A celebration of life for Seamus and his 16 wonderful years.
Seamus' life began when he was born to stray who was accepting the care of a man who loved to feed stray cats. Through his landlord we were introduced to Seamus as a wee little kitten and the moment we laid eyes on him we knew he was a member of our family.
This little orange puff ball born blind in his left eye stole our hearts and that was that.
Aside from his vision issue Seamus also had a lifelong stomach problem and it aches to remember how long it took us to find a vet food that didn't upset his stomach. He would vomit so often that everyone in our household would feed him smaller amounts of food intermittently to try to get it to stay down. I'm just glad that we eventually found something that was good for him, even if he got bored of it every once in a while and demanded some of that good ol' pate and shreds for a bit.
Looking back he also ate his fair share of sky raisons!
Despite this Seamus kept on as if he didn't have any problems and gifted us a wonderful 16 years.
He kept us on schedule (a high maintenance man!), would greet you at the door, had that judgmental stare, was always around as the most socially unsocial cat (as in he was always around people, but was not big on being petted), loved taking sun baths, was always the first to test drive a new piece of furniture, could be as silly and goofy as you imagine he might be (one orange brain cell indeed!), was always eager to look out window looking at anyone walking by while listening to the birds sing, and gave us countless other memories as well.
He would even play "catch" with you. If you rolled a ball towards him he would try to bat it back towards you, although sometimes he would smack that ball sideways!
He also managed to sneak out the door behind one of us unnoticed numerous times over the years, but he always came back home to where he was loved.
Seamus was especially fond of my little brother and I'm so glad that those two got to spend so much time together.
He was doing so well that if you had asked me a month ago I would've confidently told you he had a few years left in him, but seeing him decline over the last few weeks made a different reality apparent.
It was time to say goodbye, but even accepting that didn't make saying it any easier. I didn't think that we'd have to say goodbye so soon and that it would be so hard and hurt this much.
We'll always miss you dearly, but we're so thankful that you were a part of our family. You made all of our lives better by being a part of them and the pain of losing you pales in comparison to the joy you brought us.
We love you, Seamus.
