Discussion The Dead Space Remake is a 10/10 masterpiece.
I just have to get this out there. I have played many games across many genres, including tons of horror games. Nothing holds a flame to Dead Space. The feeling I get when I play this game cannot be replicated anywhere else. I believe it is a masterpiece because it nails it in pretty much every category.
The sound design is top notch, it slowly makes you feel like you’re going insane, watching your back thinking there’s something watching you. The whispers/voices, and the industrial machinery giving it a cold, dark, metallic environment sanitized of any hope. Even some machinery sounding exactly like the screams of the necromorphs. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and the music that is sprinkled in sparingly is high quality, well thought out horror/sci-fi music.
The visual quality is amazing. Everything is a horror fan’s eye candy. The necromorphs are truly horrifying in appearance. The Ishimura has tons of variety in each setting, making something that sounds monotonous and repetitive on paper, feel refreshing and different. You really feel a sense of relief when you finish a chapter or get to a save station, or store to re-up your ammo.
The story and lore has vast depth, plot twists, solid character building. You feel like you really are Isaac Clarke, and that you have been inadvertently tasked with the near impossible. You can feel the tension and the intensity, where your only real option is to keep pushing forward, even if it may feel dreadful.
All in all, I personally can’t think of any complaints with the game, it’s just all around an incredible masterpiece to me. I’ve replayed it since I was a teenager so many times I’ve lost count, it’s almost like a comfort game to me at this point, and I’m considering going for a 100% completion for the remake. Anyways, I just wanted to get this out there as I feel a massive sense of passion and appreciation for this game, I love it so much.
