Question for all races: if you have experienced someone being racist toward you whether that be verbally or physically, what do you believe the reason was for?

Wondering if people are openly drinking a beer at work lunches, and if anybody has a corporate environment that openly supports moderate cannabis consumption (in rec legal jurisdictions)?

Mine was in 8th grade, I talked during a fire drill and got written up by I think my social studies teacher. School VP who was no younger than 80 and definitely the type of lady to give out raisins and apples on Halloween, she gave me a full day of ISS because it was a “safety hazard”. My basketball coach had a policy where if you got ISS for any reason you were automatically benched from the next 3 games, no exceptions. Definitely resented school after that.

People making $50k to $60k used to be able to pay rent, eat well, and build a decent emergency fund. Today, between taxes, inflated groceries, skyrocketing rent, and basic utilities, that income leaves almost zero buffer for unexpected expenses. What is the new realistic "baseline salary" for actual financial peace of mind?

They claim “parental rights” are for the safety of children yet look at what happens when the religious “think” their kids are gay like 8 year old Gabriel Fernandez parents did, they gleefully TORTURED him for MONTHS and murdered him and the same Republicans/ Religious who not only push for this but go out of their way to harass these same kids in schools that already have it hard at home! Instead of involving the police, many of these churches cover up the abuse towards children and are even trying to legally fight to keep pedo confessing to abusing children private! So disgusting! Look up all the legislation they are passing that negatively affects CHILDREN specifically, they even demonize giving kids free school lunches while they put their hundred bills in their church hat they pass around that ends up in these pedo religious leaders pockets. Look into the many people who needed help and have spoken up that were refused help at these religious “shelters” because they wouldn’t join their cult and most are empty yet still receiving hand outs including from our government aka our money that should be going to actual social services that help ALL! Same with adoption centers, most are religious and only allow religious people to adopt them yet claim no one but religious people adopt kids. Why do we as a society keep allowing this smugness and normalization of Republican/Religious ADULTS harassing and abusing CHILDREN and not only that, letting them cover up CHILD abuse while they claim to “care about children”.

I’m thinking about starting trade school in 2027. I want a mentally stimulating job that also pays well. I have absolutely no previous experience with the trades. I’m 26 and need to make some life choices.

I see New Mexico as one of the states with the highest poverty rates, but then I see pictures of New Mexico and suspect it might feel worth it for the scenery. Being poor in Jackson, Mississippi must be much worse than being poor in Albuquerque, for example. (And at least it’s warm in Mississippi. West Virginia is cold and poor.)

I, 20F in the usa want to visit a friend who lives about 4 miles from me. I do not have a car and nor does she but i have not seen her in a long time so i really want to this time. We plan to hang out at night so I was thinking of walking to her house at night. My parents have my location on my phone too but I would be walking alone to her house but it is only 4 miles so if by the 0.000000% chance someone wants to harm me i'll be at her house by then. I hear horror stories online about woman walking alone but those are really rare, but I do want to know people thoughts.

In school whenever we wanted to know about a certain topic we would have to go to the library and look it up in the encyclopedia. Even when the internet was still in its nascent days, my dad bought the Britannica encyclopedia for our house, the cool thing was when Brittanica created a CD you could run on your computer to digitally look up things.

Something normal stuff we used to do before the rich kids ruined it!

27f here just found out my fiancé doesn’t find me funny. He just said it with such confidence… “tbh I don’t find you funny most of the time, but you’re really pretty and a good mom”. We weren’t arguing, or anything. Things have been tense lately, but I mean… we have a one yr old and I don’t get a whole of me time. We’ve also been talking, communicating and actively trying to improve so I feel like this is coming out of no where.

Specially since he use to find me quite funny before our daughter. Apparently something changed and now suddenly he doesn’t find me fun to be around or funny. But hey, at least I’m attractive and a good mom? So weird and I ended up going to my brothers with our daughter for a night.

What do yall think? Am I being too sensitive?

Be honest

I've always had a bedroom TV and am considerate about shutting it off early on weeknights. It doesn't affect our love life but I have friends who are adamant about the no-TV-in-the-bedroom rule.

Why do I have to choose? Why are they both not options?

Girlfriend says I play my PS5 too often. However, I feel there’s a stigma on me because I’m playing my PS5 but she watches TV just as much as I play video games.
