Early Stages of Planning a Honeymoon, Need any recommendations

Hello!

I am planning a honeymoon trip for my wife and I for late April/Early May 2027 and do not know where to start.

We are looking to spend the bulk of our trip in Moorea but have looked into maybe splurging for a couple days in Bora Bora. Is Bora Bora worth the money?

As for places to stay in Moorea, I have seen a lot of people going back and forth on the Hilton or Sofitel, which one would everyone recommend?

Is the ferry good enough transport from Tahiti to Moorea or is flying the way to go?

Lastly, are there any must do or must see things on Moorea that should be included in our itinerary?

Thank you all in advance!

Cone snails

Today while snorkeling I found an interesting looking shell thinking it was empty. I was in a lagoon on a resort. Later I came across a video of someone saying that it’s a cone snail, extremely venomous and learned “if it’s a cone leave it alone.” So now I’m feeling extremely paranoid because perhaps it wasn’t empty I had my husband also handle and look at how pretty it was. Does anyone have info on how dangerous the cone snails in French Polynesia are? Everything online says I nearly died and now I’m worried symptoms will develop because you may not know if stung?? Thank you

Update: we are both fine but definitely leave all shells within the water alone! They can hide deep within their shell and appear empty. Apparently not all are super deadly and only around 30 deaths recorded. But still dangerous and super not worth it!

Travel tips and general knowledge One day in Tahiti, must see/do

We are arriving in Tahiti tomorrow from Moorea by Ferry at 8am. We have a car rental for the day to see the island. The only thing we have booked is to view the waves at Teahupo'o around 10am. What are other must do activities or things to see while in Tahiti. We have a flight out at 11:30pm with car drop off at 9pm.

Travel tips and general knowledge Moorea Whale Swim - Photo/Video

Looking for recommendations for a whale swimming tour in Moorea! This is a huge bucket-list experience for me, and I really want to stay present in the moment while still having photos/videos to remember it by.

Ideally, I’m looking for a reasonably priced group tour that offers underwater photos/videos without requiring a private tour. I’d especially love to hear from anyone who had a great experience and purchased photos/videos from their tour.

Thank you!

Flying PPT to Raiatea on the same day as embarkation?

I have a sailing trip departing from Raiatea and am wondering if I'm OK taking a short inter-island flight the same day that the boat departs. This is my itinerary:

Thursday: Arrive PPT at 8pm

Friday: All day on Tahiti

Saturday: Fly PPT to Raiatea 7:50am - 8:30am, boat departs 5:30pm

I keep reading about unreliable inter-island flights, but I'm taking the first flight of the day, with 9 hours of buffer time for delays. Is this advisable, or is it really necessary to fly to Raiatea a full day before?

Swiss passport holders: EU immigration queue at Tahiti Airport?

La ora na everyone,

I’m Swiss and will be travelling to French Polynesia in September 2027.

I’ve read that Tahiti Faa’a Airport has separate immigration queues for EU and non-EU passport holders.

Although Switzerland is not an EU member, it is part of the Schengen Area, and Swiss citizens are normally allowed to use the EU/EEA/Swiss immigration lanes at European airports.

I’m wondering whether the same applies at Tahiti Airport. Can Swiss passport holders use the EU immigration queue, or are we required to join the non-EU queue?

Has anyone with a Swiss passport recently arrived in Tahiti and experienced this?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Mauruuru!

Westin Bora Bora

My husband and I are planning a trip in mid February to Bora Bora. We’ve decided on the Westin, and are torn between the OWB with Otemanu view with plunge pool or the lagoon view and access with plunge pool at the Westin. Can anyone tell us depths of water under these 2 options and share any other experiences? Would love pictures of both as well! Thank you 🌺

Hiva Oa lodge to avoid.

We rented this place in Hiva Oa for three nights and hardly made it through the first night. Hot, stuffy, with a lot of traffic noise and over a mile from downtown. The windows have no screen and the fan is not adequate to cool the room. The kitchen is primitive, wood benches have no cushions and the fridge is toy size. The fly net over the bed gets mingled up with the bed sheets and makes sleeping even harder. We moved out the next day to Tiki Lodge (run by a very sweet and nice local lady) and eventually got reimbursed by ABNB for all three nights.

Help identify a song I heard on Tiare FM in Moorea, French Polynesia 🌺🎶

Ia Orana everyone! 🌺
I’m currently visiting beautiful Moorea and heard this song on the local radio station Tiare FM while driving around the island.
I’ve been trying to find it ever since, but unfortunately Shazam couldn’t recognize it.
Does anyone from Tahiti, Moorea or French Polynesia know the song title or artist? I’ve attached a short audio clip.
I’d love to add it to my vacation playlist!
Mauruuru roa for your help! 🇵🇫

2 Week Itinerary Advice

Hi,

Started provisionally planning a 2 week trip for August/September and wondered if I need to make any changes. I'm AOW diver so would like to get some diving in. the main reason to head over is for the whales. I'll be travelling from Europe so m first day I plan to do nothing.

My current idea is

Day 1 -6 Moorea with 2 (maybe 3) half day whale swim tours

4 days Rangiora (middle 2 day diving)

4 days Fakarava (middle 2 days diving)

1 day Taihiti

Fly home

Edit to add dates

Hiking on Tahiti/itinerary for a day there

Hi is it possible to hike on Tahiti by yourself or do you need a guide for safety? If renting a car planned to hike to some waterfalls, go to a black sand beach , and vaipahi gardens but what else?
