Community Event Nextfest Participants: Ask Steam to remove AI disclosure label in Survey

Should indie devs really have to suffer the consequences of being witch hunted and harassed when AAA developers are all using AI without disclosure willy nilly and get none of the hate? Let your voice be known in steam's survey for nextfest participants, remove the AI disclosure tag. A game should be measured by it's quality, not it's tag.

Community Event We are sure missing the point here aren't we?

I keep seeing all these arguments about what engine somebody used, whether the graphics were drawn by hand, whether AI helped with the code, whether AI made some of the art, whether procedural generation counts, whether somebody is a “real developer” or a “real artist” and I swear sometimes I think we have completely forgotten about the fucking players.

Actual players. Not developers arguing with other developers or artists pissed off because somebody used a tool they dont like. Players. And I really dont think players give a shit how you made the game. Nobody is sitting on their couch saying man this game is fucking awesome but I just found out they used AI to help write some of the code so I guess I cant have fun anymore. Nobody finishes an amazing game and says yeah but what engine was that built in? Players have gone from arcade cabinets to Atari to Nintendo to Playstation to Xbox to PC to phones to browser games to VR and everything else we could possibly come up with. Theyll play with a controller, keyboard, touchscreen, plastic guitar, dance mat, steering wheel or six fucking dice if the game is fun. Thats it. Thats the test. Is the fucking game fun? The engine isnt the game. The pencil isnt the game. The AI isnt the game. The computer isnt the game. The experience is the game. And yes obviously great artists matter and great programmers matter and craftsmanship matters and theres legitimate shit to talk about with copyright and jobs and AI and all of that.

Im not saying none of that matters. Im saying I dont think the PLAYER gives nearly as much of a shit about our little inside baseball arguments as we apparently think they do. You can lovingly hand code every line, draw every pixel yourself, compose every note, build your own engine from scratch and sacrifice a fucking goat over the source code for all I care, but if your game sucks nobody owes you a second play because of how pure your process was. Meanwhile somebody can use every weird new tool they can get their hands on and if six people are standing around their game laughing, yelling, talking shit and screaming ONE MORE GAME when its over, guess what? They made a good fucking game. Everything else is us arguing about how the sausage got made.

Community Event Challenge - Clone my game!

Recently, I've seen a lot of posts across all social media channels of Indie Developers in active fear over their game getting cloned by someone using AI within a week. Mostly, I replay with "simple idea, simple clone" or insinuate that they did something wrong if they spent months/years developing something that can be cloned in that timeframe.

I strongly believe that AI can do quite a few things, but I believe that my game is "immune" to simple cloning. It's a puzzle game with relatively straightforward mechanics, but the beauty is in the detail.

So I challenge everyone to actually produce a good clone of my game to prove me wrong. There's trailers and a Demo as well as a few Screenshots and other information. The game title is Cubic Color Confusion. You can find information on Steam, Itch, Twitter/X.

I am really interested on what people can put together. The full game releases on November 10th, with 100 Levels and the Steam Workshop integrated Level Editor.

Challenge accepted?

Community Event Calling all vibecoders and devs…

Let’s make a Frankenstein game.

Everybody works in the same repo. No grand vision. No single engine/style/tool requirement beyond whatever we can reasonably glue together.

You’re good at Blender? Add some weird assets.

Godot/Unity/Three.js/web dev? Build a mechanic.

Pixel artist? Make a UI.

Music/SFX? Add it.

AI/vibecoder who barely knows what the hell they’re doing? Perfect. Make something and submit it.

The idea is that everybody contributes whatever they have and we keep stitching it together until we somehow end up with a playable game.

One shared repo. Branches/PRs so we don’t immediately destroy it.

Very few creative rules. If somebody adds a fishing minigame and somebody else adds a mech and somebody else builds a haunted gas station, now those things exist in the same universe and we figure out how to connect them.

Basically open-source game development as an exquisite corpse.

First contribution: fork the repo, add one small thing, and open a pull request. It can be a mechanic, asset, sound, room, character, item, dumb joke, whatever. Don’t overthink it — just add one piece to the monster.

No idea what the final game is. That’s the point.

Who wants in?

Community Event I have made a website that hosts everyone's AI games completely free - no catch, and full credit to all developers with links to their socials/other games. Even offer GitHub hosting - at ViberCove.com

Currently hosting over 200 of the best vibecoded and ai games around (and a few stinkers of my own) - have a play and send me your good games and tools at vibercove.com

Even if it's on GitHub I can host it directly on the site. All games link direct to your website/socials so you get the traffic as well as people playing the game you made

No commercial services or anything being offered, just trying to get the spotlight on more devs. Free site, not even hosting ads, I can't stress enough I literally have nothing to gain here I just want one centralized place we can all play our vibecoded games

thanks guys

joe @ viber cove - mods pls let this stay up i beg you

(changed the name after feedback, annoyingly my gf said the whole time slopville was a bad name, but i wont tell her she was right lol)

Community Event In search of good games with innovative gameplay.

And I don't mean a simple mix between genres like bowling and roguelike (that would probably be cool though).

I'm looking, for a special episode of my 10000 Games! Challenge, to play vibecoded/ massively ai developed games to prove the world that some good ideas can be brought into existence from people who would normally not have the time or the resources required to make them become true.

I'm mostly looking for innovative gameplay, games like no other. Games should be on Steam, free or paid (I'm paying for all the games I play on my channel but I won't pay for a game if I find it overpriced or if I don't find it interesting enough).

I don't have any preference for the genres, I literally play everything with the same pleasure. If the game feels great, it may even be added to my "Play List" and have its own special episode where I play to unlock all the achievements (I'm also an avid achievement hunter).

This obviously costs nothing, I'm here to make people discover new games, old and new, AAA or indies, on every platform available (I'm currently on PC but I will start playing consoles and arcade games soon). Be cautious though, based on my own taste I will say if I like the game or not, the review won't necessarily be positive, even if you give me a free key. I'm not here to promote bad games.

But I'm not mean either: I'm a passionate player having fun with almost everything and I'm actually a dev myself, I've been working with several studios back in the days, I know the efforts it requires to release a game, even with AI involved. I won't ruin your game unless it really deserves it :)

So if you think your game is part of that innovative gameplay shelf, just send me a link with a few words about what makes your game different.

I'm posting on both Instagram, TikTok and Youtube. Only a few ks people are following my channels right now but I'm working on long term involvement and regular game oriented shows starting next week. Look for "10000 Games! Challenge" if interested.

Community Event put up $1000 for a jam because half the people i talk to have a game sitting 80% done that they never shipped

so i run whim, the marketplace i've posted about here before. quick version if you missed it: you put your AI-built game or app up, people play it in the browser, you keep 90% if you charge for it.

anyway the thing that made me do this: people keep sending me games that are like 80% done and just stopped. not stuck on some hard bug. just stopped, because there was no reason to push it the last bit. no deadline, no one waiting on it.

so here's a reason. $1000 total, $400 best game, $400 best app, $200 people's choice. goes til aug 30. no theme, and you do NOT have to make it during the two weeks. if you've got something half done right now, go finish that. thats the entire point.

free to enter, first listing is free. i only take 10% if you actually sell something and a bunch of people are just listing free so i make nothing off them, which is honestly fine.

its my platform so yeah i want people on it, not gonna pretend im doing this out of pure kindness. but i would genuinely rather these things exist than sit in a folder forever.

buywhim.com/jam if you want it. ill be in the comments all week, ask me whatever.

Community Event I'm hosting the second IRL AI Game Dev meetup in Toronto! Comment or DM for Luma link

I hosted some of y'all this past week (past event here) and it was really fun to be around people seriously invested in making games with AI or building tooling to support their AI game development. I'll be hosting the second meetup 3 weeks from now in Toronto and would love to see anyone from Toronto there.

This is a meetup for AI game devs who are actively using AI tools and agentic workflows to build games. It will be a cross between a meetup and a demo event (food and drink will be served). The event can provide a stage to present your game, share your experiences building agents for game dev/design, or share the role(s) agents play in what you're building.

If you're looking to advance the game development and design abilities of agents beyond what's currently on the market, this will be a place to learn a new tool, connect with others who have similar skills, and possibly create new opportunities.

Check out the link below

See you soon!!

basically what the title says. I've hosted a bunch of AI agent meetups while the field was young back in 2024 and it was so fun to be around other enthusiasts when we're normally working alone or terminally online on Github, Reddit and Discord.

I feel like this sub is really writing the future of AI game dev with each new experiment and y’all represent the next era of game developers. I wanted to bring some of that energy to real life for those of you based in Toronto (Canada).

Community Event I've made a directory of games made with AI, plus the free tools and talks to make your own

Hello guys, posted last week and got some very pleasant feedback (and some rude lol) - I've added a good amount of submissions from you guys since then and always looking for more so please submit your cool games!

https://vibercove.com/

So I've been 'building' a small site that collates the best and coolest games/programs I can find made with AI. I was finding so many cool games on twitter just randomly posted by small vibecoding accounts, I enjoyed them a lot but ended up never knowing how to find them again if they weren't bookmarked. So i thought I'd try and make a hub for myself for all the decent ones I could find

I have since added a few tools and seminars to help anyone who's just getting started or doesn't know where to find good tools/plugins: 79 free tools for making stuff with AI, including a game dev section with Unity and Godot plug-ins, Blender MCP, ComfyUI, and 3D, music and voice tools. https://vibercove.com/tools/

Seminars: some of the best and more helpful talks i've found on building with AI. If you sign in you can take timestamped notes while you watch, which you can save as a txt file when you're done to get your models to refer to https://vibercove.com/talks/

Developer pages: every developer gets a page with their links to social media presence (if they want) and their other games too

If you've made a game with AI, or use a free tool that should be on there, you can submit it

I can't stress enough I have nothing to gain. No ads, nothing to pay for (obvs) . I don't want your emails or any other details. This started as a project for me to just get all the stuff i wanted in one place, but my post last week gave me a few ideas

So i wanted to share with you all, I hope some of you find it either fun or helpful !!

cheers joe

Community Event Server for people annoyed by anti AI people

I joined this server a while ago and like it there: https://discord.gg/6ty6kNUpg

Maybe some people here want to join. It's mostly people from Twitter who are annoyed by AI antis.

If you like people like Leaflit/Skyebrows/ChibiReviews, you'll probably like it there. It's different kinds of AI creators, mostly artists.

Also has channels related to programming and gamedev. Maybe somebody here is interested. Still pretty new server, only a few months old, so suggestions are welcome.

Community Event Would anyone be interested in a Godot game jam where everyone gets the same limited AI budget?

I’m thinking about organizing a Generated Godot Jam built around a slightly different premise from a normal AI-friendly game jam.

Everyone would:

  • Build their game in Godot
  • Use the same approved AI tool stack
  • Receive the same limited amount of API credit
  • See live metrics showing exactly how much of their budget they’ve used

The stack could include something like:

  • GPT or Claude for coding, design, and debugging
  • GPT Image for game assets
  • ElevenLabs for voices or audio
  • Godot as the required engine

Participants would never receive the actual provider API keys. They would access the tools through a jam gateway with an individual token, usage tracking, and a hard spending limit.

The limited budget would be part of the challenge. Do you spend more on code assistance, generate more visual variations, add voice acting, or save your remaining budget for debugging near the deadline?

Each submission could include an automatically generated “AI build receipt” showing:

  • Total AI spend
  • Models used
  • Number of LLM requests
  • Image generations
  • Voice usage
  • Remaining budget

There could also be categories like:

  • Best Overall Game
  • Best Game Under $10
  • Best Use of AI Budget
  • Best AI-Assisted Workflow
  • Best AI-Native Mechanic

The goal would not be to reward whoever generates the most content. It would be to see what different developers can create when everyone has access to the same engine, tools, and limited resources.

Would you enter something like this?

I’d also be interested in feedback on the ideal duration, tool stack, and API budget. My initial thought is a 7-day jam with around $15–$25 in credits per participant.

Update: The waitlist is now live. If you’d like to participate or follow the project, you can sign up here: jam.auto-intellect.org

Community Event AI Browser Game Jam 5 starts NOW. The theme is TORCH!

Thumbnail
itch.io
2 Upvotes

AI Browser Game Jam 5 is officially underway. Submissions are open now through October 30.

This round’s theme: TORCH

A torch in the dark. A torch song. Carrying a torch for someone. Passing the torch. Or just torching the whole thing down. Interpret it however you want or ignore it entirely, the theme is a suggestion, not a rule.

The rules are simple: make a free browser-playable game in two weeks using AI for whatever you want. Code, art, music, design, sound, anything.

A few details:

  • No sponsor or required AI service
  • Solo devs or teams
  • Theme is optional
  • Sharing your AI workflow/process is encouraged
  • Participants play and rate the entries

The last jam had 126 entries and 248 people joined, so I’m really curious how big round 5 gets.

Jam page: https://itch.io/jam/ai-jam-5
Discord: https://discord.gg/86xBnZqHjy

If you joined one of the previous jams, feel free to share what you made and what tools you used. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Community Event First AI Gaming Festival?

The only way to break the stigma of AI Gaming and Slop, is to show them that AI != necessarily mean slop.

In fact, their are many different ways AI can be used should be highlighted that artwork is not everything. So here is a festival just for that:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc4UHHYGeGWVJf64W92IYSL1rrKa9LYiktTmh8E_K0oEAJIiA/viewform?usp=header

Please both share with other AI developers and sign your game-up and let's start to change the perception of AI.

Community Event A great game jam opportunity!

Hey guys - I'm trying to help out in getting an AI game jam together, and with minimal "safe spaces" I guess I'm trying to make it a bit of a goal to make a bigger safe space to show off AI game design as I also work on my own project.

If it's cool - I'd like to tell people to checkout Slap Jam - which has the goal to do just that, bring AI developers together for two days, win prizes, have fun, and most importantly - show other gamers that real people, that are passionate about game development, want to use AI.

I see this a huge team effort to get rid of the stigma that just because your programming and art skill trees aren't min/maxed - that doesn't mean we can't tell great stories, design great games, and have creative game thoughs that we otherwise wouldn't bring into the world if we didn't have this technology available to us.

Some of us are parents, entrepreneurs, and busy people that just don't have the time or bandwidth to do every single skill - but do feel in our souls, "Hey! I could design an amazing game, and I am willing to dedicate the time I do have, to bringing that to life"

https://slapjam-ai.web.app/#jam

There is prizes, if you wanna sponsor it you can, if you just wanna take part - have fun, and meet great people, I'm trying to rally this cause for my inner 7 year old that found peace in destroying my older brother at Mortal Kombat 2.
