PRIVACY Leaked backend data from "no-KYC" swap Wagyu.xyz links 38k+ crypto orders, Monero destinations, and user IPs
TL;DR: Ransomware group WhiteArmor leaked alleged backend data from no-KYC swap service Wagyu.xyz (38,628 orders, 10,139 IPs). Monero's cryptography wasn't broken at all, but the leak shows how off-chain centralized databases create a huge privacy hole.
Key Takeaways:
Monero is fine, centralized swap retention isn't: Monero's on-chain math still holds up. However, Wagyu stored incoming deposit hashes (BTC/ETH/SOL), outgoing XMR receiving addresses, timestamps, and client IPs together in the same database rows.
- Direct correlation risk: The leak contains 4,580 completed cross-chain-to-XMR orders that map the original public deposit TX directly to the native XMR receiving address and the user's IP. It also goes the other way for XMR exits (accepting XMR and logging the transparent ETH/BTC destination and IP).
- "Deleted" orders weren't actually deleted: Over 4,000 orders have a
userDeletedAttimestamp, meaning users thought they cleared their history from the UI, but the full trade metadata and IPs remained sitting in the backend. - What it means for users: The data doesn't magically trace funds once they move inside Monero, nor does an IP alone equal a real-world identity (VPNs, Tor, NAT). But it connects public wallets to private requests, leaving users open to targeted phishing, cross-chain clustering, and extortion.
If you use "no-KYC" instant bridges, always route through Tor/VPN and assume the platform's database retains the exact link you were trying to break.

DISCUSSION Will you trade AI compute as a commodity onchain?
Back in May, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink predicted that compute could become a new asset class. He said, "A new asset class will be buying futures of compute."
The idea makes sense if you look at how AI companies operate. Training frontier AI models requires thousands of GPUs like Nvidia's H100 and B200. And companies usually rent this computing capacity on an hourly basis.
As demand grows, rental prices can fluctuate with GPU availability, hardware generation, and the cloud provider. An AI company renting GPUs would want protection against rising compute costs. This is not very different from how businesses hedge electricity or oil prices.
Even CME has announced plans for H100 and B200 rental-index futures. But they delayed it after the CFTC extended its review.
I see crypto projects following this trend, too. Some of them are planning to launch perpetual markets for AI compute. I am not sure if these perpetual markets match what a particular AI company pays for GPUs. Also, since it is a perpetual market, it comes with funding fees, liquidation risks, and other things I'd consider before even touching it.
What do you guys think? Could trading AI compute become as popular as trading oil futures? And will you trade it?

PERSPECTIVE Tether’s Next Bitcoin Power Play: The Software Behind the Miners. Fifteen mining industry players back its open-source toolkit. The stakes reach far beyond hashrate.
Tether just brought 15 Bitcoin mining players together around one software framework.
Bitmain. MicroBT. Foundry. F2Pool.
The pitch: connect the machines, cut operational friction, and build the foundation for AI automation.
The stakes go deeper.
Shared software could help smaller miners compete. It could also leave independent operators depending on the same code—and exposed to the same mistakes.
Owning the machines doesn’t automatically mean operational independence.
That’s what makes Tether’s MDK worth watching.
Will miners gain more freedom—or become dependent on software they can’t afford to leave?

GENERAL-NEWS Robinhood bets $10 million on AI coding tool maker Cognition—after previously backing a rival
OpenAI’s Codex, Anthropic’s Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cognition’s Devin are all competing for attention from developers. Robinhood’s venture arm now has money riding on two of the companies behind them.
Robinhood Ventures has cut Cognition a check for $10 million, the company exclusively told Fortune, which follows a $75 million investment in OpenAI back in April.
Sarah Pinto, head of Robinhood Ventures, has no issue with backing rivals. “It’s not a winner-take-all market,” she said. Robinhood’s own engineers use multiple AI coding tools, she noted, adding that within its consumer business, Robinhood lets customers choose between different AI models to run its trading agents.
The Cognition investment was part of the startup’s Series E funding round in September, which raised more than $2 billion at a $48 billion valuation. Robinhood is disclosing its participation for the first time, joining high-profile backers including Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and Founders Fund. Cognition said in September that its annualized revenue run rate had reached almost $900 million, up from $492 million in May.

DISCUSSION Chainlink CustodySync: Connecting Institutional Capital to DeFi
Introducing Chainlink CustodySync, a new solution that lets qualified custodians give their institutional clients access to DeFi lending markets, all while assets remain securely in custody.
With @Anchorage as the official launch partner, together we’re establishing a new standard for institutional DeFi.
CustodySync keeps custody and lending systems in sync across the full lifecycle of a loan:
→ For custodians: faster time to market and lower operational overhead, with custodian-managed controls
→ For lending markets: independent, verifiable data and a consistent risk framework
→ For institutions: passive capital becomes productive capital
More than $80 billion sits in DeFi lending markets. Meanwhile, the roughly $700 billion in digital assets under custody is less than 0.5% of all $250 trillion in traditional assets under custody. The opportunity to connect traditional institutional capital to onchain finance remains vast.
Large institutions have lacked a secure way of accessing these markets. Regulations require many of them to keep their digital assets with a qualified custodian, a firm that meets specific requirements for holding assets on behalf of clients, and custody systems were never built for DeFi. Even when custody and lending systems are connected, inconsistent loan valuations can trigger premature liquidation or delayed liquidations, exposing borrowers and lenders to significant financial risk.
