AntiWORK Labor Rights for Dummies: A guide to your right as an employee

I decided to make a post about this since the community keeps getting the same question over and over again. So here we go.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, so please feel free to comment any corrections. Most of these are just from my knowledge as a manager. If may kulang, let me know and I'll add it here.

1. Can my employer require me to work more than 8 hours a day?

Yes, but overtime generally has to be paid.

The normal working period is 8 hours per day. Work beyond 8 hours is generally considered overtime and must be paid at least:

  • Regular day: regular hourly rate + 25%
  • Rest day/holiday: applicable rate + at least 30%

A company cannot simply call something "mandatory OT" and use that label to avoid paying overtime.

2. "Our company has no OT pay because it's in the contract." Is that legal?

Not necessarily.

An employment contract cannot simply remove a statutory benefit when the Labor Code requires that benefit.

For example, if you are a covered employee performing work beyond 8 hours, the law generally requires overtime compensation. DOLE specifically states that overtime work beyond eight hours must receive additional compensation.

However, some personnel are xcluded in this. Art. 82 specifically mentions that "government employees, managerial employees, field personnel, members of the family of the employer who are dependent on him for support, domestic helpers, persons in the personal service of another, and workers who are paid by results as determined by the Secretary of Labor in appropriate regulations." are not covered by overtime pay.

3. Can my employer make me work before my scheduled shift without paying me?

If you are actually required to work, that time may count as hours worked.

Article 84 covers time during which an employee is:

  • required to be on duty;
  • required to be at the prescribed workplace; or
  • permitted or suffered to work.

So if your employer says:

"Your shift starts at 9:00, but you need to log in at 8:30 to prepare."

and you're actually required to perform work during that period, the 30 minutes may potentially constitute compensable working time.

4. Does my lunch break count as working time?

Normally, a genuine meal period does not count as working time.

Employers generally have to provide at least 60 minutes for a regular meal period.

5. Do I automatically get holiday pay?

For a regular holiday, generally yes, but there is an important condition if you don't work on the holiday.

Under DOLE's holiday-pay rules (Labor Advisory No 13, Series of 2026), a covered employee who does not work on a regular holiday is entitled to 100% of their basic wage, provided that they:

  • worked on the workday immediately preceding the holiday; or
  • were on an approved leave of absence with pay on that preceding workday.

What if I was absent the day before the holiday?

This is where the rule gets important.

If you were absent without pay (AWOL or unpaid leave) on the workday immediately preceding the regular holiday and you also don't work on the holiday, you may lose your holiday pay for that holiday.

6. Am I entitled to 13th-month pay even if I'm still probationary?

Generally, yes.

13th-month pay is not dependent on being a regular employee.

DOLE staes that rank-and-file employees are entitled to 13th-month pay regardless of employment status, provided they have worked for at least one month during the calendar year.

The basic formula is:

Total basic salary earned during the year ÷ 12 = 13th-month pay

So, for example, if you earned ₱240,000 in basic salary during the year:

₱240,000 ÷ 12 = ₱20,000

7. Can my employer terminate me while I'm probationary?

Yes, but "probationary" does not mean "you can be fired for absolutely anything."

Probationary employment generally cannot exceed 6 months, unless an applicable apprenticeship arrangement allows otherwise.

A probationary employee may be terminated for a just cause or because they failed to qualify as a regular employee under reasonable standards that were made known to them when they were hired.

One important point:

The employer should not suddenly invent the standards after the employee has already started working. The standards for regularization are supposed to be made known at the time of engagement.

8. What happens if I reach 6 months and my company doesn't tell me whether I'm regular?

This is an important issue.

Under the Labor Code, probationary employment generally cannot exceed six months. An employee who is allowed to work after the probationary period may be considered a regular employee.

So "you're still probationary indefinitely" is not something an employer can simply declare without regard to the law.

There can be exceptions and nuances, particularly involving specific contractual arrangements and apprenticeships, so the exact employment documents matter.

9. Can my employer fire me without warning?

Generally, no, not if the termination is based on a just cause.

For covered employees, the Labor Code recognizes security of tenure: a regular employee cannot simply be terminated unless there is a legally recognized just or authorized cause.

For a termination based on just cause, the employer generally has to comply with the two-notice requirement.

First notice — Notice to Explain / Notice of Intent to Dismiss

  • The employer must give the employee a written notice:
  • identifying the specific act or omission being charged;
  • stating the ground or grounds for possible termination;
  • providing sufficient details about the alleged violation; and
  • giving the employee a reasonable opportunity to explain and defend themselves.

Second notice — Notice of Decision

The employer must then issue a second written notice informing the employee of the employer's decision after considering the employee's explanation.

If the employer determines that termination is justified, the second notice should communicate the decision to dismiss and the grounds supporting that decision.

In other words:

NTE → Employee gets opportunity to respond → Employer evaluates response → Notice of Decision

10. Do I automatically get 5 paid vacation days every year?

The Labor Code provides a 5-day Service Incentive Leave (SIL) for covered employees who have rendered at least one year of service.

However, there are exemptions, including certain establishments with fewer than 10 employees and employees who already receive at least five days of paid vacation leave or an equivalent benefit. (Article 95)

11. Can my employer withhold my final pay because I haven't completed clearance?

Clearance can matter, but your employer cannot simply keep your money indefinitely.

As per Labor Advisory No. 06, Series of 2020, final pay should generally be released within 30 days from separation, unless the employer has a more favorable policy.

Your final pay can include applicable amounts such as:

  • unpaid salary;
  • pro-rated 13th-month pay;
  • separation/retirement pay where applicable;
  • convertible unused leave;
  • tax refunds; and
  • other contractual/company benefits.

12. Can I resign immediately without rendering 30 days?

Sometimes, but don't assume you can always do it.

The general rule for voluntary resignation without just cause is that the employee gives the employer at least one month's written notice.

There are circumstances allowing resignation without the usual notice, including certain situations involving serious insult, inhuman treatment, crime against the employee or immediate family, and analogous circumstances.

13. Do I need my manager approval for my resignation?

Generally, no. Your resignation does not require your manager's approval to be valid.

Your manager can acknowledge or process the resignation, but they don't have the legal power to reject your resignation simply because they don't want you to leave.

What if my manager says, "I don't approve your resignation"?

That statement does not automatically cancel your resignation.

But can my manager reject my requested last day?

This is different from rejecting the resignation itself.

If you are resigning without just cause, the general rule is that you should give at least one month's notice.

Your manager doesn't have to "approve" your resignation, but leaving immediately without satisfying the applicable notice requirement can create a separate issue.

So there are really two questions:

"Can I resign?"

Generally, yes.

"Can I leave immediately?"

Not necessarily. The one-month notice requirement may apply unless an exception exists.

Meta DOLE/NLRC Complaint Process

For reference of those asking, here are the steps in filing a complaint against an employer:

  1. File a complaint online through DOLE - eSENA: eSENA means Single Entry Approach (SEnA)and it is an administrative approach to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement procedure of all labor issues or conflicts to prevent them from ripening into full-blown disputes or actual labor cases. (https://ncmb.gov.ph/single-entry-approach-sena/)
  2. From there, magseset ng 2 mediation hearing in DOLE office within your city. Doon, kakausapin kayo and ittry isettle yung case. However if hindi magkasundo, the SENA Officer will give you a referral letter to the NLRC. (the 2 hearings must be finished within a month)
  3. You will submit the Referral letter to the NLRC office. If from NCR ka, their office is in Q. Ave. There, magkakaroon ng 2 hearings ulit but this time, before the Labor Arbiter (Ka-rank nya ang judge sa courts). Ittry ulit na mapagusapan yung issue here. You can still appear here kahit walang lawyer. (The 2 hearings usually happens within a month also)
  4. If hindi makapagsettle, the Arbiter will direct both parties to prepare a position paper. Doon nyo ilalagay yung mga arguments nyo, etc. Here, it is highly advisable that you seek the assistance of a lawyer. If your monthly salary does not exceed Php 24k, pwede kang pumunta sa PAO and libre lang. If lampas naman, i recommend this page i found "Labor Representation for Non-Indigents" (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61566451322338) na free consultation and minimal fees.
  5. Then, magset ng date for submission of position paper si arbiter. Doon, isusubmit nyo sa arbiter pati sa isa't-isa yung position paper nyo. Then, magseset ulit ng date for the submission of the reply.
  6. Afterwards, ireresolve ni arbiter yung case. Depende sa arbiter and workload, minsan within a month pero minsan inaabot ng 5 months.
  7. Then, the decision will be rendered. Yung natalong party will have the opportunity to file an appeal. Medyo matagal ang appeal, usually 8 months to 1 year.
  8. If no appeal and you are adjudged monetary award, magkakaroon ng pre-execution conference. Dito magcocompute kayo ng mas accurate and kung paano babayaran.
  9. Lastly, payment of award.

Note: Medyo mahaba and nakakapagod yung process tbh. Kaya better if everyone will find an amicable solution. These info are all based on my personal experience and with consultation sa nakilala kong lawyer. Hope it helps!

AntiworkBOSS My boss physically restrained and humiliated me at work.

Medyo mahaba, pero I really need some advice.

During my break, nasa production area pa rin ako kasi may work-related task akong hinihintay matapos.

I didn't say anything. Nanahimik lang ako the entire time kasi natatakot akong baka mas lumala pa kapag sumagot ako.

After that, nakaramdam pa ako ng lightheadedness. Parang wala akong karapatang respetuhin bilang empleyado.

I understand naman na may rules sa workplace, and if may mali man ako sa paggamit ng phone, willing naman akong pagsabihan (Take note, it's my break).

I try my best naman to deliver my tasks and accommodate urgent requests.

I'm now planning to resign soon, but I'm not sure kung paano ko ito ihahandle. Part of me wants to address what happened directly, pero part of me just wants to leave quietly and move on.

To anyone who has experienced something similar:

How did you handle it? Would you recommend addressing the incident before resigning, or mas okay na umalis na lang peacefully?

I just want to leave this workplace safely and with my dignity intact.

Salamat sa mga magbabasa.

Rant 😡 Valid ba yung frustration ko, or am I overthinking things?

Gusto ko lang maintindihan kung paano hinahandle yung ganitong situations at kung ano ba yung reasonable expectations between the company and its employees.

For those who've experienced something similar, paano ninyo ito hinandle? Valid ba yung frustration ko, or may ibang perspective ba akong hindi nakikita?

Rant 😡 I’m now on my fourth month as a probationary Key Account Manager at an IT company, and I’m uncertain whether I’ll be regularized

Kailangan kong isa-isahin at intindihin ang mga files on my own.

Reasonable ba ang expectation na makapag-deliver agad ng results during probation, considering the long enterprise sales cycle and lack of support?

Would you stay and wait for regularization, or continue looking for better opportunities habang employed pa?

AntiworkBOSS Optimum Minds Media Production Review - Has Anyone Worked Here in the Philippines?

Hi everyone! I want to ask if anyone here has worked at Optimum Minds Media Production in the Philippines, whether as an employee, Production Assistant, freelancer, or project-based worker or artist.

I worked there for around four months, and honestly, my experience was extremely stressful. I decided to share my experience because I wish someone had warned me about the working environment before I joined, especially since I was still gaining experience in the industry.

Here are some of the things I personally experienced during my time there.

1. Delayed Salary Payments
One of my concerns was the delayed salary payments. It's stressful enough to work every day, but having to worry about when you'll receive your salary makes things even worse, especially when you have your own bills and transportation expenses to pay.

2. No Company-Provided HMO or Insurance
During my time there, the company did not provide company-sponsored HMO or health or accident insurance, based on my experience. This was a major concern because employees need protection and support, especially when something unexpected happens.

3. Being Pressured to Close Sales Even When It Wasn't Part of My Main Role
There was pressure to close sales even though sales was not part of what I understood to be my primary job responsibilities. It was frustrating to be expected to meet sales targets when that wasn't what I originally signed up for.

4. Work-Related Transportation Expenses Were Not Consistently Reimbursed
There were work-related transportation expenses that weren't consistently reimbursed. Sometimes, it felt like you were just lucky if your reimbursement was approved. As an employee, you shouldn't have to keep worrying about spending your own money just to fulfill work responsibilities.

5. Artist Welfare and Production Food Budgets
This was another thing that really bothered me, especially because I also worked as a Production Assistant.
Honestly, there were times when I felt embarrassed about the food we had to provide for the famous artists. Imagine having multiple artists, including theater performers, who spend hours practicing and preparing for a production, yet the food budget could be as low as ₱50–₱80 per person. There were also instances when the food provided was just a small piece of turon. Gurl, imagine being the Production Assistant responsible for coordinating these things. You have multiple artists to feed, people who have spent hours rehearsing and preparing, but you have to work with a very limited budget. It's stressful because you're the one dealing with the situation on the ground. I understand that productions have budgets and financial limitations, but artists also deserve proper consideration. They invest their time, effort, energy, and talent into making a production successful. They shouldn't have to feel that their basic needs are being overlooked. I felt uncomfortable being put in that position, knowing how much effort the artists were putting into their work while the available food budget was so limited.

6. A Disorganized and Stressful Working Environment
The overall working environment caused me significant stress and anxiety. As someone who was still learning and gaining experience in the industry, I expected a workplace where I could develop my skills, learn from experienced people, and grow professionally.
Instead, my experience was mentally exhausting. The pressure, disorganization, and concerns about how things were handled made the job much more difficult than I expected.

7. Frequent Employee Turnover
During my four months there, I noticed that employees kept leaving. Based on my experience, the employer's attitude and management style made the workplace extremely stressful. We were expected to do multiple tasks, sometimes beyond our job scope, despite having insufficient budgets and resources. The expectations were high, but the support was lacking. Honestly, the toxic working environment made it difficult to stay and grow professionally.

My Honest Advice to Job Seekers
If you're a fresh graduate, a beginner in the production industry, or someone looking for your first opportunity, please do your research before accepting a position here.

Honestly, based on my personal experience, I would not recommend working there. The experience was stressful enough that I wouldn't want other people, especially those who are just starting their careers, to go through the same situation.

I went into the job wanting to gain experience, learn, and grow professionally. Instead, I experienced so much stress and anxiety that it affected my overall well-being.
I wouldn't say that everyone will necessarily develop depression or anxiety because everyone's experience and mental health are different.

However, I can honestly say that my experience was mentally exhausting, and I would not want anyone to underestimate how much a stressful working environment can affect them.

The production industry is already demanding, and artists and production staff work hard to make projects happen.

At the very least, employees deserve timely compensation, clear responsibilities, reasonable work-related support, and a working environment where people feel valued.

My advice? Please think carefully before accepting a job here. Ask questions about salary schedules, employment contracts, benefits, insurance, reimbursement policies, job responsibilities, and production budgets. Don't accept an offer just because you want to gain experience or get your foot in the door. Your mental health, time, effort, and financial stability matter, too.

To former employees, freelancers, Production Assistants, and project-based artists who have worked with Optimum Minds Media Production: Did you experience similar issues, or was your experience different?
I'd genuinely appreciate hearing other people's experiences.

Disclaimer: This post reflects my personal experience and observations during my approximately four months working with the company. Other people's experiences may differz.

Company alert 🚩 'Wag Kayong Mag-apply Dito

If you know this NGO, they are very, yes VERY, loud sa ibang bansa about veganism and animal welfare.

I used a hidden camera para mag-record ng field footage. After the investigation, I had to write all the details ng nakita ko without assumption since bawal 'yun—basta kung ano lang yung nakita mo at ng lente ng hidden cam. Hindi siya madali kasi kailangang very detailed and comprehensive, as in idedescribe mo yung mga taong nandun, yung sukat at itsura ng lugar, exact location, pati dimensions ng kulungan kung nakakulong ang hayop, kung anong meron sa loob ng cage, etc. They did this para daw makita kung may cruelty bang nangyayari at kung maayos ba ang welfare ng hayop.

Anyway, back to the manager, grabe ang micromanaging niya! WTF. Sobrang hirap niyang kausap and even ibang departments alam kung gaano siya kahirap makatrabaho at nabanggit din sa akin nung nakakwentuhan ko sila dati. Naalala ko rin nung pinipilit pa niya akong pumasok sa office nila mismo, since may office sila dito na naka-based, kahit wala naman silang mapoprovide na equipment for me doon. AFAIR, they know na I have no laptop and desktop ang meron ako since nasabi ko rin ito during interview.

Malaman-laman ko, may opening na naman pala sila for an investigation role since last month.

Gagamitin lang kayo at the end.

Hi! Gusto ko lang makakuha ng advise for my sickness benefit so here's the timeline po.

I am under probationary so my sick leave is unpaid po. Mon-fri shift

Timeline of my sickness and processing of requirements:

August 3: Date I got sick and initially it was just 3 days but doctor recommended for me to rest for 7 days (till August 9)

August 5: Please refer to the picture attached this is me asking the for requirements and it took them so much time before they could answer me (if they could send it via my personal email and not work email)

August 9: I sent the request thru the online sss account since i have not heard any response from my employer and I was still sick and unable to move since then hence I sent it online.

Thinking this was the WAY i thought it would get approved and later on rejected since it should be my employer to send the documents and waited

August 11 is when my employer sent the email they've mention but did not received it since it was send thru my work email.

August 14: I have not received any email in regards to the requirements regardless of the informing they have sent an email. i received it late.

August 18: I sent the documents personally in the HR office Morning. And they mention they will send it that day but later on upon checking sa sss Aug 20 nila pinasa and ninotify.

August 28: I asked for the status

Sept 8: they broke the news that they cant process it even though it was approved on SSS end.

They mentioned it might not be process since the 10 days calendar exceeded but its really unfair in my part. Its my first time processing this documents po

Rant 😡 Why are career shifters from BPO to corporate finance the worst people handlers?

I don't know if it's just me pero ang hirap ipa-intindi sa managers who are career shifters from BPO to cor-finance na we have a different nature of work here in corporate.

Idk what's difficult sa fact na hindi nga prod-work yung type of work here. Na hindi nga metric-driven yung results. Like how am I supposed to give you numbers when my type of work cannot be rushed or measured by hourly output metrics? Na it's not a matter of checking the boxes?

Edit: I'm contemplating resigning na because this kind of leadership style just doesn't work sa team. Ilang weeks na akong feeling burnt out sa work because of this. But then, I like what I'm doing. I literally enjoy my job. And I don't like the fact na ako yung mag-aadjust when this manager didn't gauge man lang or even understood muna kung ano ginagawa ng team niya before implementing his KPI metrics (when again hindi nga quantifiable nature of work namin).

Rant 😡 Terminated because someone reported that I watched video that causes traffic to bandwidth but they don't have evidence. How should I explain this when applying other company?

Hello, I was terminated because someone reported that I watched video that causes traffic to bandwidth but they don't have evidence.

I tried to explain that I only watched video playback or it's like a GIF when you open the Microsoft Edge Browser but I don't click any website but the Employer still proceed the termination.

How should I explain this when applying other company?

I was rejected everytime (just like the picture) when I applied and that is one of their reason.

Please help me.

AntiWORK Can I challenge my previous company for tagging me fraud ?di na ako makapag apply sa kahit saang bpo.

What: What happened or what is the issue?

I am seeking advice regarding a fraud classification issued by my former employer, Company 2, which appears to be affecting my current job applications.
I previously worked for Company 1 and submitted an immediate resignation letter but was unable to complete the required 30-day notice period. When I applied to Company 2, I declared my separation from Company 1 as “resigned” because I had submitted my resignation letter and understood that I was ending my employment. I did not intend to misrepresent my employment history.

Company 2 later issued a Notice of Decision (NOD) dated November 14, 2025, classifying my actions as fraud. According to the NOD, I allegedly provided misleading information during the hiring process, allowing my onboarding to proceed.

I signed the NOD, but the signature portion was labeled “Received by.” I am concerned about whether I can still challenge the classification and whether the information associated with my employment record is accurate.

When: When did it happen?

The NOD was dated November 14, 2025.
Afterward, I provided supporting documents to Company 2, including my Certificate of Employment from Company 1 and relevant email correspondence. I have also contacted Company 2's HR department to request a review of my concern.

As of October 2026, I am still trying to clarify the matter because it appears to be affecting my employment opportunities.

Where: Where did it happen?

The issue arose during my employment separation from Company 1 and the subsequent hiring and background-check process with Company 2, both of which are former employers in the Philippines.
I am considering seeking assistance from the appropriate Philippine government agency because I cannot afford to hire a private lawyer.

Why: Why did it happen or why is the issue occurring?

My understanding was that declaring my separation as “resigned” was truthful because I had submitted an immediate resignation letter, even though I was unable to complete the 30-day notice period and my resignation was apparently not formally approved.
Company 2 considered my declaration misleading and classified the matter as fraud. However, I am concerned about whether the circumstances establish intentional misrepresentation, considering that I had submitted a resignation letter and did not intend to deceive the company.

My main concern now is that other prospective employers have informed me that a background-check hit or an issue associated with Company 2 appears during their screening process. This has made it difficult for me to move forward with job applications.
I want to understand whether the classification is justified and whether Company 2 may be disclosing information that I can request to have reviewed or corrected if it is inaccurate.

How: How did the situation develop?

I submitted an immediate resignation letter to Company 1 but could not complete the required notice period. When applying to Company 2, I declared my separation as “resigned” based on my understanding of the situation.

Company 2 subsequently investigated the matter and issued the NOD classifying my actions as fraud. I submitted supporting documents, including my Certificate of Employment from Company 1 and relevant email correspondence. I also signed the NOD as received.

I later contacted Company 2's HR department to request a review, and they informed me that they would look into my concern.

I would appreciate advice on the following questions:
Can I still challenge the fraud classification even though I signed the NOD? Does the “Received by” acknowledgment affect my ability to dispute the findings?

Does failure to complete a 30-day resignation notice automatically justify a fraud classification, or must intentional misrepresentation be established separately?

Can I request a copy or clarification of the information Company 2 is disclosing during background checks and ask for correction if it is inaccurate or misleading?
Should I approach DOLE through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), the NLRC, or the National Privacy Commission (NPC), depending on the nature of my complaint?

Are there free legal aid services available for someone who cannot afford a private lawyer?

I am not trying to avoid responsibility for failing to complete the required notice period. I simply want to understand whether the fraud classification was justified and what legal options I have to address its continuing impact on my employment opportunities.
Thank you to anyone who can offer guidance or share relevant experience.

Would appreciate hearing your experiences and insights. 🙂

AntiWORK Anyone here who resigned while pregnant? Need advice.

Just want to ask lang sana, meron ba here nag-resign during pregnancy? I’m currently 5 months pregnant, and during my 1st–4th month, I was advised by my OB to go on bed rest due to threatened miscarriage. I tried WFH at first, pero my symptoms made it really hard to work, so I decided to go on leave nalang.

I was actually up for promotion this year, kaso hindi nila ako prinomote because of the “timing” daw, and they’ll reconsider nalang after my maternity leave. Sobrang sama ng loob ko because after almost 4 years of hard work, parang na-disregard lahat ng efforts ko because of circumstances beyond my control.

I also noticed na parang nagkaroon ng hostility towards me yung manager ko while I was away. Like how she dismisses my condition and kahit naka leave ako, may demands parin of this and that, and todo micromanage, which btw hindi siya ganiyan sakin dati.

Now that I’m cleared to work, she mentioned during our alignment meeting na manageable naman daw yung workload and kaya naman nilang dalawa nung isa pang team member at di naman sila nahirapan kahit wala ako. Maybe it’s just how she delivered it, pero with everything that happened, parang ang dating sa akin is hindi na nila ako kailangan.

Honestly, I was already thinking of resigning even before getting married. I turned down other opportunities because I genuinely thought they would promote me, especially since they kept talking about my future in the company. Now, mas nagle-lean na ako towards resigning for my peace of mind and my baby.

My husband is also telling me to resign, pero I can’t help feeling guilty knowing how tired he gets from working and that I won’t be able to help as much for the meantime. I want to prioritize myself and my baby, pero I also want to help my husband.

For those who resigned while pregnant, how did you come to the decision to do so? Super hirap me mag decide now.

Kaya pa ba to tiisin/ilaban to stay or leave nalamg talaga for my well-being and health? Thank you!

AntiWORK Do we have active movement against AI in the PH? Because this clanker is the reason why most of the younger generation are unemployed, while those who have jobs will be laid off within a few months or years.

I want all labour unions united as one

Same with the opposition

Same with civil society

Same with activist organisations/association

Fuck it, every single human being. Because AI takeover will bring humanity into extinction

Contact your representative

Contact your community leader

Contact anyone to spread awareness about it

Better we start organising and add pressure towards our government

They already replace hard-working Americans and European. Filipino going to be next; there is no doubt about it. We are going to die, or we are going to fight; pick a choice.

I have a good feeling that overseas Filipino workers will decline in the next few years and decades. Even sloppy AI advertisements in the Philippines already replace local graphic designers

We are losing time right now.

Company alert 🚩 Inizio Medical: A Shiny Corporate Image Hiding an Ugly Workplace Culture?

WARNING TO FUTURE APPLICANTS AT INIZIO MEDICAL: READ THIS BEFORE JOINING.

Makikita ninyo sa Linkedin , they are looking for production designers. Since few people couldnt find a review. Ito ang review na hinahanap ninyo.

If you're planning to apply for a Production Specialist position at Inizio Medical, especially for roles involving PowerPoint and InDesign please read this before accepting an offer. Sa next cohort.

If you've already seen the reviews about Inizio Medical on Indeed and Glassdoor, don't dismiss them outright. Take them seriously and read them carefully. Pay attention to recurring concerns about management, training, probation, and the overall working environment. Do your research before deciding whether this is the right workplace for you.

Here are some things future applicants should be aware of.

  1. Be extremely careful during face-to-face training.

Don't underestimate your face-to-face training. Your performance during this stage may influence whether you're allowed to proceed to live production.

Pay attention to the instructions, double-check your work, and make sure you understand the required standards. Ask how your performance will be evaluated and what criteria you'll need to meet before moving to live production.

Don't assume that having years of experience automatically means you'll find the company's processes easy. Every workplace has its own standards and workflows.

  1. Watch out for comparisons with other employees.

One management behavior applicants should be aware of is being compared with other employees when they make mistakes.

Imagine making an error and hearing something along the lines of:

"Why could someone else do it, but you couldn't? It's easy. Anyone can do that."

Comments like these aren't constructive feedback. Every employee has different strengths, experience, and learning needs. A task that seems easy to one person may not be easy for someone else who is still learning the process.

If a manager uses comparisons to make you feel inadequate instead of explaining what went wrong and how to fix it, that's a serious concern.

A good manager should help employees understand the expected standard, not make them feel inferior to their colleagues.

Yung managers dyan malakas ang kapit nila. Yung tatlong senior deisngers dyan. Ang panget ng ugali nila. Nagsisimula ung name nila na D.A.J.

If you overshare your struggles, gagamitin nila yan against you sa monthly feedback.

You are walking in a eggshell tapos feeling mo every monthly feedback nila parang Russian Roulette during probationary period.

  1. Be mindful of your monthly probationary feedback.

Your monthly feedback during probation is important. Keep track of your completed tasks, corrections, instructions, and progress.

If you receive criticism, ask for specific examples and actionable recommendations. Make sure you understand what needs to improve and how your performance will be assessed.

Don't deliberately slow down your work or avoid asking necessary questions. Instead, maintain quality, communicate professionally, and document important feedback.

You should be able to understand what you're being evaluated on rather than constantly guessing whether your performance meets expectations.

  1. Be careful with workplace conversations.

Dont share too much about yourself, because they will use against you.

When discussing sensitive issues, performance concerns, or disagreements, communicate professionally and confirm important instructions or decisions in writing.

If you feel that something discussed verbally has been interpreted differently later, a clear follow-up email can help establish what was actually agreed upon.

This isn't about treating every colleague as an enemy. It's about protecting yourself professionally and ensuring that important matters are documented accurately.

  1. Understand the management culture.

Strict quality standards are reasonable, particularly in medical communications, where accuracy and consistency matter.

However, there's a difference between maintaining high standards and creating an environment where employees feel belittled when they make mistakes.

If employees are expected to meet demanding standards, they should also receive clear instructions, constructive feedback, and a fair opportunity to improve.

Being technically skilled doesn't automatically make someone a good people manager. Leadership requires communication, patience, consistency, and accountability.

A manager's job isn't simply to point out mistakes. It's also to explain expectations and help employees develop their skills.

Yung shinare mo sa line manager mo. Bigla mag iibang version yan sa iba.

  1. Understand the actual job before accepting an offer.

Ask about the day-to-day responsibilities, training process, transition to live production, probationary criteria, and opportunities for professional development.

Don't judge the position by its title alone. Understand the actual workload and what will be expected of you.

Final warning to future applicants

If you've read the reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor, take the time to compare the experiences being described. Similar concerns appearing across multiple independent reviews are worth investigating, although every employee's experience may differ.

Don't rely solely on the company's reputation or what you hear during the interview. Ask questions about training, feedback, performance evaluations, and management expectations before accepting an offer.

A workplace should help employees improve, not make them afraid of making mistakes.

Do your research, read the reviews, and make your own informed decision before committing your time, skills, and career to the company.

Sometimes, the warning signs are already there. Don't ignore them without looking into them first.

You gotta be perfectionist like make no mistakes during F2F training nila. Trust Indeed and Glassdoor reviews.

You cant trust the line managers at mga UK seniors dyan. Sobra nilang toxic.

AntiWORK Got Terminated, Should I File a Case? Ano po ang Gagawin ko?

Under probationary po ako, then 1st week of October kinausap ako ng boss ko, verbally terminated ako, pinagrender nya ako ng 3 weeks para tapusin ko na lang daw 5th month ko. 1 week before my 5th month kinausap uli ako, tapusin ko na daw hanggang 6th months dahil wala pa akong kapalit at para makapag turn over pa daw ako. Sumagot ako na "pwede naman po". Supposedly itong week na to yung last week ko sana but monday kinausap ko sya, told her na tatapusin ko na lang yung 5th month ko instead of 6 months. She asked me why and magextend na lang daw ako ng 1 week para maturn over ko sa bago dahil may nakuha na sya na kapalit ko. Nag-agreed ako. But I asked for a written formal notice ng termination ko, nakailang follow up din ako ngayung week sabi nya ibibigay nya tomorrow then yung tomorrow naging next week. To make sure yata na irerender ko pa yung another week na gusto nya.

Based sa verbal termination nya, ang main reason is due to my habitual tardiness. Okay naman daw ang performance and skills. No NTE or any written document ang nabigay sa akin even my termination kaya possible po sya na illegal dismissal, but I'm worried na baka ang ilagay nya sa notice ay dahil hindi ko nameet yung standard for regularization, which is baliktad sa verbal notice nya.

If hindi na ako papasok next week to turn over my works mata-tag po ba ako as AWOL?

Rant 😡 Question about floating status under PH labor law

Can an employer place employees on floating status due to changes in client requirements if the work is still being performed by another team?

Would this potentially fall under redundancy instead? Curious about how Philippine labor law treats situations like this, especially under Articles 298 and 301 of the Labor Code.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or can anyone knowledgeable in Philippine labor law share their insights? Thank you!

Rant 😡 Update on my friend's illegal dismissal case

Hi everyone, I posted here on behalf of my friend a few days ago about their higher management saying they didn't get to meet performance standards despite evidence suggesting otherwise

See here if y'all interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/AntiworkPH/s/jRAnS28rMS

Their employer already served the notice of the end of the probationary period. And yes, citing unsatisfactory performance.

So far here are the facts I know:

  1. In their 3rd month, they have some "needs improvement" comments but was allowed to continue to their 5th month. Employee started May 15.

  2. 5th month appraisal, their immediate supervisor told them that they are up for regularization. No unsatisfactory or needs improvement marks.

  3. Suddenly higher management wants to stop them from being regularized by asking more documentation, to which they complied with

  4. Immediate supervisor told them that the higher management wants them to extend for another month, where they want them to write the request letter to extend to which they said whatever decision the company wants to do, let it be.

  5. Just now, they were served with the termination letter. They didn't sign yet.

Is their DOLE case strong here kaya? And when should they file? While they're still employed? Kelangan bang pumasok pa siya sa office after they filed sa DOLE? Sino dapat daw ang responding party? Like sino sa HR? Immediate boss ba?

They're so confused right now. I'm trying to help as much as I can to help ease their worries. Thanks everyone 🙏🏻
