Put simply the Streisand effect is where a person's efforts to hide or get rid of some information about themself only ends up drawing more attention to that information. And at least to me its always funny when someone famous learns the hard lesson that sometimes you just need to shut up and take the punch.

I only have one example off the top of my head, that being the youtuber Dream. for multiple years now almost everyone but the most die hard of his defenders have known he fakes his manhunt videos. A normal person in his position would probably have either ignored those claims or put out a tweet or something saying "yeah I edit them, whatever" and let it die out.

Dream for some reason refuses to do that and has gone to such lengths as hiring a Harvard astrophysicist to "do the math" on how his videos aren't fake. He still to this day is getting in drama because he refuses to just say his manhunts are scripted and keeps building new defenses to hide behind even though undeniable proof has come out that they aren't unscripted.

I just love them

Just this once

Edit: Context: lesbian space princess is an animated movie on Netflix that came out in I believe 2025. It's been getting a lot of hate for horrible LGTBQ+ representation and overall being a bad movie. Bad pacing and widely agreed on being very cringy/unfunny.
