Hi, i just finished my Alevels a year ago. Currently on my gap year. I dont have enough points for UTB Engineering course so i plan to take bridging program next year. To those who did take BriTe specifically for engineering, do you mind sharing an overview on how the flow would be for the next 3 months and the probable fees?

ℹ️ Public Information Regarding the safety of the denizens in Bruneiβ€” whoever they might be

(I'm still fairly new to Reddit and uncertain whether or not I am doing anything right or wrong, so I appreciate as much feedback as possible. Some people might recognize me as the teen looking for jobs in a recent post on this same subreddit.)

Primary Question;

"How safe, really, is Brunei nowadays?"

This question arose for me when I had initiated a conversation with my father in the otherwise unbearably quiet car one morning, "We live in such a nice and populated neighborhood with open streets and stores/stalls. How come only a small fraction of us actually are able to walk around freely?"

Which, unfortunately gave him the cue to launch into a lecture about how streets were unsafe nowadays.

His main point was "Back then, we could trust people and the fellow neighbours in our areaβ€” nowadays, it's as if there are a larger percentage of people with ill intentions, another percentage of people who only bother to watch, and the lesser percentage being people who actually want to help if somebody were in trouble." He'd categorized the latter as elderly people or familiar individualsβ€” I helped him put it into words and eventually came to the conclusion, some people lack integrity. Some people lean towards flight rather than fight. Some people would rather stay quiet. Some people would rather forgive and forget. Some people have better things to do, and some people would rather record from a very, very far distance.

I find this very troubling as a girl, and for any fellow women who might simply think they were free and safe to roam around in the supposedly protected streets of Brunei, with surveillance and a large amount of carsβ€” maybe on their daily commute to work or school or for a grocery runβ€” passing by; and still be wrong about it.

So, I've compiled a list of questions that were plaguing my mind earlierβ€” feel free to answer however many, or which ever you have the ability to give an answer to.

1. Was there ever an experience where you also had to question the safety of fellow citizensβ€” no matter what race, gender, or status they had? If so, I'd like to hear it as well. (In the heading, I specified denizens instead of citizens, this applies to just about anybody who is an inhabitant of Brunei, temporarily, or has been here a lifetime.)

2. Was there ever an experience where you found that my father's conclusion (as stated above) applied to your situation? As in, you agree under the reason of having experienced it yourself?

3. What do you think should be done to encourage people to step in? Or,

4. What do you think should be done by the government or the citizens to promote a safe space for everybody?

5. Have you everβ€” as my father did for meβ€” decided that it was better to keep your children or loved ones off the streets, no matter how close or how far their destination were to be? Would you simply prefer they be supervised by a trusted individual, if it happened anyway?

6. Do you think letting children roam around their neighbourhood freely and independently would be fine, maybe even an ideal activity for them to do (otherwise staying in all day), under what kind of circumstances?

As always, if this does reach fellow Bruneians, I'd be happy for anybody to address my concerns. I'm only curious, and I'd like to hear other people's opinions even outside of the questions I'd given. Have a nice day, afternoon or evening <3

πŸ›¬ Tourist Question Recommend a good Ulu Temburong National Park half-day tour

I have an evening flight out of Brunei but was hoping to check out the Ulu Temburong park in the morning and be back downtown probably around 3 or 4 pm. The tours I've seen in Viator and Getyourguide are all expensive. Is that the normal rate? Are there animals to be seen in the park?

I will be travelling and working in Brunei for several months in 2027. Are there any hotels or serviced apartments that I could look at that would allow stays of 3 to 4 months?

Near town or a little bit out will be ok as I should have a car.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡³ Original Content We built a website builder for Brunei businesses. Now you can easily create your own webpage or online store!

Hey r/Brunei!

We're the team behind Jaja (jaja.bn), a simple website builder we developed specifically for Brunei.

The idea behind Jaja has always been simple: make it easy and affordable for anyone to build their own website, without needing coding skills or hiring a developer.

And now, we've just introduced our online store feature!

We know a lot of small businesses in Brunei rely on Instagram and WhatsApp to sell their products. We wanted to make it easier for these businesses to have their own proper online storefront.

With Jaja, you can create your own store, upload your products and customize everything using a simple drag-and-drop builder.

And yes, we've also introduced a free tier that's free forever. No coding, no complicated setup.

We're still continuously improving Jaja and we'd genuinely love to hear what you guys think.

If you're running a small business or selling products online, what features would make your life easier?

Feel free to give it a try at https://www.jaja.bn

Any feedback, suggestions or even criticism is very much welcome! Sanang ja pakai Jaja!

❔ Question and Discussion Used Car Transfer (Company-to-Company): What is the standard payment & Blue Card handover procedure in Brunei?

Good Afternoon all, question on buying a used car company-to-company in Brunei:

We are using Honey Carsmart to process the JPD transfer, but the seller (3rd party seller - not carsmart) is demanding 100% payment ( BND6k+) before releasing the physical Blue Card. We do not want the physical car until 100% payment is made to him to make it fair for both parties. We only using their service to do the transfer + insurance.

We proposed letting Honey Carsmart hold the documents, check with JPD, and we pay in full the next day upon official JPD submission.

For those who have bought used cars or handled company vehicle transfers here, what is the usual standard? When is full payment normally released, and how to protect both parties?

πŸ“‚ Work & Career Questions regarding employment for teens in Brunei

I want to protect my privacy; so I'll give just a few details.

I'm under 18 years of age, I'm still in school, and I desperately need moneyβ€” not for pocket money, but I'm interested in building experience and are also looking for volunteer work for when I eventually apply to college. Additionally, I'd also be interested in a part time job I could start right away after my school day ends.

1. What jobs are available to me?

2. What salary should I be expecting?

3. Any warnings or concerns I may face?

4. How do I convince somebody to hire me?

5. How do I even find people who are willing to hire minors?

6. What should I prepare in advance?

I'm new to Redditβ€” So, I'm still a little bit confused with all this stuff, I appreciate any feedback. Still, I appreciate any help I can get because I'm in a financial situation where I cannot easily depend on my family at the moment. I hope everybody who reads and answers my questions has a good morning, afternoon or eveningβ€” thank you! πŸ’•

πŸ›¬ Tourist Question 1hr55mins layover in brunei

Hi everyone! I made a mistake and booked my flights with very short layover in between. My first flight is from Kota Kinabalu-Brunei and then Brunei-Manila with a 1hr and 55 minutes of layover in between. My question is would that be enough time or should I rebook my first flight. I booked them separately with different airlines. Also, would I be allowed to stay airside or should I go through check in and immigration again. I do not have check in baggage and only plan to have a small hand carry. Please dont be rude I know it was a stupid mistake.

πŸ“‹ School Projects & Surveys πŸŽ“Your Voice Matters, Brunei!

Assalamualaikum,

We urgently need your voice! ⚠️

Many graduates in Brunei are earning less than they should, while others are working in jobs that do not match their qualifications, skills, or career expectations. Behind these experiences are real people trying to build their lives and support their families. Yet, this issue remains largely hidden.

Your voice can help us understand the true scale of graduate underemployment and explore whether Zakat could be part of the solution.

πŸ”— Survey link: https://forms.gle/ddyNhLMJgDAHh9JA6

I am a Master's student conducting research on graduate underemployment and Zakat in Brunei Darussalam, and I would be truly grateful for your participation.

βœ… Anonymous

βœ… Voluntary participation

βœ… 10–15 minutes

Thank you for standing up for this important issue. May this research benefit us all and become a means of real change, In Sha Allah.

❔ Question and Discussion Is badminton slowly losing popularity in Brunei, or is pickleball just the new trend?

Thumbnail
gallery
79 Upvotes

Just something I've been curious about lately.

I was comparing court availability for tomorrow (Saturday, 17 October) between a badminton venue and a pickleball venue, and the difference is pretty noticeable.

The badminton courts still have plenty of available slots throughout the day, including some peak hours, whereas the pickleball courts are almost fully booked from morning until night.

Obviously, this is just a snapshot of two venues on one particular day, so it doesn't necessarily represent the overall popularity of either sport.

But it got me wondering, are people in Brunei genuinely moving away from badminton towards pickleball, or is this just the excitement of a relatively new sport?

For those who play either or both:

  • Have you been playing badminton less frequently?
  • What makes pickleball more appealing to you?
  • Is it the pricing, social aspect, accessibility, or just something new to try?
  • What would make you choose badminton over pickleball?

Not trying to pit the two sports against each other. I'm genuinely interested in hearing what people think about how recreational sports are changing in Brunei.
