Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

Best phone to switch to from iPhone?

Hello guys, I’ve used iPhones my entire life, but I want to try something new. My current phone is an iPhone 11 Pro Max and it does the job fine, but I find myself wanting something different. Mine is jailbroken and has tweaks for customisation, stopping ads for various apps and etc… I don’t know if that’s a thing on android, but if there’s a particular model where something similar is possible that would be a huge bonus. My main criterias are:
1.Good battery-I need something that will last me the whole day. I have to charge my iPhone twice a day but I use it a lot.
2. Good camera-No need to explain this one, I need to take good photos.
3. Nice design-I want something that feels premium like the iPhone. Large screen is mandatory too.
4. Good software-I don’t need the fastest model or anything like that, but I hate buggy/laggy phones. Although my iPhone is quite slow, it still doesn’t feel laggy and it’s smooth.
I’m considering buying the Samsung s23 ultra with 12gb ram, but I haven’t really looked into other models.
I’m going to buy the phone second hand so my budget is around 500€. Thanks.

My brother thinks I made a mistake choosing phone.

My brother thinks I made a massive mistake buying a Poco phone ( poco x8 pro). He argues that at that price point, I should’ve gone for a more reputable brand like OnePlus, Samsung, Google (Pixel 9a), or Motorola. What do you guys think?"

Heyo!

I need a new phone and trying to decide between Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. I'd appreciate some advice from ppl who have used either of these phones.

Main priorities are camera amd everyday usability/UI (care a lot about how pleasant a phone feels to use).

Thanks in advance!

Base S25 vs. OnePlus 13

Although I'm kinda torn between these two, I'm kinda leaning more towards the OP13 considering the bigger battery and the difference in charging speeds (I'm currently using an S21 FE and battery drain is my biggest complaint), but considering the fact that OnePlus is ceasing operations in western countries makes me worried about the availability (or unavailability, lol) of spare parts in the future. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on this before I pull the trigger.

New Phone With OneUI-Like Customization

Looking to get a new phone after breaking my Galaxy Z Flip 7. I've been considering a LOT of options (Moto G Stylus, Galaxy S24, Pixel 8a/9a, RedMagic 11 Air, and more), however, I've been drawn to Samsung due to GoodLock letting me basically have a fully custom UI setup. Are there any options out there which'll let me do what I want, or am I stuck with Samsung? Currently my budget is $500 or less, and I'm more than fine with getting an older flagship or midrange option over a newer budget device. I also have a preference for smaller screens, but I understand that sort of thing is going to the wayside nowadays.

Mexico Looking for a phone with good camara

• Upvotes

Hi everyone

I'm a 23-year-old guy from Mexico. I've been using a POCO X4 Pro since 2022, and I've really enjoyed it. Back then, gaming was one of my priorities, so it was a great choice for me.

Nowadays, my main priority is the camera. I don't game as much anymore, but I still want a phone that feels fast and reliable for several years.

My budget is around $500 USD. Since I usually keep my phones for many years, I'd like something that will age well and remain reliable for a long time.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

Pls avoid iPhones, even if they are second-hand.

Thanks for your time, and greetings from Mexico!

Samsung Galaxy A56 vs Redmi Turbo 5: Which is the better buy?

I'm really confused between the Samsung Galaxy A56 and Redmi Turbo 5.

Initially, I was considering the Samsung A56, but due to concerns about Samsung's green line display issue, I decided to go with the Redmi Turbo 5 and placed an order for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant at ₹34,500.

Now I'm wondering whether I made the right decision.

My main priorities are:

1. Performance: Which phone will perform better and remain smooth for the next 3–4 years?

2. Display: Which has the better display, and should I be worried about green line issues on either phone?

3. Software and reliability: Which phone offers a better overall experience with fewer issues in the long run?

I know Samsung has One UI and a good software update policy, but the Redmi Turbo 5 seems to offer better hardware for the price.

France Durable phone under €600 with good multitasking, battery life and camera (EU)

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a new phone and would appreciate some recommendations! Here are the main points, but I will go into more details of my usage afterwards.

Budget: €500–600. I'm starting to compare options now and plan to track prices until Black Friday. Open to reconditioned phones

Location: France / Portugal.

What I'm looking for:

• Good multitasking performance, including split-screen and floating windows

• Good battery life and wireless charging

• A good camera, especially in terms of image processing

• At least 256 GB of storage

• Good durability and water resistance

I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy A52, which is starting to show its age. Overall, I've really liked this phone, it's held up pretty well over the years, and I love its size. I'd prefer something around the same size or slightly smaller.

I tend to keep my phones for as long as possible, but I'm also quite rough on them. They need to survive frequent drops and occasional exposure to water. I like the Samsung Z Flip phones, but I'm worried they might not hold up well with my usage.

Although Pokémon GO is probably the most demanding app I use, I often use several apps simultaneously. For example, in my current phone, if I'm playing Pokémon GO while listening to Spotify and try to reply to a WhatsApp message in a floating window, one of the other apps will close.

I'd like a phone that handles this kind of multitasking smoothly, without apps constantly closing or the phone overheating.

I like taking pictures and would really appreciate a good camera. From the photos I've seen from friends, I like the image processing of phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and iPhones. I'm not necessarily looking for the absolute best camera on the market, but I'd like consistently good photos without having to do much editing.

I also travel quite a lot and regularly watch shows on my phone. I don't pay enough attention to have the screen and refresh ratio being super important, but battery life is a major factor. Ideally, I'd like a phone that comfortably lasts a full day of heavy use. Fast charging would also be a big plus.

Other features I would like but not deal-breakers:

• A magnetic system similar to MagSafe to hold onto a power bank or a tripod

• The ability to play different audio through the phone and Android Auto simultaneously

• Double-tap to wake the screen

• Around 6.5". I personally find the Samsung Ultras too big.

I was interested in the OnePlus 15, but from what I understood they are leaving the european market. A friend bought one in Korea and is now selling it, but I'm unsure how the warranty would work if something went wrong. Does anyone have experience in these situations?

What would you recommend based on my usage?

Thanks!

us My mum’s camera roll keeps growing. My budget doesn’t. What phone should I get her?

My mum’s old OnePlus is constantly running out of storage. She loves taking photos, so every clear-out buys us about one outing lol. I’m working with a fairly limited budget, so I’m trying to get her the most storage and the best camera I can for the money.

A friend suggested the realme 16 Pro. 512GB would give her plenty more room, and the 200MP camera with OIS sounds good on paper. But how does it do indoors or when people won’t stand still? She’s very much an “open camera, tap, done” person. No messing with settings.

The 7000mAh battery is a nice bonus. At around 192g, it doesn’t sound too heavy, though a case will add a bit. Hopefully the switch from OnePlus wouldn’t take too much getting used to either.

Is it a solid buy for her, or would the same money get her better photos and similar storage elsewhere?

EU Decent specs, 3.5mm jack, not huge, no glass back - does it exist? (EU, ~700€ budget)

Hi. My Asus Zenfone 8 is on its last legs. Back glass is on its 4th replacement and cracked (no I don't want to use a case), wifi hasn't worked in a year, battery life is shit even after 3rd party replacement, and I can't deal with just 128GB anymore.

My ideal phone would be small, have a 3.5mm headphone jack, no fragile glass on the back, flagship specs and have expandable storage. I know no such phone exists anymore, so what's the best compromise I can find?

I'm currently debating between the Asus Zenfone 10 and Sony Xperia 10 VIII.

Pros of the ZF10: flagship specs (from 2023), smaller

Cons of the ZF10: no longer in production, prices are still surprisingly high on used market and used examples might have a degraded battery, no more updates, no expandable storage (although a 512GB option exists)

Pros of the X10VIII: available to buy new, will get more updates, slightly better battery life from new, microSD support

Cons of the X10VIII: no performance upgrade from my current 2021 phone, slightly bigger than i'd like

Would you choose one of these 2, or do you know of another model that fits my requirements? Thanks.

Oneplus 15R or samsung S25

Both these phones are almost around same price nowadays, From the reviews it looks like oneplus camera is week and samsung battery, Now which one to choose. Expectations atleast works 4-5 years, don't get lag, even after 4 years, Capture natural colours, not saturated.

Best camera for moving subjects

I've been on a mix of Samsung phones (eg the S23U, S26U) and Pixel phones for the last 5+ years now and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. I'm currently using an S26U.

However due to recent events (having a baby), I've noticed that baby photos from family members who use iPhones are generally better. We have a family chat where people share their photos in, and iPhone photos just seem to be consistently good.

I already have an iPad and Airpods, so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the Apple ecosystem. However I absolutely hate the iOS keyboard which is probably why I've been on Android so long.

Every other aspect of Android I could easily give up, but the keyboard is tough...but I might consider it if it will result in generally better photos.

Does anyone have any camera reviews they can point me to which are specifically of moving subjects such as kids and pets? Cameras are so good now that in ideal conditions, I think most of them look great. It's conditions such as low light and moving subjects together which I'm interested in.

The only review I can find is this one comparing the 18 Pro, S26U and Pixel 11 Pro

Advice for a durable phone under 20k🙂🙏

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi. So so I'm planning on buying a phone as the old one isn't working as well. It's a 6 and a half year old OPPO A5 2020 and I have been very happy with it till now. Except that for the past year or two the battery has been really terrible. So can you guys please suggest me a good affordability phone within 20k, preferably closer to 15k tbh. That is just my budget as a student. And I just want it to work without hang n all for the next 3-4 years, with a good battery. Basically durable ig. And also if I am lucky, and there's a phone in that budget range which also has good camera qualified for portraits (I don't take selfies), that will be helpful as well. Thank you:)

(I live in India. Forgot to add the country in title)

India Is the OPPO Find X9 Ultra worth it for optical zoom in India

Looking for a phone with really good optical zoom in India. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra caught my attention, especially for its camera setup, but I'm not sure if it's worth going for over other camera flagships.

My main priority is zoom photography, taking shots of distant subjects, wildlife, buildings and concerts without losing too much detail. Low-light photos and overall camera consistency matter too. For anyone who's used it or compared it with other flagship phones, how good is the zoom in use? Are the results noticeably better, or do other phones offer a similar experience?

Also, any alternatives worth considering in India?

UK Best Android for filming reels and general video?

What's the best android out there for filming reels and vertical content? I'd be using a lot of the selfie camera so I'd need something with really sharp and good quality there, with good brightness. But also the back camera for general filming.

I know Oppo has excellent camera/vid quality with its new range and a Xiaomi 17pro max you can see yourself when filming with back camera. Problem is many of the shops here (UK) don't have these phones to even test out. Any suggestions?

suggest a phone for custom rom

budget 20-30k inr (~200-300$)

will be upgrading from a trash 10k (~100$) redmi phone from 2023, so my standards are very low.

i wanna use this phone for atleast 6 years and custom rom support is very important, especially lineageos. other requirement is 256gb storage.

good camera & battery would be nice too but cant ask too much from this budget.

dont care much about gaming/ performance, just want it to last 6 years for basic tasks and multitasking.

few phones i found are pixel 7, oneplus 9 and oneplus 11 from used market.
pls suggest
thank you
