DISCUSSION Tips for a new creator that doesn't consume? [Discussion]

I dont like asmr, I dont get it, but after a series of events I've been told I have a talent for it, however that's a single person's opinion so basically I wanna know the dos and don'ts of starting as an asmr creator voice actor whatever its called.

I've so far come up with triggers just based on stuff I have around my room, like my little cleaning brushes for electronics, microfiber cloths, different textures just with my hands whcih are kinda dry and raspy (usually a bad thing btu apparently good for capturing the sound of textures).

If you're curious, it started as a joke, a friend likes asmr but never heard my WhatsApp audio messages, so when she told me she liked asmr I started sending whispery audio msgs and it just kinda evolved cuz idk its kinda fun.

I dont need to know about equipment I already have a good mic from just life and using skype and discord and stuff.

DISCUSSION You don't need fancy equipment to create amazing ASMR [Discussion]

One of the best things about ASMR is that the simplest sounds can be the most satisfying! From crunchy textures and gentle squishing sounds to quiet everyday activities, you don't need an expensive setup to create something people genuinely enjoy. Sometimes, all it takes is a little creativity and attention to detail.

Have you ever thought about starting your own ASMR channel, or do you already make your own videos? What sounds give you the biggest tingles, and what advice would you give to someone just getting started? Let's share ideas and discover new ways to relax!

DISCUSSION ASMR doesn't need expensive equipment or a crazy setting to be genuinely relaxing [discussion]

I think ASMR creators sometimes put too much pressure on themselves to come up with elaborate concepts or buy expensive microphones when the actual trigger is what makes people stay.

Binaural audio can be incredible, and unusual settings like forests or outdoor locations can make a video memorable. But neither one automatically makes an ASMR video relaxing. If the sounds are unpleasant, the pacing feels forced, or the creator seems more focused on the concept than the experience, all the production value in the world won't fix it.

Some of my favorite ASMR ideas are the simplest ones: brushing, organizing objects, quiet personal attention, or someone carefully doing an ordinary task. There's something satisfying about watching a person focus on what they're doing without constantly trying to manufacture a viral moment.

I also think new creators shouldn't be discouraged just because their niche seems unusual or there's already a lot of competition. A distinctive trigger can find its audience when it's presented thoughtfully and consistently.

I'd rather watch a creator make an ordinary activity feel incredibly satisfying than see an elaborate setup that feels like it's trying too hard.

What do you think matters most in ASMR: the quality of the audio, the trigger itself, the creator's presence, or the overall atmosphere?

DISCUSSION The most relaxing ASMR videos are sometimes the ones that feel completely ordinary [discussion]

I've noticed that some of the ASMR videos I enjoy most aren't necessarily the ones with elaborate setups or complicated triggers. Sometimes it's just someone folding paper, organizing small objects, writing in a notebook, or doing a simple task at a comfortable pace.

There's something relaxing about the combination of gentle sounds and watching someone focus on what they're doing without rushing. It feels less like a performance and more like quietly sitting beside someone while they go about their day.

I also find that natural, slightly imperfect sounds can be more satisfying than recordings that feel overly polished. Little variations in rhythm and texture make the experience feel more genuine.

For those who watch ASMR regularly, what ordinary activity gives you the strongest tingles or helps you unwind the most? I'm always interested in discovering triggers that don't get talked about as much.

REQUEST Cooking/Baking ASMR without the eating/chewing noises? [Request]

I really love occasionally sitting down and listening to cooking ASMR to wind down, especially after a long day. However, I have really bad misophonia, and one of the sounds that triggers me/makes me the most uncomfortable is the sound of people eating/chewing.

Unfortunately, cooking videos are almost guaranteed to have the chewing sounds be pretty exaggerated (i mean, fair enough). But it's hard for me to relax/enjoy a video when I have to skip through massive sections constantly to not hear the eating noises.

So I was wondering if anyone knew of any creators, preferably on Youtube who just have the cooking sounds with little to none of the actual eating sounds. Thanks!!

DISCUSSION New Low Quality AMSR Channel [Discussion]

MootyASMR - YouTube

That is my youtube channel, I make not so great quality asmr videos using my dusty old laptop camera and microphone. I have done a few different types of videos so far, a few with brushes and a few with me tapping and scratching random things. I'm quite new to this and would like more people to see my stuff and give me feedback. This is just a shameless self promo.
