Discussion Gerrymandering report to stay private until passed by UCP
If anyone wants to suffer through watching a special committee meeting you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/live/GGHwt857gvY
Long story short, gerrymandering our province will move forward and will remain private info until it is voted on on legislature. We get a glimpse of the most egregious changes in the committee meeting, such as removing Lethbridge as an urban riding and splitting it in four, big changes to NE Calgary, and multiple places intentionally having twice the population of rural ridings, effectively making city votes worth half as much.
This is not something we can vote away if we don't act quickly to pressure them out of this. If you oppose this, find out where you can get involved actively doing something about it. Venting on Reddit isn't gonna be enough.

Discussion What classic hockey arena is/will be more missed: Northland Coliseum in Edmonton (closed 2018) or the Saddledome in Calgary (closing next year)?
Both were great old barns and although the new arenas look neat, something about the Coliseum and the Saddledome truly made them special.

Alberta Politics One year ago today, Canadian teachers had their Charter rights taken away from them by the UCP using the notwithstanding clause
Bill 2 was introduced on the 27th last year and passed late in the night, with the UCP introducing procedural amendments to limit debate to one hour per stage to force through the law unreasonably quickly even as NDP MLAs attempted to filibuster it.
Thinking today about what we lost and where things have actually ended up over the last year. (Spoiler, it’s worse.)
edit: *Albertan teachers but it doesn’t take away from the point.

Events Please join us for a RESURRECTION OF THE NATIVE PlANTS!
Save these valuable native plants from their final resting place, a haunting DAY OF THE UNDEAD PLANTS! This is a joint partnership between Edmonton Native Plant Society, Alberta Native Plants Rescue Foundation & ATCO.
Hello everyone! This weekend there will be a plant salvage near Lac St Anne, approximately 65 kms ( 45 mins ) from West Edmonton, exact location coordinates will be given by email to those confirmed attending for this particular rescue. Date is Saturday, October 31st. Please note there might be snow, but we will have people on site regardless.
There will be two shifts to sign up for, one 12-2 and the other 2-4. Please bring a shovel, clippers, and containers to put plants in. Also appropriate footwear and outerwear should be worn, for your safety and comfort as we traverse spooky woodlands and a heart shaped fen.
The site where we are raising plants from the dead is chalk full of wetland plants and woodland plants, and we suggest bringing clippers to take cuttings of the cool woody shrubs in the area. Here is a plant list of the species we have found so far, note this is not exhaustive. We also recommend walking the sedges back from the grave.. By rescuing them and planting them in your garden as ground cover!! Willow stakes should be easy to root as well.
ETA: we will have people on site to identify plants for you!

Question Pharmacy unable to get enough COVID shots?
I went to my independent pharmacy today for my COVID and flu shot. Unfortunately, they said that they weren't able to get the COVID vaccine in because of some government stock issue.
That said, my brother got his at Shoppers Drug Mart no problem.
So is there an issue with pharmacies getting stock, or was my pharmacy just blaming the government for their own error?
