Onboarding US Home Pro Scam?
I recently applied to a job listing on Indeed that was labeled as working with US Home Pro(The contracting company within Home Depot), they contacted me for an interview and said it was a sales job that pays 18 an hour at 4 hours a shift, with possibility of commission. Most of the hiring procedure was pretty standard except that it was remote, with recruiting looking at one of a possibility of locations in my area.
The only problem I have is that they had me download a messaging platform, RingCentral, which I've never heard of. They're now asking me for onboarding to take photos of my ID and Social Security Card(All the pieces they'd need to establish proof of identity). I'm wondering, has anyone else had experience with this or a similar hiring practice? Sending photos of my identification on a messaging platform feels like it's a recipe for a bad time/identity theft, sets off alarm bells in my head, but if others can vouch for that same hiring practice I'll move forward from here.
Edit: In this case it was okay, I asked if I could use another platform or give the documents over in person(they're standard onboarding docs but it's sus to want them online). They happily obliged with an offer to process them during my first day of training which works perfect for me, thank you all for the help sorting it out! My girlfriend suggested asking for that because it's not been out of the question for her, and she said straight up just ask them if I can give them over in person.
