[PC] Best games where you start off weak but by the end you become really powerful?

Not gonna lie this is probably my favorite trope in gaming, and im mainly looking for this trope in an rpg.I absolutely love when you start a game off and youre weak as hell, getting stomped on by every enemy. But by the end, those same enemies you can one shot. Its like revenge. I really liked torchlight 2 & Cyberpunk, but what games perfected this to a science?

[PS5] Baldurs gate 3 on ps5

• Upvotes

Right so… I’ve been eyeing Baldurs gate 3 for a while now and it was on sale on the last sale but never picked it up but I’m really eager for a rpg, but I’ve never experienced a crpg fully even though I have played like 8 hours of divinity original sin 2 but fell off it as I think I began playing control and it hooked me. I’ve seen people say divinity 2 is a lot more demanding than BG3 but it doesn’t have any of the dice rolling and D&D mechanics, are these confusing to understand? I’m just looking for a great story to invest in and have an enjoyable time with meaningful choices that impact my character, companions and clearly change the world around me and story going forward? Also I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wanna play this after that divinity reveal that got me so pumped and really wanted to go all hands on deck with a larian game

Only rpgs I’ve really played are:

Witcher 3 (plan on doing a new playthrough with the new update but want something fresh right)

Cyberpunk (same with Witcher 3 after the edgerunners 2 update)

Expedition 33

Kcd2 (never finished it as I was waiting for all the dlc to release but do plan on revisiting)

Elden ring if you wanna class it as that 🤷‍♂️

Final fantasy 7 remake and I will do rebirth before revelation releases

Outer worlds

Persona 5 royal

If you don’t think bg3 suits my taste can recommend me some that you think please?

[PS5] Smalland

I never heard of this game before I saw the sequel listed on psn. It looks interesting, like Grounded but without the shrinking

I’m looking for a solid world and story, maybe some sandbox elements. Maybe an rpg. Lots of secrets to find and unlock, unique bosses. I want a game that captures the tiny world style of Grounded without being a clone or a knockoff. Ya know, something that’ll scratch that itch while at the same time offering me something new

REANIMAL or End of Abyss – Which one should I get?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to decide between two horror games right now: REANIMAL and End of Abyss.

I know they both have that creepy, dark Little Nightmares art style since they're made by Tarsier / ex-Tarsier devs, but the gameplay looks completely different. One is a cinematic co-op platformer and the other is a top-down action Metroidvania.

For anyone who has played them: which one did you prefer? Is the atmosphere in REANIMAL way better, or does the exploration and challenge in End of Abyss make it more worth it?

[PC] WSIB games like DRG:Survivor and Soulstone Surviviors

I am looking for other games to give me the feeling like DRG and Soulstone Survivors. I have tried a few but none have given me the same feeling or long term interest as these 2. I have 100+ hours in each but the others I tend to drop after 10-15.

Others I have tried but lost interest:

  1. Yet another zombies surviviors: Something about this one felt lackluster after about 20 hours. I felt like the upgrades didnt feel meaningful and was just a bit bland

  2. Conquest Dark: I enjoyed this but after around mid to late game I kind of just lost the plot. I all of a sudden became confused at what I shouls focus on primarily. And it feels like a bit of a chore to unluck stuff for each character since you gotta upgrade everything individually.

3.Megabonk - This was fun and to be honest I dont recall why I stopped this one. Maybe it just felt like another rougelite with nothing new besides the 3rd person view.

  1. Vampire Survivors - I know I will get shit for this, but this was prob my least favorite. I cant exactly put my finger on it as to why, but I just did not like it. I like the retro look so that wasnt the case, something just didnt click.

  2. Hades - This was actually fun, no complaints, just got everything out of it I believe so there wasnt much left for me to do. I may consider buying Hades II.

  3. Halls of Torment - kind of same reason as Vampire Surviviors, didnt click with me long term the same way. Just didnt like it in general.

  4. Cult of the Lamb - loved everything about this. Considering a fresh playthrough with the DLC.

  5. Dwarven Realms - I enjoyed this quite a bit, but just dropped it for whatever reason. Prob been a year or a bit longer since I touched it

Thats about it! So any recommendations outside of those would be awesome!!

Are there new Multiplayer Ego-Shooter with slow pace like MW2?

I played lots of different shooters in the last years, the battlefields, the call of duties, even XDefiant before it was cancelled, Hero-Shooters and even the CS-Go-likes, but as much as I like these fast-paced shooters, I sometimes just open the classic CoD MW2 or Ghosts and play a few rounds (if I find a lobby)

I was just asking myself, are there multiplayer shooters with this “good old“ pacing on the market or is every MPS now fast-paced, because I just don’t want to play the newer shooters that long, because they just exhaust me at a certain point.

[PC] Is the first Aliens: Fireteam Elite worth playing solo?

So I am a huge Alien fan (Aliens is my favorite) and I’ve wanted to nab Aliens: Fireteam Elite for a while, and since it’s on sale I figured might as well. Unfortunately none of my friends want to join me so I’ll have to play solo.
I want to ask, how is the game played solo? Does it feel like a campaign or is it purely random levels?

(I was thinking of asking in the Fireteam Elite subreddit but I figured they’d be a bit biased)

[PC] Twofold question: Pathfinder WOTR vs Octopath 0 and Atomic Heart vs Blood of Dawnwalker

Probably a weird dual one but I'm looking for two good games to start the "Winter is coming" part of Fall. Specs if that helps; i5-12600k, 32 rams, RX 590 (yeah that's my bottleneck).

I tend to like games like Cyberpunk 2077, skyrim, Mass effect, sons of the forest, conan exiles/dune, BG3/Divinity, mistria/stardew, x4 foundations, FFXIV and Overwatch for reference - if that helps too.

For an RPG, both seem interesting, I kinda like a bit of self-inserting in my playthroughs so I was wondering which game had the better story/gameplay and roleplaying perspectives?

For the second game, I heard really mixed things about Atomic Heart which keeps me a bit wary and my GPU and the 30 timer thing are probably what keeps me the most away from Dawnwalker.

Thanks in advance!

Title: First time buying a gaming device – Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC? Need some advice
Hi everyone!
I’m thinking about buying my first gaming device, but I’ve never owned a gaming console or gaming PC before, so I’m not sure which option would be best for me.
A little bit about me: I live in Munich, Germany, and work in a hotel. I’ll continue working after I graduate. I don’t really have friends here or a girlfriend, so I’d like to find a fun hobby to enjoy in my free time, relax after work, and have something to look forward to.
I already have two monitors, one 23-inch and one 27-inch, so I’m considering getting a gaming PC. However, I’m also interested in the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
The problem is that I don’t even know what kind of games I would enjoy yet. I’ve never really been a gamer, so I don’t know whether I’d prefer story-driven games, open-world games, shooters, racing games, casual games, or something else. I’m hoping to find a platform that will let me explore different types of games and discover what I enjoy.
My main concerns are:
Nintendo Switch: Is it worth buying if I mainly want to play games at home? Is it a good choice for a complete beginner?
PlayStation 5 or Xbox: Which one offers better value for money, especially for someone who doesn’t know what games they like yet?
Gaming PC: Since I already have two monitors, would building or buying a gaming PC be a smarter long-term investment? Or would it be too expensive for someone who is just starting out?
I mainly want to play games for fun, relax after work, and maybe watch YouTube or movies. I’m not a competitive gamer, and I don’t need the most powerful device.
I’m also concerned about the total cost, including the device itself, games, subscriptions, and other accessories. I don’t want to spend too much money on something I might not use often, but I also don’t want to buy something too cheap and regret it later.
If you were in my situation, living in Germany and buying your first gaming device, what would you choose and why?
Would you recommend starting with a console because it’s simpler and potentially cheaper, or investing in a gaming PC because it’s more versatile and offers more options?
I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have experience with more than one platform. I’d love to hear what you would do differently if you were starting from zero today.
Thanks for reading and sharing your experience!

[PS5] Hellraiser Revival, The Mound, Or The Sinking City 2?

So playing Demo of the Mound got me back into my interest in Lovecraft so I checked out The Sinking City 2 demo and really liked that too. But theres also Hellraiser Revival which I had an eye on because I literally read the book like 3 times… I can‘t decide, everyone loves the hellraiser game but when I see it i‘m not completely thrilled? Like i‘ll probably enjoy it, especially considering that Clive Barker himself (the author of the book) worked on the game too. Yeah. What do I do? Also my friends wont play the Mound btw. I remember being realy dissapointed when the demo for the mound ended bc I wanted to continue. Oh probably important to mention: I never finished The Sinking City 1.

Perhaps If I buy one of them in some months i‘ll buy another, for example if i get sinking city 2 or the mound now perhaps i will buy hellraiser in a couple months or so. For now I only want to get one, considering GTA 6 is releasing soon and I dont want to spoon feed me multiple games

[PC] WSIB underrated games that make great use of emergent gameplay.

For those who don’t know, emergent gameplay is when the rules of the game interact with unexpected ways, and the player has to use them to solve problems. It doesn’t just mean choosing a playstyle. this video explains it better than I likely can. I find that a lot of the same games come up so I felt it was worth asking since this kind of thing is addictive to me.

[Other] Hidden gems that you love

Hi, what are hidden gems/underrated/overlooked games that you would suggest to other people to check out? Games that are not known much and often overlooked in flood of all AAA 80$ games which are often just mediocre.

Mine are:

  • Aliens: Dark Descent - awesome Aliens game which plays really comfortably on console

  • Wasteland 3 - much simpler and older Baldur's Gate 3 in post apocalyptic world

  • Pacific Drive - first person scavenging rogue lite with CAR

  • Darkest Dungeon - simple dungeon crawler

  • Snow Runner + Expeditions: A mudrunner game - imagine Death Stranding but with cars

  • Remnant 2 - 3rd person shooter souls like

  • Deep Rock Galactic - first person shooter with missions and beards, beer, rock and stone!

  • W40k Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin - RTS from W40k universe, I am surprised how well it plays on console!

  • Darkwood - I have never imagined that 2d pixel art would scare me this much in this survival horror game lol

  • Unravel and Unravel 2 - when you want chill platformer for yourself or to play with your kid

[Switch] Silver Pines or Seance at Blake Manor

Looking for a game to play over the Halloween season. Interested in both and there vibes.

Which should I get? I know that they are different, one being a 2D Survival Horror game and the other being a Detective/Puzzle Game.

I’m a big fan of both resident evil and silent hill so silver pines seems like it would be a good choice but Blake manor is a genre I don’t play a lot of so might be good to mix it up.

I’m just off the back of finishing Castlevania Belmonts Curse so slightly worried I will get burned out of two metroidvanias back to back but it seems silver pines is very much a light touch in this regard.

Thanks

[PC] Loved FFXVI as my first Final Fantasy. Will I enjoy FF7 Remake and Rebirth?

XVI was my first-ever Final Fantasy and I absolutely loved the story, the graphics and the combat. It’s what got me into the series. I haven’t played Remake, Rebirth or the original VII, so I’d be going in completely fresh. I’d be playing on PC, and I’m after a big story-driven game with great visuals to sink my time into. Would I enjoy them in the same way? Is it worth buying both, and should I go in blind? Thanks!

[PC] sandbox war game? (context below)

Okay, lately on Instagram I've been seeing a lot of games that seem to be AI-powered, like "the zombie apocalypse has started and you have to control the army to stop it" or "there's a containment breach and you have to control the creature." I also saw something that looked like an animation, I guess, made in Unreal Engine, of Halo ships fighting, or videos where they put Halo and Covenant troops together and just watch them fight. I know there are niche games for this kind of thing, but I'm thinking maybe something like Epic Battle Simulator, but better?xd. Sorry for the English and the bad explanation.

[PC] SIB Enshrouded

Ive been looking for a fantasy game to play and since ive seen enshrouded floating around as a suggestion I thought id check it out. From what ive seen looking around it seems to be crafting heavy game which im not really fond of. If it is crafting focused id hope if anyone can recommend actual fantasy adventure games. Its seems to be frustrating to look for one outside of the obvious titles

[PS5] Game like Prototype ?

Hey everyone. I’m looking for a game like Prototype. It’s a game from my childhood, and back then, I loved roaming around the city destroying everything in sight. It made you feel like an actual living god. I know the usual recommendation is inFAMOUS, which I’ve already bought, and Control Resonant looks somewhat similar as well. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks, everyone!

[PC] Story game recommendations ( 2026 )

What are the top tier narrative driven games released

THIS YEAR ?

I have CO : Expedition 33 / A Plaque Tale : Requiem / Cyberpunk 2077 expectations and not just straight “Revenge story” or “Gotta kill the bad guy” the type that’ll leave a mark and make me stare at my screen after credits roll, in tears 🥲

( also no boring gameplay )

P.s I’ve already played RE9 and Resonance A Plaque Tale Legacy. And I’ve no interest in Onimusha yet so cross these off the list.

Any cosy colony sim game recommendations?

Hey, I'm looking for a cosy colony sim to get into. Something where you build up a little settlement, manage resources, and watch your colony grow over time.

I'd prefer something more chill and relaxing rather than super stressful or punishing, but I'm open to suggestions.

Usually, most colony sims are pretty hardcore. I've tried Dwarf Fortress and RimWorld, but they both have a big learning curve. Manor Lords is probably the chillest one I've played so far.

[PC] Returning to FGC, Tekken 8 or SF6?

I am thinking about returning to FGC and taking it alot more seriously. FYI I have casual experience on T3/5/7 and SF3/4. If I could choose one to get comp into what would you recommend?

I would say that I kinda have a nostalgia for tekken in general and always preferred it over SF but with what I have heard about T8, I am not so sure. I enjoyed T7 even though T8 is widely different with the new systems everyone seems to hate.

I have mains in both games (Lee/Drag in Tekken and Ryu/Ken in SF) and equally excited to play both.

What's the current state like competitively and has a more fun long term gameplay loop? I am based down under in Australia so how's the connectivity and queue times from here?

[PC] ([PC - EPIC)) - Dead Space Remake 5 dollars, alien isolation 2

DSR is 5 dollars. On epic. I am on turkey thats why its that cheap. Due to regional. I heard alien isolation iso toolong and repetitive at some point. I do not fcarriying about 2 bucks but i don't want to waste for no reason. Is dead space remake a good game I never played the original one. Is it repetitive or too long like alien. Thanks!

[PS5] I am more interested in buying Yotei compared to Tsushima, especially since both are, in my country, at an extremly high price

This is a post I made a good while back especially on a Yotei subreddit and I'm still debating, but I can get Tsushima trough the montly subscription, but I also plan to get physical copies of both as some point! Basically they told me I can't go wrong with neither at that price but that Tsushima was, at the moment, probably worth more, and maybe still is at a lower price...

I never played Tsushima cuz of it's insane price even as a PS5 Remaster (Director's Cut) since it's around 74€ (now it's like half the price, under 37€) where I live while Yotei is around 78€ (those are the prices calulated in our money) and honestly, while hearing how amazing and how much better Tsushima is, it just doesn't look as interesting as Yotei does for some reason... Now I am also curios since I Heard that Yotei is even less helpful in the open-world aspect than Tsushima is... I know that Jin is mostly just a legend in Yotei and that they are as connected as AC games, in no way a case of TLOU2 or GowRagnarok... Problem is I rarely get expensive games and I won't get the other in a good 3 months after one purchase (first purchase I plan around December)... Any advice?

I know that people will try to persuade me "how you don't want to buy a game that's considered a masterpiece at a cheaper price, especially since it's guaranteed to run better (Resolution mode for Tsushima also supports 60fps) but idk, I feel like I'm mostly drawn in life to the weirder things, not the masterpieces and since I made the last post over 6 months ago (maybe more but I won't really try to count everything, I guess a bit after Yotei's launch) and Yotei should (did it) recieve more content, the argument "Tsushima has better story and content, Yotei barely has anything left besides the main story" still holds or they added more stuff to valide Yotei's still full-price a bit more? (Cuz it still sells where I'm from around full-price)

[PC] Is slime rancher 2 or don't starve good

I can't make a decision between these two even tho they are completely different games I feel like one is definitely going to be better in the eyes of the majority don't starve is a lot cheaper but I'm mainly worried if my PC can run slime rancher 2 while it does run the original pretty comfortably my specs are terrible for basically any modern game I have i7-8700 CPU 8gb of RAM and my GPU is Radeon RX 560 I'm not interested in a game that ends up running like a slideshow even if it is better then the alternative you can also recommend a good game that would run well if you don't like both of these options
