QUESTION Mid November Trip

Hey!

Couple of my friends and I are planning to visit Whistler and Squamish (or anything in between) from Ontario for a week from Nov 18th to 25th.

We love hiking and I was looking for suggestions for any hikes that we can do at that time.

Any other suggestions for things to do is also much appreciated!

Thanks

QUESTION Rentals

We are going as family of 5 this coming January (2027) and we all need skis and snowboards, boots, helmets and poles. Any good option for renting other than the one by the gondolas? Also since we are staying a few minutes away, are there lockers by the gondolas that I can rent so I don't have to carry all the skis and poles for the family?

Anyone else attending the Western Trauma Association Conference (Feb 2027) at Whistler?

Hello, I was hoping to connect with some other folks going to the Western Trauma Association Conference (Feb 21 to 26, 2027). It would be good to have some folks to explore Whistler, as well as have as people to "know" at the conference.

Trails end of march

Me and my wife want to go to Canada for the first time from Europe and we want to go to Vancouver and Whistler to walk the trails and see the lakes. We don't ski. We were thinking of going end of march/beginning of April. What are the conditions typical like then? Is it still easy to walk around and do the trails? We basically want to see the beautiful nature.

The other time we were thinking of going was end of August.

I plan to bring the wife to Scandinave Spa for her birthday. Is it worth to go during December since the outdoor weather might not be that nice?

QUESTION Vail employee housing

Looking for advice on how likely getting staff housing with Vail is now?

I have applied for accommodation and am waiting for a response, the role is in the mountain operations team.

I’ve read through previous posts and looks like mountain operations tend to get accomodation but not until dec, is this true? Should I book a place to stay in the meantime? Should it be near Whistler village?

Thanks in advance!

QUESTION Will the lifts open and close an hour later now without daylight savings time?

Daylight is obviously in short supply for a good chunk of the ski season and now without daylight savings time the sun will rise and set an hour later. Surely this will impact the lift operating times to some extent as I can't imagine them sending people up the gondola in the dark. Anyone have any inside information on this? Or perhaps something has already been announced that I missed?

Monthly Parking

Hypothetically speaking, if you could pick any monthly parking lot in Whistler, reserved or unreserved, and cost/availability was not an issue, which lot would it be and why?

With permanent DST, what time do you think the mountain will be open? And will it be shifted forward towards the end of the season, defeating the point of permanent DST?

Impark

My wife is handicapped. We have a handicap permit and wherever we are in the province, we have been able to park for free. This week, had a medical appointment at the Medical Center here on Lorimer Road, prked in a designated handicap spot with displayed permit. Received a $90 Impark ticket. I contacted customer service. They said it may be a practice everywhere else BUT not for them and pay the $90...Its hard enough navigating with someone who is physically challenged.

Longhorn Salon - Best Time

I’m planning a big group apres, what is the best start time and table type to book? I am guessing patio is more fun than inside. For the time, I see there is a night seating after apres which also seems like a party, but would guess apres is the best? Is it better to get to the apres later (like 3:30) so you can get a taste of both?

Astra Lumina in Whistler

I see that Astra Lumina is coming to Stanley Park in Vancouver for the first time starting in late October. Reviews out of Seattle are mixed, and I was wondering what the Whistler event was like. One of my concerns is that it’s put on by Fever, who don’t have the greatest reputation as event promoters. Thanks in advance for any comments.
