Indian Takeaway - am I getting free poppadoms or not? Do I need to order them? Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.

The "Lets Save Water" advert.

1.4k Upvotes

Yeah sure nice one - let's try to get kids to blame Gen Z and older for "wasting water", with only the tiniest of nods to "let's keep 'improving the network' ".

Would you care to show a graph of how much water wastage is from not "improving the network" opposed some child's hand breaking through the tiles and turning off everyone's showers 10 seconds earlier?

Perhaps adding Data Centres (including newly proposed and planning approved AI related ones) to the same graph?

No, didn't think so. Get in the fucking sea, water companies - you're good at that.

Frozen chicken kyivs are impossible to cook. At this point I'm beginning to doubt if it's even actually possible to cook any of these without them leaking, no matter the brand.

Every Bloody Website Launching a ‘ New AI Tool!’ That NOBODY will EVER use!

Used to work at Morrisons so keep an eye on news about it and just saw that they’ve discontinued their ‘AI Carts’ (whatever that is or means), and I’m like ok this is a actual annoying problem atm.

Why is it like EVERYTHING seems to have invested in these stupid AI tools in their sites and apps, and I don’t know if I’m at odds here, but the vast majority was not worth whatever investment was dumped into it. Furthermore it actually pisses me off because it puts more spam type marketing emails and pop ups in my life like ‘Try Tilly! Our New AI service that helps you by giving you useless recommendations and completely doesn’t work for anything actually useful!’

Like all my bank apps, shopping apps, delivery apps, furniture stores, EVERYTHING!

If I’m gonna use AI, I’ll probably use Gemini or something, I’m not gonna use your bloatware, upselling, data collecting, sunk cost AI tool, leave me alone.

Trying to plan a Halloween night out while living in a rural area

I love my mum, but my idea of a good night out is not the local pub with everyone in attendance 50+. Nor is my dad's idea of watching a scary movie alone appealing.

But by God, do ScotRail and the buses make sure you can't get home once everywhere decent actually gets going. No no, all services have to close before midnight. Whoever heard of a 21 year old wanting to stay out past then?

Called the Dr's and spent an hour in 2nd place in the queue

Called the drs, they inform me I'm in 7th place...

I hang up, have a cup of tea and call back...

I'm now in 2nd place...

Great, this shouldn't take long...

Periodically they remind me that I'm in 2nd place, thanks for waiting, the call is important and if its not life threatening, consider calling back later...

No, should be fine, I'm in 2nd place...

An entire hour passes of listening to the same rotating messages and hold music and I can't decide if there's a glitch in the system or the person who is actually on the line is being incredibly difficult...

I gave up, I'll try again tomorrow

I can't decide what's worse...

Being told your 19th in queue or 2nd for an hour straight

Spotted and followed a gang of shoplifters. Talked the police right to them. Zara declined to support a prosecution.

• Upvotes

I was out shopping with the family today sod in Smiggles when the
Three Teenagers came walking in picked up some backpacks and walked out straight past me.

I want having that so called the police who sent two cars (three officers) on blue lights whilst I followed them.

The gang went into Zara where they nicked some jeans whilst I watched them setting the alarms off and everything.

I followed the gang for about five minutes to a car. Police arrived as they were about to drive away. Spoke to them found the stolen goods. Nicely done.

I walked with the cop back to the store (as my family were waiting) so was stood with the cop when he asked the Zara Manager if they could confirm the theft (They did) and if they would support a prosecution. She was told that I had seen it and followed them all the way to the car. And she bloody said NO?! They would not support. Like what the fuck?!

Retail industry complains about enough not being done to stop shoplifters and there’s me a well meaning member of public doing what I can to help them and they just let them get away with it.

The Smiggles store was really thankful, appreciated, and did prosecute. So all being well they will be dealt with.. no thanks to Zara.

Having to edit all the bad stuff of hotel reviews for Hotels UK before they accept the review :-(

Another refusal to publish objective and well written reviews because they’re too negative. I’ve upgraded a hotel from a 1/5 to a 3/5 and removed half of the text and now it’s been published.

Most of my reviews are 5/5 but a few are genuinely 1 or 2 and they never get published. What’s that about?!

Typos in LBC app news stories

Am I going insane? Every single story for as long as I can remember has had an absolutely GLARING typo or repeated paragraph.

It can’t be a coincidence. AI or a human would not consistently make these mistakes without someone noticing.

It’s driving me nuts.

People hacking and coughing a few feet behind you on the bus, then giving you a weird look

why do people have to insist on sounding like they have a death rattle, HUEAFRGH hocking and slurping up spittle everywhere, bring up your phlegm loudly when you're not on the bus dckheads

guy did it the other day and then when I looked at him he gave me the weirdest smile, not sure if he's special or just a weirdo

I invited a Deliveroo rider in for a cup of tea

It's blowing an absolute gale outside and pitch black, so I felt awful for him. But it was probably the most awkward thing that has ever happened to him in his job 😅😱 pretty sure he thought I was asking for a booty call until I introduced my husband within seconds.

I thought I was being nice but now I am suffering deep British embarrassment.

ETA: I was ordering household staples from a supermarket, not fancy takeaway.

Driving test wait times putting so much more pressure on me than the actual test 😭

My driving test is in febuary, which I booked in August, and I'm honestly more worried about the 5-6 month wait for another test than failing the test.

The idea of being told I failed and knowing I won't get another test for another 6 months just pains me, and I get anxious every day thinking about it.

I want to pass so much.

The system needs a change. When my older relatives did their test it was a 3-4 week wait for another test, so if you failed, it was annoying but you could just re do it in 3 weeks time, whereas nowadays that's just not possible. ( unless you get extremely lucky and get an earlier test)

My rant/everyday worry.

Music on the radio is ridiculously depressing right now.

Every time I put the radio on, it’s the same cycle of:

🎵 Stoooooop the weddingggg!

And

🎵 Patient zeroooo-oh

(Slow, depressing beat)

Are there genuinely no fast, exciting, upbeat songs being released at the moment? Everything seems so slow, moody and miserable.

Feels like the UK could do with a few songs that actually make you want to get up and do something!

Why are fragrance free products more expensive and harder to get

I just want one *less* ingredient.

Asthma eczema migraines and allergies dictate that fragranced products are not my friend. Plenty of people have one or more of these issues, it’s hardly an anomaly.

If I need shower gel, hand wash, household cleaners, washing up liquid etc, its never as simple as popping on UberEats, to the corner shop / Sainsbury’s Local etc. I have to trek to a big store in person to rummage through shelves of heavily scented items to find the few that aren’t, or do an online shop and hope they dont swap out my items for something smelly. Because apparently its niche to want unfragranced?

And dont even get me started on the price and scarcity of laundry detergents that dont make your clothes stink like an explosion in a knockoff perfume factory.

One. Less. Ingredient. Sans Parfums!

Meh.

Vertical strips of wood with black in between them

Yes, they look alright and they’re fashionable. But they’ll be deeply unfashionable in about 6 years.

I’ll buy new trousers, but you’re not getting me to redecorate my house any more often than is strictly necessary. It’s a pain in the arse and it costs loads of money.

Everyone blocking everyone at the petrol station

In Manchester, and I'm charging my car. It's an Esso garage which also has some EV chargers on the forecourt.

When I got here, people were parked across the EV bays, and one of the bays had someone sitting in a diesel van in it, idling. Thankfully one left that I could use.

Now someone in a Porsche Macan EV has turned up and is blocking a petrol pump!

Not even like there isn't space in the regular car park bit either. But that would be like 10m further to walk.

I thought people were supposed to be nice up here!
