Personally, I am split. Conceptually I feel like Noob/Smoke is the coolest due to their uniqueness and status as a sub-boss. However, Noob benefits considerably more from this partnership than Smoke who is objectively the lackey of the duo.

My biggest problem with Smoke is the lack of clear identity he's had throughout the series, MK1 has done the most in regard to rectifying this and it actually feels like there are a lot of options in which he can develop. I'm not too into the boyband hair tho... So I'll call it a tie.

From what I've seen Jarek and Dairou are the two most forgettable Mortal Kombat characters. Even Hsu Hao has being hated by the developers as part of his identity. If you were going to being one of them back which one and how? (I know MK1 Havik is Dairou but I'm talking about bringing back Dairou as his own thing).

Hi, I used to play MK4 on PC for years in the early 2000s, and i enabled alternative outfits in the game settings, but it only allows me switching once and then it auto-selects the character, so i can't pick Scorpion's gray/skull outfit...

Hi all, I posted yesterday about an MK RPG, and while I enjoyed that discussion, something was brought to my attention that I would like some clarity on: people don't seem to like the story of MK1. I recently got the game and last night I (rather easily/quickly) beat the expansion. And I have to be honest, I actually really enjoyed the story (both for the base game and the DLC). I've had it explained why people didn't exactly care for it, and I don't disagree necessarily with those critical views, but I think that if moving forward NRS actually listens to the criticism and focuses on treating MK1 as a true reboot (and by extension keeps continuity starting from here) the future could be bright.

All that being said, it brings me to the more positive part of my post: what I personally like about the game. I'm going to focus specifically on the story and characters/lore and stay away from mechanics here (though I hate Kameos, worst part about the game imo).

1. Mileena and Baraka being "good guys". Two of my favorite characters aesthetically that in my opinion, never made sense as villains. Mileena especially has always been a tragic character in my mind and as the intro (Liu Kang) said about giving everyone a chance for peace, I am very glad that she got hers. This alone sucked me into the story, as it adds depth to these beloved characters.

2. Johnny Cage. Absolutely nailed it with his dialogue, every time he was on screen, I was deeply captivated. Whether it was his comedic lines, or the handful of truly heartwarming ones.

3. Liu Kang reuniting with "his" Kitana. Who doesn't love a good romance? Also, the fact that Liu Kang, despite having control over the timeline didn't connect the Kitana in it to himself (because it wouldn't have been the same) ❤️

4. The ending sequence being a massive reference to Armageddon is just chef's kiss. Seeing how Armageddon is where I started with MK, this was extra special for me.

5. Reptile finally getting some love!

I have more, but these are definitely at the top for me. If anyone else would like to share their thoughts on the game, feel free. Thanks in advance.

This wasn't the same Stryker from Mortal Kombat 3, he was a totally different character that was almost in MK 1 and was supposed to be in Sonya Blade's spot who ended up taking it. The character now known as Jax was almost called Stryker in Mortal Kombat II, but that didn’t happen and he ended up in MK 3 as a totally different character but with the same name that had already been used earlier.

We all know that Emperor Rain was dead in there, if Titan Liu Kang is here, let's say he replace Sektor. Can he survive?

Hey everyone. Just wanted to show off something I've been 'working' on (I'm not a programmer, I really respect the profession, I just do it for fun). For my own amusement, I've always felt that Shaolin Monks is pretty limiting when it comes to switching characters once a playthrough has started, and it always reminded me of how arcade Mortal Kombat games used to work—you hit start, the character pops up, and you're playing. So, thanks to the available documentation (and plenty of help from AIs), I managed to put something together more or less playable based on my vision back then. It's the PC port, Open Shao. Anyway, have a great afternoon everyone.

If let behind his gameplay, story role or the fact that he is not emperor no more, what do you think about his design in this game?

In my opinion, if Netherrealm were given back his hammer and made larger and more muscular like in MK11, he would look cool!

Can she be a useful kameo or does she just exist as a meme?

I mean getting drunk, the cigarette to the face and the slipper are fucking hilarious, but can't tell if she is good or not, I still suck at kameo usage in general
