Possible bug Subscription ending soon, in 20 months

Turn it on when setting up the meeting, and everyone except the host waits to be admitted. The host sees who’s waiting and can admit, deny, or admit everyone at once.
Admission happens at the encryption layer, because Meet uses MLS, and people in the waiting room aren’t in the MLS group, so they don’t hold the keys to call media or chat until the host lets them in. Waiting-room display names are E2EE and decrypted on the host’s device, so the server can’t see who’s waiting.

Reply to any message and replies stay grouped under it. Messages, replies and reactions are E2EE, and so is the reply structure, so the server can’t tell who's replying to who. Chat only exists for the length of the call, with no server-side history. It’s built on IETF MIMI content over MLS.

Please keep in mind:

Stay safe,

Hi everyone,
We’ve added Categories to Proton Mail to reduce inbox noise and make important emails easier to find.
Incoming emails can now be automatically sorted into:
- Primary
- Social
- Promotions
- Newsletters
- Transactions
- Updates
Newsletters and Transactions are unique to Proton Mail, we added them to give you more granular control over your inbox.
Categories are on by default for new users. Existing users will be asked whether they want to turn Categories on, and you can choose which categories you want to see in settings.
What you can do:
- Move any email to a different category at any time (doing so will allow the model to learn from your preferred categorization)
- Control unread counts and notifications per category
- Turn off any category individually, or disable the feature entirely in settings
On mobile you can disable them in Settings → Mailbox Preferences → Categories → Disable
On web: All Settings → Messages and composing → Email Categories → Disable
You may also notice an updated inbox toolbar as part of this change.
From a privacy perspective, enabling Categories doesn’t change anything about how Proton Mail works.Your inbox remains protected by zero-access encryption, and emails you send to other Proton users (or using password protection) are end-to-end encrypted.

Try it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.

There is a lot of talk these days about getting out of the lock-in of big tech. And I agree. Except - the Proton universe is not an alternative. Yet.
One piece is missing. And it is important.
Your address book is one of the most valuable things you have. Especially if you have used years building it up and you have custom fields and comments in it.
This should now be considered sensitive data and Google can scan it and make sure all your contacts get advertising.
You can add addresses in ProtonMail, but it is very limited - an after thought. But the most glaring problem is that there is no app for Android (and iOS, I assume).
An app that connects the Android and iOS address books to an encrypted ProtonAddresses section online is boring, and nobody thinks about it.
If Proton continues to develop things by popular vote, this will never come. It is not "sexy" enough. It is boring - and seriously necessary.
It has to be on par with - or better - than the Google address book. There should be an import function so all data can be brought over easily.
Then wipe your Google Address Book clean. And stop syncing to it.
We cannot wait for years for this to happen.
Please - just do it already. There is absolutely no doubt it is needed.
Journalists, business people, moms, dads everyone needs it. But they will never think about voting for it.
My background is from tv. And there is one thing we know. Making programs by asking people what they want to see, gives you mediocre tv - at best.
Do you have any ideas about what can be done to reach the right people at Proton so we can get a dialogue about this?

I noticed I have to click the three dots to see the message I am replying too....can I set this to show as default?!?
Honestly the more I use proton mail the more I wonder if either they have never used it and are clueless or I use email wrong because why would you not want to see the mail you are responding to?!?!
Compared to outlook, the email layout is really poor and is making it difficult to work with.
Anyway is there a setting to show the previous messages by default ??

I recently swapped over to Proton from Google and have been mostly pleased with the experience.
I've also just spun up a sole proprietor biz with no near term plans to have staff. Is there a good reason to pay twice to separate personal from biz? Or does Proton handle this cleanly via separate addresses and domains e.g. all emails sent to:
- quotes@biz go to a quote folder,
- me@personal go to main,
- hi@biz goes to the biz intake
It sounds clean and functional, but ideally looking for experience from someone who has done this before.

Hi, I’m new to Proton mail and paid for the DUO account. I am splitting it with my partner and have created several email addresses under my half. How do I split the addresses for my account into different email inboxes in order to organize work emails vs personal and so on? Right now I have three email addresses and all emails to any go to the same inbox.

How is it that I as an unlimited customer get the same level of service as a freebie user?

I received a mail to my hide-my-email alias address. I have now replied to that mail, directly through the mail I received, but in the sender information, it says I replied to the mail from my original email address, not from the alias address, as it should do.
How? Why?

Have been dealing with my email being undelivered to staff of New York City school system. Apparently they’ve banned the use of Proton across the entire domain and have yet to confirm a reason.
edit: will attempt using pm.me domain as a workaround

Hey guys, new to Proton here.
I am slowly shifting all my personal data from Gmail to Proton Mail, and honestly, the app is great. But I had a quick doubt about how the encryption actually works behind the scenes.
I was reading some articles and realized that while our email bodies and attachments are fully encrypted, the subject lines are still visible because of standard SMTP,IMAP protocols.
Since the Proton team added so many new things, it made me wonder about the core email security.
I know that doing full encrypt for subjects across different email providers (like send to Gmail) is headache. But can't they do some custom workaround at least for Proton-to-Proton emails?
Like maybe hiding the real subject inside the encrypted body payload, and just sending some random generic text in the actual header?
I am not a cryptography expert, just a curious tech noob trying to understand the system better. Would love to hear from the tech geniuses here.
Is this structurally possible for them to build in the future, or am I missing something basic?
Thanks in advance.

These persistent upselling strategies using color psychology, FOMO and other shady tactics are unethical, and I would expect proton not to use these. What do you guys think?

The linked post is 5 years old. I found it today after trying different things to make the shortcuts work: different browsers, private mode, no extensions, different OS. A 5-year-old post still containing the "solution".
Shortcuts like G I for Go to Inbox just don't work unless you click the email frame first. That is ridiculous - and it has been like this for more than 5 years.
Please, please, fix it.

What does everyone think about this:
Having a dropdown menu on the booking page where guests can actually pick why they are requesting the meeting?
I'm adding a booking link to my email signature and I already have several booking pages organized by project. For my consulting company however, it would be SUPER helpful to be able to include a list of topics they can choose as the purpose of the meeting.
Another minor thing is being able to respond to the booking confirmation by sending them an email. Maybe its a [Confirm Their Attendance] button on the booking email that opens up a compose message that automatically populates their email address.
Would love to hear from others if they think this would be valuable. I know its super minor and low urgency but I think it would be a great value add to Proton Meet and the overall ecosystem.

For years, Google promised it wouldn’t use your emails, files, and photos to profile you for ad targeting. This month they gave themselves a way out of that promise.
On October 16, Google changed a sentence in its privacy policy that said your Gmail, Drive, and Photos content would not shape the ads you see. The sentence now has an exception spotted by Android Authority: If you connect those apps to Google’s Personal Intelligence features, that data can inform ads in Search.

If you’ve never connected your Google apps to Personal Intelligence, then nothing changes for you. But if you turn it on, then Google will turn your most private information into fodder for ads. For better privacy, you can disconnect the ad machine from Gmail or disconnect personalization entirely, or switch to privacy-first services.
We show you how in our most-recent blogpost: https://proton.me/blog/gmail-ads

As per title, it would be nice if we had the option to view attachments in received and out-going email as list (either sorted in alphabetical or size order), rather than the current unsorted rectangle shaped boxes

I now have everything being forwarded to a deleted Proton account.
I’ve emailed Duck to see if they can change the forwarding address.
And I also emailed Proton to see if they can reactivate the account (it was deleted less than 24 hours ago).
Really wish there was someone to contact in these emergency situations.

There are always certain features on Proton memberships that we want but some that we probably won’t even touch at all, having to pay an extra for features that one won’t use feels a little like Microsoft 365 not gonna lie, so what if you could have a “Lite“ membership (individual app memberships only) that allowed you to select the features that you want in your Lite membership for a fraction of the full price? (Price depends on how heavy a feature is.) That way you can have a membership that actually fits what you want for less.

So - I signed up for VPN about a year ago. Subscription ends in 24 days. I was considering to renew my VPN.
Is VPN Plus the only paid VPN offering? I have Bitwarden and don’t need the password manager. Honestly didn’t even know I had it for the year.
I am trying to renew and it is difficult to see pricing for VPN Plus. I can reactivate, but want to see pricing first. So, I go here: https://protonvpn.com/pricing (found searching Google) but when I go to renew using the 24 month link my pricing changes from what’s posted.
I am about to just switch to another VPN with more transparent pricing, but what should pricing and package options be?
Thx

So I ran out of Gmails I can attach to my phone number. Went searching for an alternative to Gmail so I can compartmentalize my emails. This landed me to Proton. The Proton Unlimited says 15 email addresses. Doesn't really explain how that works. Do I just make a free Proton email when i want to use one of the 15?
Update:
Figured out the whole additional addresses thing. However emails sent to the additional addresses go into the same inbox which is not what I was looking for. I like to compartmentalize my emails with their own unique email and inbox (Personal email, Banking email , Home Utilities email, etc)
Update 2:
I'm going to try this for a month. Switch the emails for some things over to Proton emails, some using alias's. I've got a feeling I'm not going to be staying because I don't like having emails from everything in one inbox. If you have any tips let me know!
