+ ish in Mathematics, I don't know the requirements. And pass Science, maybe above 50. Pass Malay and Sejarah.

But others get high marks in Arts, Geography, etc, but lower in Maths and Science, but they come up in rank 77 and you're 83. Who gets into Science Stream?

My school only has 3 classes of STEM, which is sad. Science A(Pure Science) is 30 slots, Science B(Pure Science) is 30 slots, Science C (Computer Science) is 20 slots. Which has me panicking, because I counted the top students, so 74 people will get into Science Stream. And a few competitors, their scores are not that bad, 5 people, so 79 people. There is one competitor inside whose PRA UASA has 30+ Science and Maths, so if he is still bad, I have a chance to get into 78-80th rankings. But I can't guess who might have locked in and got into these rankings.
Because we had a month to prepare, and I heard others say that specific competitor "locked in and wrote a lot on his science paper".

Now I'm stressed, I can't undo my marks, and I don't know how this works. Do I have to fight for rank 80?
My school initially said 25 slots for Computer Science, but it suddenly dropped down to 20 by the end of UASA. And now I'm thinking, what to do? I really want to get into Computer Science so badly.

I don't know if it's different in other schools, they can select their stream? I heard some during SPM even moved from Science Stream to Arts Stream, et cetera.
My Principal, however said "We cannot appeal for the stream because she believes her decision to put us in the streams are correct". So no appeals.

Mildly Menarik Invasive belida in Malaysia

Post image
113 Upvotes

Chitala ornata, the clown knifefish or belida bintik/tompok.

An invasive species that came from the Mekong. It has spread to ponds, rivers and lakes throughout Malaysia due to releases by people.

Pet stores sell the babies of this species cheaply, but they grow to 100 cm which means most people cannot take care of them and end up releasing them.

They are predators that eat our native fish as well as outcompete native belida like the giant featherback (C. lopis). In fact clowns are more common than them now.

They are a food fish in Thailand where the meat is minced to make into traditional fish balls and fish cakes. These products are even exported into other Asian countries where they are popular.

Drosera spatulata, the spoon-leaved sundew or pokok telinga ayam.

A tiny native carnivorous plant of Malaysia, it is found in damp acidic habitats like heath forests.
Locally it is considered endangered and hard to find.

Like other sundews, it is covered in tentacle-like glands that secrete a sticky mucilage to trap small insects.
It can often multiply rapidly after forest fires.
