Making 1200 in the next month
Need to make rent for a place I’m moving into in December and I have nothing to my name at the moment as my new job isn’t giving me the hours they promised. I am completely at fault for banking on them even though I still haven’t even received a contract. I have a drivers license and a car, not very tech savvy and I’m not sure what to do. I’ve been applying to a bunch of different jobs across kelowna and I’m running out of time. Wondering if anybody has any advice and or experience with this type of situation…

Gyms
Ok guys help me - I currently have a pass at H20. I am going crazy though! Everytime I go there, it’s packed, and there is only 1 of every equipment. It’s impossible to get anything done. I’m talking; all times of day!
I need a new gym. I work downtown so I wouldn’t mind down there.
Do you guys have any recommendations? I’m a girl ps but don’t specifically need a women’s section!

What are people upto on 31st?
What are people doing on 31st for partying. Everything seems to be either sold out or wanting $100 per person. Any niche spots?

Plaid Ripstop/waterproof Fabric
Hi all,
I’m looking for some waterproof plaid fabric to make a snow jacket, however I cannot find anything online that doesn’t involve temu or etsy. Is there anyone local who would know where I could find in person? Or on the web.
(Unfortunately Michale’s and fabricland penticton are a no)

Dynacare labs have ruined our healthcare system
Have you noticed that since Dynacare took over from Valley Medical Lab things have gone terribly wrong?
It takes hours to get a simple blood test. Seniors waiting outside in the dark in their walkers at 7am so they can wait at least an hour (but not hours) to get blood drawn.
It’s a big problem. If you have gone to a lab recently you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I was wondering why things got so bad and thought maybe it was population increase? No, this isn’t the reason. It’s because dynacare is a private company and they aren’t paying their staff enough and they’re understaffed. They are a shitty corporation who does not care about our wait times.
What can we do?
Edit: I found out from many of you that:
a) dynacare sucks because the provincial government won’t allow any competition so they have no motivation to make it nice for us.
b) the Glenmore dynacare (the one I go to) is the worst and the other ones not so bad!
I’m stoked to try some of the other locations let’s party! Lol

Fitness classes for teens.
I have a 13 year old, they want to exercise and become strong, I know there are fitness classes for adults but do we have any options for younger kids?
Thanks!

Welp, that’s the election!
Despite the ongoing toss up in Kelowna Centre, how are we feeling this morning with our collective election hangovers?

What happened to my tree
galleryThis happens to my tree last night and I’m just wondering if anyone has had something similar happen and if it looks like the act of a deer or some kind of vandalism. I live by Knox mountain.

What's happening at Costco?
It's super crowded today more than usual. I couldn't find a parking spot anywhere for quite a while...
An ambulance showed up as well!

Local Resources Looking for dentist recommendation :)
I have really bad anxiety, especially dental anxiety and have avoided dentists due to bad experiences and fear. I would absolutely prefer to be put under but assume i would have to travel to vancouver for sedation. I can’t ignore my dental health anymore and am looking for a dentist who is very patient, and fully understands dental anxiety in Kelowna even if they don’t offer sedation, TIA.

Kelowna Halloween
Hey everyone! I’m 25F and recently moved to Kelowna. I’m still pretty new to the city and haven’t had the chance to meet many people yet. I was wondering if anyone has any Halloween plans or knows of any fun events happening? I’d love to tag along with a group or meet some new people! :)

Where are we meeting people?
For those of you who met your partner in person and not on an app, where did you meet them? Please share some cute stories. And also let me know where I should go to hang out to find my own partner lol. Please also share tips on how to be brave to approach the men that I think are good looking 😅
Water tanks and buckets on highway driveways
—Thanks to those answering honestly. I live in BC, been through many fire seasons but never saw this. It’s pretty great. Thanks also to the a-holes commenting mean stuff, you make me laugh.—
Drove Hwy 33 south and saw many driveways have a white water tank, steel framed, with buckets attached. What’s up?

House hacking in Kelowna
I am looking to relocate to Kelowna and buy a house. I have found older homes with 1-2 bedroom basement suites in the $ 750-850k range. Plan would be to live there as my primary residence and either do short-term rentals for the suite or even possibly live in the suite myself and rent the upstairs either short-term or long-term. Has anyone had any luck with this in Kelowna? Are there strong rents that make it worthwhile? Is Airbnb or other platforms a good option to increase revenue via short-term rentals ? I currently rent in Vancouver and own a contracting business here, however I am not interested in staying long term in Vancouver and prefer the Okanagan lifestyle.

Gyms with specific equipment? And affordable day passes?
Hey folks, I’m looking for a gym that I can get a day pass at a couple of times while I’m visiting for a week in November. Looking for a gym that has both a smith machine and a hip abduction machine.
I lived in Kelowna for 6 years but only went to the YMCA here and there while I lived there. I’m visiting friends so I have access to a vehicle and can get to any gym in the city if needed.

West Kelowna Walmart reeks! What is going on there?
I just went to Walmart on the west side to get some distilled water and the entrance by the bakery stinks to high heaven. It smells like something died and is rotting. I asked the greeter what happened but they acted like I was crazy and there was no smell.
Anyone know what is going on?

Burger King Sanrio
The BK in Penticton seemed to have only been shipping Keroppis. Do the BKs here have other characters?
