Earwig icecream Stupid rules at a creamery almost ruined my day
I went to a creamery in TX [USA] and there were strict “rules”.
They said they “couldn’t” give out ice with water, it had to be room temp water. But they serve iced coffee and blended drinks so they definitely have ice to give, they are just being stingy for no reason.
Also, the six scoop cup had to be the same flavor for each scoop but the four scoop cup had to be a unique flavor for each scoop. Why the hell are there so many asinine rules?!
Also, the scoops were basically hollow inside, I’m not even joking. They purposely tried to make it as small as possible. This was definitely not even close to being worth $13!!! I wish I had just gone to to Braum’s or even Coldstone instead of wasting my money on this horrid excuse for ice cream.
Okay rant over
Edit:
This was a comment but I’ll add the edit here as well.
I’m responding to many comments I have seen in this thread, not just the one I’m replying to:
First of all tho- shout out to the people with clever deductive reasoning skills who kinda called the whole situation without me even having to clarify. Yall are whole Sherlocks out here.
It’s hilarious when people are so confidently wrong. There are three spoons because I had two kids with me. That was the reason I didn’t just leave, coupled with the fact that there were literally no other options that late in the day (after midnight), so I had to suck it up and just get them their ice cream since I had promised them two scoops each before we left the house. (I thought we were going to braums cuz I could’ve sworn they were open much later and they are so much more reasonably priced)
As soon as the worker said the nonsense about the ice cream rules, I wanted to leave immediately. But like I said, I was desperate (it was the only spot open at the time) and had to follow through for the kids.
I am very much the type of person who would say never mind, let’s go somewhere else if there were any other option. They only told me the no ice for water rule after I paid, but that probably would have sent me over the edge and I would have left regardless if I hadn’t already paid and everything because I was legitimately baffled looking at the iced coffee images on the menu offering ice. I asked why and they said it was “policy” to not give ice with water, that pissed me off more than anything because it’s a cafe as well as a creamery so it just didn’t make sense to me. Color me crazy for expecting a cafe to have ice water, I guess.
Since it was such small portions, and I wanted the kids to eat their two scoops, I didn’t get more than one lil sample of two of them, but even that was enough to understand how low quality it was.
Even the 12yo said it tasted like store bought nestle “ice cream” which isn’t even technically ice cream, it’s that frozen dairy dessert nonsense. But that was an accurate comparison.
It was quite icy and not very creamy.
And lastly, to the people who are saying that I ordered a “sampler” so that implies the scoops are supposed to be smaller, the menu did not write mini scoops. If they had advertised that, I would not have had an issue with the size. But they used the same word “scoop” for each of the options, so I believed it would all be the same size regular scoop. The lack of transparency is why it is mildly infuriating. Also, if you look up pics of the exact same thing I ordered “four scoop sampler” from dumonts creamery, the scoops looks so much bigger and more normal rather than the mini scoops I got.
Also, for the people who are claiming the six scoops was a packed pint and that’s why it could only be one flavor: it was not a pint for the six scoops, it’s just a large cup with six scoops in it. There was not even a lid. Yall are thinking of a packed pint like they give at baskin Robbins shops but that is incorrect. It’s just another large cup with six individual scoops and no lid.
Lastly, I didn’t put the name of the place in the post because I thought that was against the rules but I saw it many times in the comments so I am assuming it’s fine. It’s called dumonts creamery and cafe
