Anyone else actually impressed with the new Siri on iOS 27.2?

Just updated to 27.2 and I've been poking at the new Siri properly for a couple of hours now. Honestly, it's been really smooth so far. No glitches, no "sorry, I didn't catch that" nonsense. I've been throwing some properly awkward questions at it, trying to trip it up, and it hasn't put a foot wrong yet. Not once.
Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but it already feels a bit mad to me compared to what Siri used to be.
Not saying it's the best assistant out there, because it isn't, but for something that lives on your phone and actually does stuff for you, I reckon it's good enough. Hopefully Apple keeps heading this way and gives it a bit more freedom and power.
What I don't get is why there's so much moaning about it at the moment. Is it just me having a good experience, or are there bugs I haven't run into yet? Could it be a region thing, or certain devices?
So how's it going for everyone else? And if you're not happy with it, what's actually missing for you? Curious what people are hitting that I'm not.

I built Siri voice voting into a road trip app so the driver never touches the screen. What else would you want Siri to do in the car?

I've been building Roadpack, an iPhone app for road trips where your group is spread across a few cars. When someone wants to stop for coffee, fuel or food, every car gets a vote.

The thing I really wanted was for the driver to never have to touch the phone. So Siri reads the vote out loud and you just say "yes" or "skip". You can also ask Siri to request a stop. On CarPlay it's one question with a big Yes and Skip button, so a passenger can tap it.

To be upfront: Siri handles votes and stop requests, not navigation (you'd still use Apple Maps or Google Maps alongside it), and it needs cell signal to reach the other cars.

Everything you need on the road (live map, ETAs, stop votes, Siri, CarPlay) is free. Pro is for extras like a bigger shared album and an illustrated trip journal.

Curious what people who use Siri in the car think:

How long is too long for Siri to read something out while you're driving?

What would you want Siri to handle for a group in several cars that it can't do today?

Am I missing something?

Hey folks!

I come to you not with a compliant but genuine confusion. Am I the only one that thinks Siri still sucks? Every time I ask it something, it either responds incorrectly, not at all, or with pointless information. The majority of the time, she says “I can’t help with that” or something to that effect. Am I using it wrong? The app is garbage, and the responses are worse! Gemini is amazing, Muse is insane… what am I missing here?!

Thanks all

Siri adds items to shopping list multiple times

When using Siri to add items to my shopping list, it will always add each item 3–4 times. This is Siri AI on 27.2, any idea how to resolve?

The new Siri app in macOS 27 can't be simpler than this

I just tried the new Siri app from Apple and here 's the UI, very basic and plain. And it complains about no internet all the time, and the answers are not that great.

Please help meeeee

Thought I was crazy but then read here. Siri’s gone from dumber than Clippy (RIP) to making me wonder why I spent my money at all.

Siri unbearable

I’m fucking frustrated. I cannot stand it anymore iOS 27 is by far the worst update ever nothing useful Apple Intelligence takes 16 GB from my phone and I cannot use it because I’m fromEurope. After iOS 27 update now I cannot skip songs to in a row. I need to say Siri every time when I want to change songs and this morning after 27.2 I cannot turn off alarms or ask for time without unlocking my phone, what kind of moronic idiot came up with this? Do they feel smart or dumb when they get this on their phone or they are using some other settings because if that’s normal for them I cannot believe who is running this company, and don’t even bother answering me these common stupid answers. It’s about security.

AI Siri doesn’t work with Reminders

iOS27.2, iPhone 17 Pro Max

“Hey Siri, add eggs to ny groceries list”

Siri says it can’t find a groceries list. There definitely is one.

Allowing Siri to add a new groceries list doesn’t help because after adding that first item, Siri can’t find the list. It will just keep adding more and more groceries lists.

(Works find on older devices like Series 7 watch and M1 iPad Pro)

Is it just me?

_UPDATE_

The issue seems to be that protecting Reminders app with FaceID makes Siri lose its mind. So for anyone else experiencing this, disable requiring FaceID to open Reminders.

Misbehaving!?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When I press and hold the power button to activate Siri, it opens as text rather than a speaking bubble; I know this is common. When I press the mic button to speak, the microphone does not activate or begin listening, so I must say "hey, Siri" before it starts. I cannot recall exactly, but this seems new; in earlier versions, pressing the mic button alone started listening. This issue occurs only on my iPad, not on my iPhone.

In screen recording, I turn off the mic so Siri can use it; initially I tried with the mic on. U can see the orange dot for when the mic activates.

Found fix:

Settings->siri->accessibility settings-> top button -> voice

i don’t know if this setting was their or not.

My first mac - my first Siri experience

Yesterday my son and I were talking about AI. He mentioned Siri on his phone and asked if I'd tried it on my new Mac. I had seen that it installed but had not tried yet.

So I said, "Hey Siri, are you listening?"

A reply pops up on the screen:

"No. You have not enabled your privacy settings."

Siri Mail Access RESOLVED

I'm not sure if anyone is interested or has the same issue as i did. So here's a short overview just in case this helps.

Previously. My Siri could not access any emails from any of my 4 email accounts I have on iPad or iPhone.

I installed 27.2. No change. Same issue.

So I started a very long conversation with Google AI which I will not bore you with. Over an hour it got me to try MANY things, none worked. But it was thorough and I understood the reasoning.

It did ask me to sign out of my apple account and back in. I said "hell no, I'll lose all my credit cards". It said good point and went off at another tangent. 😂

So what worked.

The simple answer is

  • Deleting Apple Mail.
  • Hard resetting the phone.
  • Reinstalling Mail.
  • Going into Mail settings and turning mail back on for each account.
  • Letting Siri reindex.
  • Sending a test mail. Opening it.

Before my iPhone Siri could not access any email information at all.

Hope this helps someone in the same boat. (Now I just need to do all this again on my iPad. Tomorrow).

New Siri AI

"Hey Siri, do I have any new voicemails."

"I can't help with that but would you like to hear your new voicemails?"

"Hey Siri what time is it in London right now"

<other phone on the other side of the room> "It is 1:50PM in London right now."

Soooooo, the "new" and "AI" is no better than the old mess, right?

Saludos.

27.2 time out for when you stop speaking is far too short

If you’re talking to Siri in the app and you pause for breath before you finish your point, it now instantly stops and starts working on the original input.

There is no gap like there was in the previous release. It’s really annoying!

Voice Guidance

This used to be a feature a few iOS versions back, it was removed somewhere around iOS 17/18. My car doesn’t have a touch screen, so finding the voice option with the knob takes an annoyingly long time.

Merci
